Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v3.8x | FroYo 3.30.651.2 | *Updated 11/1/10*

BTW: My wife dropped her phone the day we got an email from Otterbox.com that the EVO Defender had come out... HOW FREAKING IRONIC - We've been waiting for the Otterbox Defender (I have it on my itouch, ipad, and love the case) since June 4th when the EVOs came out... Otterbox decided to go after the iphone cases before producing the case for the EVO. A-Holes... I'm sure the iphone is more popular, which would mean more REVENUE for Otterbox, so from a business perspective I see why they moved to the iphone and made a shitload of different cases before finishing the Defender for the EVO, which had come out almost 1 month before the iphone.

Sorry, enough babbling..

This is a stretch but under Settings/Applications did you check Unknown sources?
If the phone is restarting your SD card could be fubared and need a reformat.

Which ROM? Wifi tether and 4G play nice on 3.8x

There isnt that much to know. OMJ already posted the 'slpaination and all you gotta do is flash the file like a ROM.
Sorry IKS, the phone reboots. I will try to reformat the SD and see if that works. I already am getting accustomed to doing a full wipe and just installing things clean from AppBrain, so this may not be a huge issue. the only thing i had to reinstall was SetCPU and Swype using their APK's. I am not a huge fan of losing the data associated with my apps.

2 - Are there any particular Apps (other than obvious ones like Titanium, ROM Mgr, Wireless Tether) that should be removed.
3 - I'm going to take the sim card out. But if they decided to give me a new phone will it be able to use my current sim card without deleting or reformating it?

Anyone have any experience using the Best Buy Mobile Phone warranty claims on the EVOs... I'm paying 9.99 per month for the service. But now that I'm going to use it, I'm not to thrilled about having no phone for a few weeks.

Thanks
1 & 2. you could flash the rooted stock rom, then remove the superuser app

3. sim card? do u mean micro sd memory card?

THEY DIDN't. BB told me I was going to have to leave it and they would send it off to fix it.. Well I still need to backup and remove root)

I a have heard that BB does look for rooted phone. Several have posted here about taking rooted phone here and had to remove root before taking back in. I do not think Sprint is looking for root on some repairs aka my broken microusb port.

This is the update just one number difference. Go to Menu> Settings>System UpDates and uncheck HTC Software Update.

I was waiting for the official RUU, but I may use another base in the meantime, I've been working on a updates, just working out some issues. the .3 update may be the same as .2, except .3 was official, and .2 was leaked....but I'm not 100% sure.

was it true to the statement that the .3 was just the camera update and a new kernel other than that .2 is the exactly the same?
