Thumbs down Goodbye Sprint...

I must preface this by saying I Love the HTC family of products (I had the mogul and original touch) but Sprint has lost a 7 customer. It all began with intermittent power issues, then the poor phone wouldn't sync and while driving in rush hour Atlanta Traffic the screen just starting dying (oh did I mention I drive a manual) . Because I knew I was having issues for the past 3 weeks, I put my tp back to stock and relocked it ready to have the "professional tech" troubleshoot it. I went to the store as I was instructed, and was told they were out of stock and because I was able to make calls and they didn’t register any issues with the phone. I wouldn’t receive a loaner and would have to come back.

Now please understand I'm no noob, I reflashed, replace sd card, tried all the tweaks, contacted HTC and Microsoft, replaced chargers, even reformatted my laptop and nothing worked. I had been to store and worked with tech support over the phone earlier in the week. Oh and I dummied down so the techs will speak freely while troubleshooting, to get insight on a fix. I'm a former IT Director and have a masters in accounting so I've had a little education.

Well that day was the last straw, the rep didn’t realize I paid full price for the phone and my contract expired 2 days earlier. He treated as if I had no options because he saw the new phone and ASSumed ne contract. I made mind that by the service Sprint had provided over the past 7 years they would never get another shot or dime. While in the store I called a few co-workers and did a quick survey of how their providers were treating them and their coverage. And was asked to leave and did the whole carrier. And the funny thing about Mini-Malls there is always competition next door.

To make a long story short I went with at&t HTC Fuze aka Touch Pro... And I must say the gsm touch is miles ahead. Without Flashing and Tweaking Out the box it's a killer. FM radio, Audio Fixed, Bluetooth works, battery life and maybe it's just me but it's prettier LOL.

Things I've notice the sprint has crippled the phone so bad it has effected the real performance. And I know you are saying "you got a bad unit" did I mention this was the 3rd and everyone I know with the sprint touch pro is having similar issues. I'm a road warrior with a phone "If you advertise it... it better do it"... and I did I mention I got it for 149.00, they price matched the internet, so and I still have another $50 rebate. Over 2 years I will pay $15 more a month but the product is well worth it.

I Love the phone and I miss the cdma chefs you are the best ... you guys i will miss …dream_phyre, Juicy, Juggalo_X, jakdillard

Re: Goodbye Sprint...

You can plug that identical story in with ALL carriers. I have been through them all and I hate to tell you this, but the only folks worse than AT&T is verizon. As far as "crippled" goes... I am not sure what you are basing that on. If you mean that you have FM radio and that sprint doesn't, I highly doubt that the sprint customers will tell you they view the phone as crippled without that feature. FM radio is a waste.

Don't get me wrong, sprint was dumb for letting you go... especially since you didnt have a contract. But if that was the case, the warranty for any phone is 30 day return no questions. You should have just returned it and picked up a new one at a different location.

Good luck with AT&T. But the reality is that any carrier is good until you have a problem... then just about all of em suck. Sprint is the least sucky out of the 4 carriers I have been with.

the further you get away from the manufactures specs , the more gray area you get into. The FM radio is great, but everything else really works well out of the box and that is priceless. No having to tweak the audiopara files to hear or power settings to get real battery preformance, etc to make the simply things that should work. And better yet my updates come from HTC now and not dictated by carriers whims or the chefs porting abilities. (remember the mogul and touch GSP issue).

Regardless if Carrier doesn't include a piece of coding in your OS, a superior driver set or even a feature set I consider it crippled. I deserve the hardware, software and functionality promised. That why I didn't go to Verizon's Touch Pro the memory is crippled. Att fuze was the closest to original HTC spec, short the front camara.
.

And for the record I listen to radio alot... I manage an advertise department ... send a half a million on it a year... so what important to me may not be important to you... but don't take away my options to have it Sprint...

PS my sprint issues didn't start overnight... 7 years... I married the HTC Brand not the Carrier.

I worked as a contractor for Cingular in the old days when the aquired att the first time and I understand the technology and billing very well. At the time I decided not to give the company where I worked my business, because my information and account history would never be in their billing system. And the employee discounts didn't suit my needs. On this purchase I decided to take the upfront saving off the phone pricing it at $100 after a $50 rebate then to pay $200 more. So the $20 buck extra a month over the life of the comtract is ok for me.

Best of luck to you with ATT......Just remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

On a side note. When talking about a hostile take over like you do in your signature. Take a second to think about whether or not Sprint was really out to get "You". I would bet that there are a million+ customers whom are completely satisfied with them. Nice positive thinking though.

Lol i prefer to think of it as the lessor of 2 evil's, I know the att way of business from being a former contractor. And I will pay more for what I perceive as a better total QOS. And I love being able to pop my sim out and change phones at a whim, ebay here I come LOL... I stayed with Sprint for years because they where cheaper, but I've learned my lesson. And now it's time to move on.
