Yes I am sure those of us that have been here for a long time know that many posted questions have been answered long ago. If only the "newbie" would start by either using the search feature or even googling the question they would find their answer, but that is why this is called a forum, and when a new thread is started with a question already answered, the veterans can give the most concise answer and save others much effort, and when that "newbie" becomes a veteran, they may return the favor WITHOUT ranting.

Going to Sprint may be a viable choice maybe ultimately the only choice. The forum has spoken, and the fact that MANY members seemingly like their Sprint service could have answered service questions and serve as a decision maker for this poster.

when every single post even asking for assistance, about a specific feature (for example) that's carrier specific, chime in omg go to sprint. No one asked if they wanted to switch and for the life of me I don't understand what you mean whatsover. The topic has NOTHING TO DO with choosing phone companies, its about getting a pocket pc to work. That's the issue, and I am addressing what's hindering it. Dumb? Maybe. But you didn't have to post either so you're not pretty better than me...

To the OP, I understand you don't want to vzw convert, but at this point, what choice do you have? You even said your phone is not picking up alltel anything. Which means in part the merger is semi complete. My suggestion to use a vzw prl is simple

switch devices
deactivate the alltel device for some crappy vzw device and switch it back on. THat I have done and the esn was luckily added to the vzw dmd. What that would do essentially (and hopefully) transfer all info to your info to the vzw network while the system will say okay, this is a vzw device. It worked once for me...

But there is also the option of using bad illegal things forbidden to be discussed on ppcgeeks as another option. Insofar though, you don't have many options and I am seriously sorry because I've been there. But you do have SOME...just not many available...

Also what happened to another member is that they didn't activate vzw equipment for months and they were going to be charged for not activating equipment. So be very careful with that...

Some of the members that have been around for a while seem to be the worst and that's why I am using VIP. Some people here just need to pull the PPC out their butt and be a little more helpful rather than throwing out insults when some new guy offers his opinion or is a little off topic.

Hmm... Well what they are doing is illegal too. Denying service then forcing someone in to a cheaper device. Also it's not that I don't want the convert. I'm excited about, verizon does have a good network. I don't want to be raped in the *** because of it though. My phone picks up the phone signal... But the data has been locked out by them, although they claim its because of a different version of CDMA. I'm using a verizon prl... The phone is activated under a verizon network, and is programmed to verizon. I can *228 it just fine, and I have modified the settings manually. Nothing works

Side note, Texting is working sometimes now. It's on and off. Data is not working at all. Very annoying, and no it has nothign to do with where i am. I also shipped their box back to them and wrote a polite letter that said "You are worse than those scammers who want me to send my laptop to them in Nigeria, and they will send me a cashier's check. I'm not going to be scammed out of what I have."

Alltel phones should work on verizon and I would suggest updating your contract with Alltel cause you can keep Alltel up to 2012 I think(thats what I'm doing) So your Alltel phone will work anyways. Verizon has no good data plan is why I'm staying for the price of my account now I would get same features but instead of unlimited data I would only get 5gb. So I would suggest to update your contract if you like them you'll still get same service as if you had verizon just must better plan!

Can't upgrade. We are no longer Alltel. We're sucked into Verizon now.
