without it.. it's not a huge deal breaker for me as my phone is on vibrate 99% of the time anyhow (at work and home) although I do like my slacker radio and pandora hahahah..

Sound will come soon .. I got faith in the dev team
This is exactly my thoughts! I mean I would love sound, but I rarely use it. The reason I keep booting back into windows is because of the power management, I can't even keep my phone on for like 3 hours with moderate use.

With heavy use I can get 4 hours or so out of mine ... I've even used it till i got the "15% left" message from android.. then after booting back to WM, I realized that there's more gas in the tank than what android is telling me

If I'm in android and I let it charge for several hours, it won't go above 83% or 84% (in android) .. in WinMo it tells me 93%

BUT if I charge it in WinMo then boot android it stays pegged at 100% for quite a while..

Really, 4 hours with heavy use? What exactly do you consider heavy use?

The only way I can get close to 4 hours is if I'm plugging it in every second I get. Like today for example, I got bored, so during the day I had 80% battery left on WinMo then I booted into android, within about an hour my battery dropped down to 15% on android, I then booted back into WinMo, and I had only 20% left. I barely did anything, I played a little suduko, browsed the internet, and texted a few people.

So if you charge it to 100% in WinMo, you might get better battery life?

Browsing the app market page after page after page, switching wallpapers, texting, facebook, browsing the net... installing different weather apps, messing with them, uninstalling them (lather rinse repeat LOL).. moving widgets, installing stuff from android market etc..

I charge it in WinMo only (this is just my personal choice)..

last night, my batt (in froyo) appeared to go down to 1/4 or so.. then jumped back up after a few minutes.. then jumped back down after another half hour.. I thought I was really close to the 15% message so I booted back into WinMo and still had 64% left..

I turned off the phone and let it charge all night..

Today I'm gonna mess with it constantly again and see how long before it shuts off LOL

Try turning off data sync and location/gps. Seemed to decrease battery consumption for me.

This is a great post. I actually dropped by there today and someone named Cotulla actually got some sound working by disabling sound in windows, then loading android, and someone else verified it worked.

Good stuff!

Re: Worth the wait? Will it one day be "complete enough"?

I honestly don't care about sound. I will boot back into WinMo to use Slacker. But I REALLY care about power management. IF they can get the battery meter working close to 100% and get the phone to last 15 hours on a single charge, I will be in Android 99% of the day.

I am so tired of how slow my WinMo experience is that being in Android running off my Class 6 SDHC is like riding in a Ferarri as compared to riding a tricycle.

That was about the HD2 (Leo) not the Rhodium.

Re: Worth the wait? Will it one day be "complete enough"?

My phone rests in a dock next to my computer most of the day and then is plugged in in the car on my commute. So while I may be the exception to the rule, power management's not my personal top priority. I use my phone to stream podcasts/music for hours a day and since Android has a myriad of great multimedia apps sound is definitely at the top of my wish list.

Unfortunately though, there's no multimedia do-it-all app like Kinoma (which I love) on Android. Not to get on too much of a tangent but does anybody have some podcast app suggestions once they do get sound working? I actually prefer the way Kinoma streams most everything on demand (since I'm in 3G coverage 99% of the time) rather than having to schedule downloads and worry about space management. So I was trying to find something comparable on Android, but not having much success. Listen from Google looks promising, but it's tough to tell without really getting to use it on a daily basis.
