Re: *UPDATED* [11-12-08] Juicy ROM 3.3 [SYS OS 5.2.19972 Build 19972.3.3] [UC]

Is the Juicy ROM updated with all the latest video/audio codecs?... In a nutshell, should I be looking for a 3rd party movie player (i.e. coreplayer, etc)?

If so, what do you guys recommend? I'm a HUGE fan of VLC for the PC, but I'm not sure of what is good out there for VM.

First off, LOVE LOVE LCOE Juicy 3.2 on my Sprint.. so damn fast. Thank Juicy! U da man!

Ok. So I have 5,000 sms texts I have saved over the last months (it used to be more, but a backup I made got lost so now I'm down to the 5.000). Whenever I hard reset the original Sprint build, I would reimport them using PIMBackup. Since it was so many, I would import them, then go into the SMS screen and then just see the "1 conversation selected" field flicker for about an hour as the messages all got threaded. If I went to another screen, then it would screw up and I'd have to redo it.

I tried this now with Juicy 3.2 about 5 times. i even reflashed and reimported. The "1 conversation selected" will flicker for a minute or 2, and then stop. I left it alone for a full night, but the messages aren't all threading. I will go to a message that should have a back and forth conversation and just see my own texts (or if somone just messaged me I will see their new text in there as well... but not all the old ones).

I tried plugging it in, making sure that the SMS screen is not interrupted, etc etc. What am I doing wrong??? How do I fix this?

Thanks in advanced.

First off, thank you.

I believe the problem lies in how PIMBackup archives messages, when you resort to an archive they will never be threaded correctly. This was the case on all my ROMs.

Re: *UPDATED* [11-12-08] Juicy ROM 3.3 [SYS OS 5.2.19972 Build 19972.3.3] [UC]

? over-sensitive motion detector

With Juicy 3.2 and 3.3 my Sprint Diamond turns off (off, not just stand-by) with moderately vigorous movement. I have had the phone turned off just by walking around with it in my pockets. I reflashed to the stock Sprint ROM and find that the phone still turns off with sudden acceleration, but requiring more force than with the Juicy ROM's.

So, assuming I don't have a bad phone, I gather that the phone shuts itself off with rapid ac/de-celeration (like a drop to the floor), but this feature is more sensitive in the Juicy builds. This is probably a registry setting, and I want to ask which one ?

Thanks.

Wow. Support from the man himself =D>

Ok. I'm thinking of Using Jeyo Mobile Companion to grab them all and then reduce the size. What would you suggest for backing up and restoring SMS in the future?

Thanks for the hard work Juicy. I still have the MMS video bug. When I hit record it displays "Unable to capture video. Disk full". I'm not sure why this is happening.

Thanks again for your hard work =D>

I found this guide which threads my messages properly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420564

But a simpler way I found is to do this before you import your messages:
1) Change the SMS settings from Threaded -> Classic.
2) Import your messages, check to make sure it's set to the classic view and not threaded.
3) Soft reset
4) Change SMS settings back to Threaded
5) Open up SMS and let it rethread, if it still looks like the classic view, close and reopen.

This has worked for me after flashing the last few ROM updates, though I only have about 30 text messages, so I don't know what would happen with a lot more.
