yes you need an unlocked boot loader

Just unboxed my third Sprint Diamond (last two went back due to both D pad and overheating issues). I plan on flashing to 2.6. I'm thinking about also trying the VZW radio ROM, should I do that radio flash first? And is this the correct ROM I would use -- http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36245 ?

Just want to be 100% sure since I'll be entering bricking territory.

No. That's not for the Diamond !!! DO NOT FLASH IT !!!
Go to this thread here and read it thru completely before even thinkin about flashing the radio.
