Re: Replacement for Juicy
Haha, sorry if I’ve offended anyone by my “ego tag” comment; it wasn’t directed towards anyone in specific…
Honestly, if someone wanted to take credit for and/or steal a .rom, it would be pretty easy to do given the tools available. IMHO, a simple tag in the system information is much more elegant than a silly customized start-up bitmap or animation. As for the remarks about Telus startup animations, yes I think those should be removed too. If I download a .rom and it has another carriers branding, I will either remove the animation or simply not use the .rom on my phone. As a “developer” of freeware applications, I see it all the time. Developers have very limited concern for aesthetics of their application. They take a perfectly functioning application and turn it into a steaming pile of ugly/unusable crap. With a delicate balance of functionality and aesthetics, you have yourself a “polished” application. This is why companies like Apple are doing so well in the marketplace. They technically don’t make the best hardware or software but combine the 2 into a polished product. |

i fail to see why a boot splash screen is an ego tag... hell i don't even know what an ego tag is. is that some super secret developer talk for im jealous i cant use photoshop? and as for Mighty's rom having mighty moues on the splash screen. if you are worried that your friends and co workers or what ever are going to judge you on a splash screen and segregate you like the stinky kid in class. then you need new friends and better business associates. i could have a milky green pile of baby puke as my splash screen i don think my friends, co-workers, business associates or boss would judge me on it. they probably wouldn't care enough about what my phone looks like on boot up to even notice.

Ego Tags are just that, tags added to something to acknowledge the efforts of an individual or group. You see it all the time with “pirated” software. Each group will include their own .nfo file in the .rar to get recognized by the community. I’ve seen some instances where the .rar was nothing but a collection of compressed files that each included a separate/different .nfo. FYIY, I’m merely trying to explain why I like Juicy .roms more than the others. I was just giving my opinion on the subject. When I installed the Juicy .rom on my phone, it was not branded to any specific creator or service. The .rom, for the most part, looked like something that might have come directly from HTC. |

Plus, you have no reason to show a "business associate" how you boot up your phone. Furthermore, if that somehow becomes a "deal breaker" you need to work a little more on your salesmanship/interpersonal relations... Take your head out of your ***
