this may be kind of a stupid question but when you flash back to the sprint rom, do you flash back to the "shipped" sprint rom or the "stock" one? I'm guessing it doesn't matter but I just want to make sure

it's not stupid at all. I asked this numerous times but the consensus seems to be to flash the shipped rom which resets both the rom and radio and essentially brings it back to factory settings. that way it's a clean slate to work from but someone else may have a different opinion.

I know what you mean. frankly it defies logic but for some reason it works for minor quirks and such. Hope it works for you.

Alright I got the shipped rom... but...

Kinda tells me it's not CE OS 19965 Build 19965, Radio 1.00.00F

Should I still go for it?
