Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v3.0 | FroYo 3.26.651.6 | *Updated 8/13/10*

still having problems with my EVO... tried many different ROMs and samething is happening. when I plug my evo into the computer I do not get the "Charge only", "disk drive", etc, window anymore. when I boot from a new flash and anytime I reboot the car panel comes up at start up. when i make calls it is defaulting to speaker phone "on". It seems to me like it is set on car kit. I don't know what I have done.

I wipe date, cache and the other one (cant remember) everytime I change ROMs...

I am currently running "sprint lover" rom, but have been running OMJ 3.0 deodexed rom when this started happening. could something have happened with my plug at the bottom of the phone. It will charge on the computer and when plug into the wall outlet...

I have tried this step twice now just to make sure I typed everything in correctly. this was suggested by iknowsquat...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695243

any ideas out there.

I am left with taking it back in to sprint to see what is wrong with it, however since it will not connect to the pc I am unable to unroot the phone and take it in... I am going to try using "sprint lovers" rom and see if they notice... I don't know what else to do.

thanks...tannerj

This is exactly what is happening to my phone....

I am going to try and push some air in the connect and see what happens...

tannerj-Have you ruled out the USB cord as a culprit?
Are you using the OEM cord? Even if you are there is a chance it could be that.

EDIT:I see you're on it. So it could be a hardware issue....good luck.

Yes I have ruled out OEM cord. I have purchased no OEM cords and the I still do not get the menu of charging disk drive when I plug it into the computer. I have tried other computer which do not have HTC sync installed, but I was thinking it would atleast give me the menu.

I tried blow air into the plug at the bottom of the phone and that did not work...

so now I am stuck as to what to try next. I am thinking the next thing to do is take it into sprint.

My concern though. If I am not the only one this has happened to it is happening when you plug into a computer, is this going to be an on going problem with the EVO.

thanks... tannerj

Well it could still be a hardware issue. It could be the pin issue from that thread you linked and it's just that the air didnt correct it.
How did you rule out the cord? IMO you'd need anothter stock/OEM cord (or at least another micro usb cord and have that NOT work to rule it out as the issue.
You may have to take it in. If it's a hardware issue they may not even look at in depth enough to see it's rooted.
Fingers crossed for ya.

how I ruled out the cord was and different cord.... I was lucky I just purchases 3 new micro usb cords (mouser $4.54 ea) so I would have extra and I used 1 of those to see if would atleast give me the menu and no luck with that....

THANKS OMJ...

bought my Evo 2 sundays ago with 2.2, couldnt find nothing to root with,

I believe thursday early morn, Forever Unrevoked came through over @ xda, except when I got down to 2.1,
I have windows 7 ultimate 64BIT, and the driver stopped so I could finish the process,

used the RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_rele ase_CL195459.exe from http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=121961,

once I had that...
I used the [TUTORIALS] EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe,
then of course,,,
