Most live wallpapers seem to work fine for me. Are there any in particular you're trying to get to work?

i don't have the option to use a live wallpaper on any launcher. when i change the wallpaper the option to choose a live wallpaper literally isn't there. i just assumed it was just left out when we switched from 2.2 to 2.2.1 (because its not stock on android 2.2.1 builds)

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/221] FRX03 Reference!

Live wallpapers were removed in the 'reference' builds because they were horrible. Slowed the system down, and just made the overall performance suck even worse.

I'm sure you can find the APK's floating around an old blazn build or something, I don't think they were ever removed from that build.

Anyone else have issues with losing your data connection? I seem to lose mine a few times a day and the only way to get it back is to restart the phone. I thought maybe it had something to do with charging it from the computer, but even if I don't plug it into the computer it will just stop working at random. Any ideas? Thanks

This has always happened to me, on and off. Mostly it happens when I'm at work, where there are many dead spots, but sometimes it happens at home where I always have a good signal.

I can almost always re-establish a data connection by doing this:
- Settings / Wireless&Networks / Airplane Mode ON
- wait for airplane icon up top
- turn Airplane Mode OFF
- Settings / Wireless&Networks / Mobile Networks / Network Operators
- should search by itself; hit Search Networks if it doesn't
- choose Select Automatically

And that's it.

Yep, happens to me often. I use Quick Settings to toggle data back on and off. There's even a preference to put it into the top tray but hide the icon so you can easily pull it up whenever you slide down the shade or whatever. I've found that to work best.

In my startup file I have xandroid OC'd to 767000 but when when I use any benchmarking tool they always report only 748mhz... can someone give me the skinny on why this is?

For me 767xxx seems to be my devices limit, it just boot-loops after that or hangs while loading haret. I'm fully aware that each device has it's own unique max chip speed ect. I'm more curious about the disparity in my startup.txt and what the system 'sees' as my CPU speed.

There are clean devisors, and Android automatically drops you to the nearest devisor down. It's like in the OC app for Wince how you can't get as granular as only a couple MHz at a time.

couple q's

1) is there a way to turn on the keyboard backlight when slid open?
2) the device goes into standby/sleep too fast. how can i change that? (regular display settings seem to be ignored)

thanks and keep up the great work, devs!

1) Not until we get the kernel issue fixed. Either the kbd backlight is always on, or always off... your choice. You can have it always on by booting haret with it on in WinMo.

2) Never tried messing with the settings for automatic sleep - I'd imagine it's in the display settings, it has no effect? Keep in mind, the lock screen is different from "normal" use - it'll turn off very quickly from the lock screen, because either you're unlocking the phone or you're not... Kinda like your mom, "inside or out!"

thanks for the quick response! it's just that the backlight times out after about 5 seconds, which is really quick (a screen tap brings it back, but after 10 sec it goes into sleep.) and YOUR MOM! LOL

Didn't mean to make a your mom joke there, haha but ok.

So you're saying if you go to Settings -> Display -> Screen Timeout, and you change it, the change doesn't effect it? Mine is set to 1 minute, and it definitely takes a minute for the screen to time out (assuming it's not on the lock screen again....)

I'm pretty sure that screen timeout under display settings works for me too. I get at least a minute out of mine.

I seem to remember someone made a patch for this but it just hasn't been merged into the git yet, is that right? Has it gotten more difficult to get patches merged in for some reason?

No patch yet. WisTilt2 said that every RHOD is different, evidently in a fairly drastic way. He's also the one who has been submitting most of the fixes of late, and he's been MIA. He said he would be back after Thanksgiving, but I haven't heard from him... We need like 5 more of him, and this project'll be done in a few weeks :p

I know there was a fix not too long ago for the "repeatedly pressing volume button crashes Android" and for a while that issue went away, but I've been seeing it happen again lately. anybody know if maybe the fix for that was pulled out of the latest builds?

The "fix" was disabling JIT, which occurs in the system image. If you're on FRX03, then you have the 'fix'. Where are you experiencing the issue? Perhaps a new kernel introduced the issue.

I am on FRX03, and I guess I need to clarify because it's not crashing when i'm changing the volume, it's crashing when I change the "in call volume" during a call. when I try, the call goes to speakerphone, then the system locks up, then android reboots itself.

Hm. Let me see if I can recreate that. This was the exact bug I was trying to track down, and stinebd had me disable JIT because he said it basically prevents us from debugging the error.

After disabling JIT... I couldn't reproduce the error. And so FRX03 was born...

I'll see if I can reproduce this on the newest kernel/rootfs.

Just tried, abused the heck outta the volume control... No resets.

Don't forget that you can donate directly to the XDAndroid project to help with the upkeep costs of hosting and all that jazz too: Donate - The XDAndroid Project

Also, for anyone looking for an alternative to receiving donations through PayPal (which has its restrictions), I've done quite a bit of research on it and found Dwolla to be one of the most reasonable services. Check it out: Dwolla Help » Fees

Make sure your system image is a clean FRX03 image. To check, while in Android go to Settings -> About Phone. At the bottom it should have the system image name/number.

Everything not working is always "being worked on"... it's not like we just forget about certain features. Usually someone will make a breakthru, others will refine that code and then we get a commit. Unfortunately, not much ground had been broken lately on BT...

As the remaining few bugs fall, it will get more attention.

Camera and BT. Let's hear the status reports on both and what needs to be done(or what the issues are that are impacting further development).

On the flipside, if you're a contributor and receive a donation, the least you could do is send a "thank you" to those making donations. It could even be an automated reply, but it's just common courtesy to say thanks when someone gives you money when they don't have to.

Not to mention, it's nice confirmation that the transaction did indeed go through.

I would try less drastic things first, such as figure out if something changed that may be causing it, or wiping the data.img off first and see if that fixes it. Many times when mine gets a little funky it just takes a new data.img to get it working right again.

For all those complaining about Bluetooth. Gingerbread has a new bluetooth stack.

If we are to get Gingerbread to work once AOSP has the source, I suggest it wait so work isn't repeated. The new stack is a newer version of BlueZ. My it is more a common linux bluetooth stack than an android specific one. Might be easier to get it working.

Also listed on the AOSP FAQ is this
Q. What is needed for Bluetooth 2.1 and Simple Pairing support?
A. We need to move to a Bluez 4.x version.

TP2 is spec'd for 2.1 + EDR.

Sounds like smart logic to me... except for who knows how long before we get a taste of gingerbread on our TP2's...

You've been thanked, that's all I needed for the greenlight. Was it difficult? When I first tried xandroid (back in June/July) the steps for the 1gb data.img over on looked kinda confusing. You have a link to better info or the steps you used?
