so is that the tachi dialer on your rom? Do you have a cab for test dialer (or 2 actually so I can go back) I can install and test instead? My phone is my business line and it takes me a while to rebuild when I flash (first to shipped, then the rom, update prl) then sashimi, activesync, htchome2, etc..I've got over 1000 contacts, so activesync alone takes a while! Seeing how quick you fired up this, I really gotta consider cooking!

I'm glad to help test and report, but I'm really trying to find something that runs for months! I haven't had that since mightygroovy! I'm hoping yours might do it! It's looking good so far!

Ah I feel you. I just cooked in the default phone canvas. I suppose I could try flashing this ROM to see if it works myself since my Diamond is M.I.A. with a cracked screen. lol

I can't really find a cab right now sorry but it's just the standard phone canvas for the Diamond that every ROM used to come with before Tachi. If you don't want to hard reset you could go ahead and just find another dialer.

just my luck, lol. not up for it right now. a cab would be much better! I had noticed the same problem on one of omj's custom roms yesterday and he also used that same dialer.

That's actually Rhodium, not tachi, right (based on your changelog/list)?

I'm not really clear on all the different dialers, skins, menus, etc. I guess I'll learn a lot the first time I cook! What is the the HTC phone enable/disable? I tried both and saw absolutely no difference!

Once I have things working the way I like, I try my best not to break it and require a hard reset. Once I hard reset, I usually try another rom! I was thinking today of going back to mightygroovy with HTCHOME2 and mobileshell. I never tried that rom with mobileshell, but with just HTCHOME2 it worked for several months without a hard reset before it got flaky. I don't think I've lasted more than a few weeks since then on any rom!

my gps testing using sportypal gave me some weird results, but I'm not sure if I ever tested it with mobileshell before, so it could be related to that. I'll do more testing. Haven't found any other issues yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I was looking for a registry editor and couldn't find one (except maybe total commander, but it has no doc and has a confusing interface, so I pretty much don't use it at all)! Is there a phm regedit hiding on there somewhere?

and one more question. The battery settings cabs. Is the battery saver cab just limiting the charging level to avoid hurting the battery whereas the normal settings allows faster charging?

Ok I'll try to answer the questions as good as I can. First yes, it's the Rhodium dialer I defaultly cooked in. The HTC enable/disable just goes to the default WM dialer or not. And maybe I forgot a registry editor but Total Commander can do registry. And I purposely didn't cook the rapid charge drivers because I believe that it cuts down on the overall life of a battery. If you charge with the wall charger it will still charge fast.

MrO, thanks for whipping up that new ROM to fix, but we may have misunderstood eachother on what the bug really was.

See the contact card to the right of the name, if you click on that, nothing happens. The new dialer you burned in, doesn't have that option, so in a way you did fix it, lol.

But no worries, the SPB cooked in is pretty awesome and everything works, so I REALLY appreciate you going the extra mile, you rock! If I run across any bugs, I'll be sure to let you know!

your answers helped a lot, thanx! I do think I now have a good solution. I didn't think the HTC enable/disable did anything, but I just realized I needed to soft reset after applying it. I'm now using the WM dialer (I think), it's black and has green/red talk/end buttons, both on the lower right, and everything seems to work, this actually happened after I ran disable HTC phone skin and soft reset. When I click on a call log entry, it opens the contact, just like marcjen (and I) want. When I removed it in remove programs and soft reset, it went back to rhodium dialer (and the bug is still there). This kind of surprised me because I thought this was probably just cabbed up regedits and I didn't think it would actually de-install and reverse them. Do you know how that works? What cab/decab tools do you use? Can I disassemble/display a cab do see what it does?

I also noticed that the contacts soft button on the rhodium dialer doesn't work with mobile shell active either! the rhodium/spbms conflict bug is actually worse than originally suspected (unless I somehow broke it more).

Isn't that how most people charge most of the time? Don't most people plug their phone in to AC at night when slow charging would be most appropriate anyhow? I don't get it! Is there a fix to slow charge on AC? Don't you think that would be a good idea to save your battery?

Yeah I know what the bug is and the problem is something beyond my control. Apparently SPB and the Rhodium dialer just don't get along as well as you have seen. So my solution was just to remove the dialer completely in the SPB version and make it so there wasn't a bug.

I find it odd that the enable/disable didn't work right for you after a second soft reset. I'm not sure honestly but the new cooked version would fix it. Maybe if you get some time you might just update to that. But I usually use Advanced Config to disable it as it's easy to set back anyway. The dialer doesn't get along with SPB and that's the final answer I can come up with.

As far as the battery, let me try to explain what you posted about. First the cab for battery saving is just to help reduce the phone's battery usage, not to help it charge. I think it just changes polling intervals for things like the battery, g-sensor, etc. Second, I just put the stock OEM charging drivers in there because I don't like how you can't charge the phone as well and over time the battery performance degrades faster. You can see the difference in a rapid charge and slow charge in the Battery Monitor program that it will charge at 700-900mA versus 400-600mA for a slower charge. The reason the slower charge is better is because it fits more electrons into the battery better and doesn't wear down the battery as fast.

As far as Advanced Config, I like the program. I just don't know about whether it works with Sashimi or not as I have never used that program. But it does work good and you can change a ridiculous amount of settings.

And yes I cooked in Changescreen, which is a program that you can rotate the screen for landscape/portrait. I find it very handy when texting because you can rotate to landscape and if you use FingerKeyboard it will switch to the landscape layout I made in post two. To use it you just enable it on the first tab, choose the desired rotation directions, then you can change the applications individually and configure each app (Manila, Opera, tmail (Outlook), gwes (WM lock), etc.) for a certain rotation. Make sure you load the defaults as it will try to rotate everything and you don't want Manila to be overridden if you cab install it in, etc.

I hadn't seen before that advance config allowed you to enable/disable the dialer skin. I now like using that better and somehow the contact card pulls up properly when the skin is enabled from there, go figure. The contacts soft key still doesn't work from the Rhodium dialer, so it's no skin for me! That works fine with no bugs!

The battery stuff is interesting though. I looked into it more and found battery saver applies

I thought it was interesting because I always thought the big battery fix was supposed to be

which is 20000 decimal and in this rom it's set to 25000, so my limited knowledge led me to test the gsensor with battery saver settings on and what I found was

1) with battery saver on, opera no longer auto rotates the screen

but

2) teeter still works and still does the gsensor in mobileshell carousel mode, but not nearly as smoothly (I think)

so it's back to normal battery settings for me!

I still wonder about the charging settings though. I agree with you that trickle charging is better, so I don't understand why nobody has come up with a way to limit the charging mA from the AC adapter like they do from the usb! I'll look into this, but I think it might be beyond my current knowledge. If you or anyone else has any ideas, I think that could be a fix to help slow charge and save our batteries!
