Trying to sync... but not having an easy job of it. So far I've only gotten the contacts to sync.
And there's a lot of hesitation and jerkiness in the scrolling and transitions (both Manila & apps/menus).

Can you show a non-landscape version? I dropped 23037 into Calku's kitchen with a few small modifications to get it to work and of course, I am a noob and Manila 2.1 sits about 4-5 pixels too low on the screen, leaving a gap between the manila interface and the top start bar/notifications area.

I don't mind messy, since I've spent time optimizing other kitchens to minimize ROM usage for my Diamond. I'm more than willing to take an alpha/beta/private release. I'm gonna do some surgery to it anyway to lower the ROM usage (again, like I do to every kitchen). Might as well do it early versus later.

What makes you think that? First - there is no "stock" 6.5. Second, as is obvious from his change log, his ROM is a collection of current packages from a number of sources.
