Re: Replacement for Juicy

I'm going to take off TF3D in my next build and slap a huge nTT font in bright green on the home screen for my next release. To use it you're going to have to use Voice Command and say the word "Entity..." before it decides to pay attention to you. I'm working on this right now! Then EVERYONE will know you have an "nTT" phone.

Oh and the Opera Homepage will be my facebook profile.

Re: Replacement for Juicy

Haha, sorry if I’ve offended anyone by my “ego tag” comment; it wasn’t directed towards anyone in specific…

Honestly, if someone wanted to take credit for and/or steal a .rom, it would be pretty easy to do given the tools available. IMHO, a simple tag in the system information is much more elegant than a silly customized start-up bitmap or animation.

As for the remarks about Telus startup animations, yes I think those should be removed too. If I download a .rom and it has another carriers branding, I will either remove the animation or simply not use the .rom on my phone.

As a “developer” of freeware applications, I see it all the time. Developers have very limited concern for aesthetics of their application. They take a perfectly functioning application and turn it into a steaming pile of ugly/unusable crap. With a delicate balance of functionality and aesthetics, you have yourself a “polished” application. This is why companies like Apple are doing so well in the marketplace. They technically don’t make the best hardware or software but combine the 2 into a polished product.

you didn't offend any one. you just don't make sense. every device i own. TV, computer everything. identifies its builder by a splash screen. its not a matter of ego its a matter of identifying your product so its origin, builder and developer are identified for later reference. its very simple. people like eye candy, its a known consumer fact. and if your software that you develop don't contain anything to please the eye i can guarantee you a lesser application with more eye candy is more popular then yours. have you noticed how many users here alone want screen shots of a rom just to see if they like the theme? that's the whole selling point of a rom 90% of the time... they could care less whats in it they always want to see what it looks like.

i fail to see why a boot splash screen is an ego tag... hell i don't even know what an ego tag is. is that some super secret developer talk for im jealous i cant use photoshop? and as for Mighty's rom having mighty moues on the splash screen. if you are worried that your friends and co workers or what ever are going to judge you on a splash screen and segregate you like the stinky kid in class. then you need new friends and better business associates. i could have a milky green pile of baby puke as my splash screen i don think my friends, co-workers, business associates or boss would judge me on it. they probably wouldn't care enough about what my phone looks like on boot up to even notice.

Really?! Your DVD player/TV or consumer electronics product displays a splash screen acknowledging the person(s) responsible for creating/writing the software? A simple HTC splash screen would be suffice for the Diamond…

Ego Tags are just that, tags added to something to acknowledge the efforts of an individual or group. You see it all the time with “pirated” software. Each group will include their own .nfo file in the .rar to get recognized by the community. I’ve seen some instances where the .rar was nothing but a collection of compressed files that each included a separate/different .nfo.

FYIY, I’m merely trying to explain why I like Juicy .roms more than the others. I was just giving my opinion on the subject. When I installed the Juicy .rom on my phone, it was not branded to any specific creator or service. The .rom, for the most part, looked like something that might have come directly from HTC.

the splash identifies the name of the device usual what it does. the name of the rom is Juggalo. the splash states that. and sorry juicys rom is branded Microsoft even says so on the splash screen. the only difference is that microsoft is a corporate entity and brands according to logo name and company name rather then a single developer. But i am a single developer. would you feel better if i branded it Juggalo INC.? better call up Mr.Gates and tell him you don't like his ego tag lol your to funny. your explanations don't make sense. i fire up my Samsung TV and it says the companies name there lol. you cant criticize other cooks for putting there name in there creation. especially if your going to be hypocritical and not criticize Microsoft for branding there developments. and as for the pirated software, you dont even know how that scene works have you ever made a crack your self or decompiled one. they hex brand all there work and yes some even do change the program splashes. again im going to say ur argument is poor. especially when you singled MightyMike out because he chose to have Mighty Mouse as his boot screen and criticize how that would reflect on the person using his rom in a professional manner. it shouldn't make a difference if your business associates are solid and your friends are your friends.

Amen. Mighty Mouse is sweet. As the creator of the aforementioned splash screen I feel obligated to defend it.

Plus, you have no reason to show a "business associate" how you boot up your phone. Furthermore, if that somehow becomes a "deal breaker" you need to work a little more on your salesmanship/interpersonal relations...

Take your head out of your ***
