Well, when that happened they DID change all the links. But, the way their system is set up they could just replace the path, but once the new link system was figured out all the other links followed because the individual channel numbers are all the same as before. So, these should last for quite some time, since they aren't widely known.

Ok I've got Manila TV cooked in and working! I just need for someone to send me their US channels xml file if they don't mind sharing. All I have atm is Fox and MSNBC. As soon as I get the xml I'll upload the ROM

Out of 7 ROMs I tried, I have decided to stick with this one. Thank You !!
Couple questions:
1. Missed calls/Voicemail Indicator: I see there is small icon on the top for missed calls/vm, I was wondering if there is any other indication, missed calls tab or something like that...?
2. I want my "Home" to be the second page and not the one that comes with HTC standard (with big time clock)... The second page has 12 icons where I can select application, contact, ... I want to make this as my "permanent" home page.. Any way to do it?

Thanks,
-Sam

I have tweaked the list with all channels confirmed working as of today. 130 channels all together. They are kind of sorted by "topic" (i.e. 5 Cartoon channels bunched together, financial channels Bloomberg, CNBC, CNBC World, Fox Business one after the other, all music video channels in a block, etc.)

Only thing I need to know is whether you can cook into "Internal Storage," which is where I have the Coreplayer and Skyfire stored and pathed-to in the XML file. If the players HAVE to reside in main memory for cooking purposes let me know and I'll rewrite the links in the XML file to \windows\coreplayer.exe and \windows\skyfire.exe.

I'll send you the version of Coreplayer I am using. does the PM allow for attachments, or do I need to send to your email address?

To be in line with the same view and orientation that the Manila TV player has as its default for Windows Media Player you have to change two settings in Coreplayer: under "video" choose "Open video full screen" and under orientation choose "Left-handed."

Later,

George

Ill ask around but i'm almost positive there's no way (that we know of) to cook directly to the internal storage. However instead of changing your xml file I could add coreplayer and Skyfire cabs to the internal storage cabs list in the first post. They already have to use that to get Opera and google maps anyways so its no big deal in the relation to flashing. The PM will allow for attachments I think, but if not just let me know and ill send you my email. Thanks for all the help!

Well what you want is possible but prob not the way you think. The home screen is already altered with a Max Manila theme form Maxycy over at xda. There are several different versions that are cab installable and there appear to be some with a call history and voicemail notification area built in. Read through that thread and see if theres one that will work for VGA 2.5 1921 that you like. The other way to to it would be to edit the manila files themselves and all the registry's that go along with them and that's a little over my geek rating at the moment.

Now for the good news... If you can wait a couple days or so (maybe less) I'll have an updated version of my 2.5 ROM out. The new version has the manila Locker which does integrate a missed calls notification on the screen when locked. (similar to s2u2) This version also fixes the email freeze issue and will have Manila TV too, so it's definately worth the wait imo.

I tried it and look good but for some reason after I select all messages for text messages tab, the phone freezes most of the time and I have to soft reset. I usually setup exchange account, switch text to classic mode, sync with myphone and then switch back to threaded mode.

Was using OMJ's rom and did not experience this. Any thoughts?

Question about this ROM before I flash to it.

Does the Internet tab in Manila work with Opera when opera is installed on internal storage or does it default to mobile IE? I did a quick search of this thread and I couldn't find the answer.

Problem appears to be HTC messaging client. Before selecting all messages I see the latest text. After selecting all messages I only see messages upto 1/24/10. How can I disable htc messaging and go back to windows the way OMJ has it when selecting "All Messages"? Already cleared storage btw.

Thank you!

Usually when you install opera it will ask you if you want it to be the default browser. after that it will open up with the manilla internet tab.

Hmm I use Exchange and I'm not having that issue. No freezes at all so far. My exchange is not syncing correctly right now but I can't tell if it's got to do with Google or the ROM. It did hook up and sync fine earlier today.

Is anyone else having the all text messages freezing issue?

How do you like the TV part? Took me some time to get all the links together and the logos cut and photoshopped to size, but I figured it will come with me on any future device I may get (next up probably the Touch Pro 2) so it was worth the effort to me. Besides, it was worth it just to see my friends with Iphones, Droids and Blackberries drooling over the tab. :-)

Upon first install I had 61 MB available memory.

The messaging area causes freezing. Not with "All Messages" but related to the "Menu" button.

I like the Full QWERTY keyboard better than the previous one.

To all:

Regarding Manila TV, change the setting in the Coreplayer to match the same full screen and left-handed view used by Windows Media Player.

1. Click on the "Menu" button and navigate down to "Tools", then click "Settings." Put check mark next to "Play at open in fullscreen." Then click "OK."

2. Click on the "Menu" button, navigate to "Options," click on "Orientation," change checkmark to "Left-handed." Click "Close."

Next time you load a TV channel it will be full screen sideways, left-bound, and matches the default orientation setting of all Windows Media Player streams.

He's speaking of 61mb of storage. I use a 24b pagepool so memory should be fine. I have mine comepletely set up with exchange push, lumous, bluetooth running 24/7 and I have 92.99 mb of program memory available right now. The battery usually lasts me 12 to 20 hours depending on if It's heavy or light use. (I am running the battery saver cab)

Thanks, maxx. I'm still waiting on an answer about the HTC Messaging client in the kitchen thread, however, I still haven't had any freezes from texting. (I've even tried to make it freeze) I can confirm the Menu softkey does not work on the Text tab but it's not causing a freeze for me either. I would like to remind anyone having issues that you DO still have to flash back to stock/shipped before flashing to a ROM with a different system. If you did not then that may have something to do with your freezing bugs. I am still testing and looking for a fix to the menu button though.

Hitting the Menu button in Messages brought up the typical menu for me last night, but then it froze. I can't duplicate that today, hitting Menu does nothing, but it also does not freeze.

Later tonight I'll try the flash again, this time after going to stock ROM first.

Thanks so much for numbers and information PMDColeslaw and georgepa. Cheers!

The reason for asking is that I just wanted to figure out if my Diamond would be running critically low on main storage or main program memory prior to flashing it. With OMJ's fairly recent 28014 v1.5 Sense 2.5 ROM (which I really appreciate), the storage memory available is 46 MB and the main program memory is 105 MB, just after flash. Then, once I move everything possible to internal storage, load all my programs etc... (almost all to internal storage), main storage available drops down to 12 MB's. This 12 MB number goes down to about 1 MB of main storage left, if I let the Application Data\HTC\HTC Album Cache fill up completely, and do not wipe the large album cache files daily. Anyway, with your latest ROM, it looks like my fully loaded Diamond would still have around 16 MB's of main storage left. The big plus is that the HTC Album application data would not need to cleaned daily, and the system would include HTC TV with georgepa's channels. More cheers!

Thanks again,
R

Wow! You must store a lot of stuff on the device storage to only have 16mb left.

Has anyone been able to get hotmail to work on the latest version of PMD ROM? First I was getting an error so then I installed the Windows Live mobile cab and it looks like it is working and it finishes but it doesn't show my hotmail as an available account. I've tried with Sense enabled and disabled but I haven't been able to get it to work either way.

--------I got it working. Not sure why it started working, I installed all of my other program cabs and then I decided to try to get hotmail again and sure enough it worked perfectly.

Actually I try as hard as I can not to store anything on main storage. To clarify, almost everything is installed to Internal Storage or moved there with SKtools, including wallpapers, pictures, music, docs, vids, etc... That said, Application Data, specifically the HTC Album Cache and to a lesser degree HTC ProgLaucher, as well as other non HTC app data, eat up a lot of the remaining main storage memory. I do load around 100 extra programs and games, but 230+ MB's go to internal storage, and only around 2 MB's actually install to the main storage programs folder. Granted, there are portions of some programs that install to their specific Windows folders and to the root of the Windows folder. Still, I do not think they account for more 34 MB's total, and this number includes all contacts, added custom Sense mods, custom taskbar, and data. Anyway, main storage space has been an real issue here with Sense 2.5 combined with WM6.5.3 and the Diamond's limited main storage space, to date. Nonetheless, I've been trying to keep an eye on your kind work since georgepa pointed it out to me in another thread. Guess the bottom line is that I need to start with a light 6.5.3 Sense 2.5 ROM like yours, then cab install everything possible to internal storage and move everything else possible there as well, in order to keep my system from getting critically low on main storage memory.

Yikes, do not mean to type ramble, too much coffee today, lol...

Thanks again for your PMD custom ROM. Cheers!
Best to all,
R

Yes, that is your best bet. You can put a ton of stuff in Internal Storage, so most of the things that are cooked into OMJs or Mighty's ROMs are unnecessary memory wasters.

The previous ROM had 81MB of Storage memory available. Not sure how PMD does it. I tried OMJs kitchen and stripped the file off almost everything I could conceivably do without or put into Internal Storage, and I didn't come close. So I gave up. :)

As for cab-installing things into Internal Storage: When you install, say, Skyfire, Opera Mobile 10, Sprint Navigation, Garmin XT, Call of Duty, Virtual Mobile Pool, into Internal Storage they install some stuff into Main Memory, even though they load perfectly fine JUST from Internal Storage. So, another flash is needed to remove Main Memory use while still having the program ready to go off Internal Storage. I have about 60 programs on
Internal Storage which don't need to be installed at all anymore, no matter how many flashes I perform, they are always ready to go immediately after any flash and aren't a draw on Main Memory. Unfortunately, many Gameloft games only work from Main Memory, so they have to stay outside.

Thanks for the helpful tips georgepa. Cheers!

Wow, it's funny that you mentioned the Internal Storage trick, as I've actually been leaving everything possible loaded on Internal Storage for a long time now. Actually it's been a dirty trick here since the PPC-6700 and miniSD card days in late 2005 and 2006. Back then, I figured it out by accident, but it saved space and time, and I could just add shortcuts to the start menu programs folder when needed and be good to go with many of my favorite programs. You are also so right about Gameloft. What a pain! That said, some of my other programs do not run right unless they load portions to the Windows folder as well. So I have to rerun the cabs for them, and some need keys reentered, but it's not a big deal. Nonetheless, I'm going to try your second flash trick, and see if I can save even more space and cut the reload time further. Many thanks!

Best to all,
R

First of all, awesome job! I love the TV and this seems like a pretty stable setup (I tried to break it and haven't managed to yet). I'm a Bell Mobility customer, so installed the dcd Bell Mobility cab and I think that broke some of the taskbar icons. Is there somewhere I can find the icons you cooked in to this in order to replace them? Thanks for any help you can offer; the ugly stock volume and battery icon look like chumps next to the nice blue ones for the signal and data connection!

There are programs that work perfectly fine just off "Internal Storage." Opera Mobile 10, Skyfire Browser, Pandora, etc. Instead of installing them to "Device" choose the "Internal Storage" method. Then all you have to do is run the program off "Internal Storage." You may also create shortcuts to those programs and put them into the Quicklinks.

However, when you first install a program into "Internal Storage" you also install stuff into the device, even though the program can be run entirely from the "Internal Storage" area. Do that with 10 programs and you notice your Storage Memory depleted. Thus, reflash, gain all your Storage Memory back, and run the installed programs directly from the "Internal Storage" area.
