There's been no movement in the Blazn builds in almost a month... the improvements have come on the reference side of the builds more updates than you can shake a stick at!

That's a GREAT catch on your part... I dont even check the site for my updates nowadays... hopefully we'll get word of what's going on later this morning? Since both the cab file and rar file we both updated roughly the same time (2 hours ago as of posting this) I'm thinking it's a legit update of some sort :)

EDIT the actual file names are: XDAndroid2.2Froyo121610.cab or XDAndroid2.2Froyo121610.rar depending on which file you select from the page.

Are you on boost CDMA...? If so, you'll need to set force_cdma to 1 in your startup.txt

Not *entirely* true... Reef actually has a build ready to go, but he's having a silly issue with the title bar color - every time he (or I) change it, the entire system becomes completely unstable. I can change the color of the text, but anytime we try to touch the color of the titlebar, it freaks out... I'll try to get ahold of Reef again this week, see if we can release something for Christmas... :D

Does anyone know if the new build includes BZO's fix for the Sleep Of Death problem? I was getting the dreaded SOD at least twice a day before, and I haven't had one since installing his kernel.

What new build...? The one on reef's site? I'm not aware of a new bundle/build yet. Too many things are changing to justify a new build. I mean a lot isn't even committed yet, so whipping up a new bundle seems utterly pointless, since we'll have to do it again in a few weeks once this stuff gets committed.

Hi arrrghhh. I was referring to the build from the first post of this thread, with the big button that sends you to Downloads - Project Android.

Hey guys, I just noticed the Dec 20 date on Reefermatness's download site. Not sure what's in it. Anyways, if anyone is interested, I created an all-in-one package using tiad8's files that make up a super fast and smooth android experience; here's the reference link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2017935

I just took everthing from the package (modules, zimage, etc) and replaced what was on the card. I was already using the 11-29 driver setup. My phone is as stable as the video tiad8 made, though maybe not as fast when playing angry birds seasons.

OK, so I check the "supposedly" new update (the .rar package) on the download site and didn't see anything new. If you extract that package, the most current date on any file or folder is dated 11/19. I'm not sure if there's anything new here. Refeermatness, can you please comment? Thanks.

OK, I must be downloading from the wrong place. I used the download link on the first post of this thread; on there, it says Dec 20 so I thought that was the latest. Do you mind posting the link you use? Thanks.

UPDATE: OK, I must be blind because the latest kernel update is Dec 04 here: http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/and...htc-msm-linux/ and that has more negative votes than positive.

The contents in the latest package posted by Reefermatness seem to be the same as the previous, released on 11/22.

Here are the links I have been checking regarding the latest kernels or system builds. Glemsom's project tracking isn't working until after the new year.

latest kernels:
New Kernel (1240) - Dec. 21, 2010 (Topaz panel: sleep mode adjustment) - xda-developers
Bzo's kernel for OC and SOD fix
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...overclock.html

system (frx03 2.2.1):
[prj][XDANDROID][2.2.1][AOSP][20.11.10]FRX03 SYSTEM UPDATE - xda-developers

I would like to test 1240 (todays latest kernel) with the package you put together because that has been the best scores I've gotten in quadrant. Did you use 11.26 driver in your package or 11.29. Tiad8 posted that 11.29 plays well with the new kernels. Could you create a package with 11.29? Thanks again.

OK, thanks; that explains it. I do have FRX03 2.2.1 as the baseline distribution. I need to grab the latest zImage and modules*.tar.gz and try it with tiad8's files. I did try BZO's kernel 2 days ago and it was sluggish. The only one I have fast and smooth performance are the zImage and modules*.tar.gz posted by tiad8.

I ran bzo's latest kernel for about a day and had some issues with it also, sluggishness basically and more FC's than normal. I then went back to the 1238 kernel, got 20.9 on neocore and 640 on quadrant with a fresh load and a new data.img, but today with the same set up I can't even use the freaking phone in android, it's beyond sluggish and constant FC's. Wwhen I get home I'm going to load up your latest concoction and give that a whirl.

@fishingmedic did u check ur CPU load?? is it constantly at or near 100% ? i was also having alotta problems with the phone freezing and slowing down and though ti was something i was doing wrong. Found out its the server process going crazy and taking all of the available cpu cycles.

there are 3 fixes ( try each of them )
1) make a phone call
2) using dev tools-->bad behavior--> crash server process
3) use maps or places

that usually works for me.

Yeah I just got 650 on quadrant with ndno's package and this had been the most stable xdandroid experience I have had to date. This is everything back to the exact download from ndno. I am running Launcherpro with task killer on stock 6.5 sprint ROM and has been a great setup. No SOD, GPS locks on, smooth scrolling, games are working great (including AB bite), no resets. Is anyone else having any luck with some of the newer kernels? The kernel in NSDO package is commit 1232.

Yea guys, that system_server crap seems to be causing issues more frequently then ever... Hopefully we can track it down soon, basically every single time I've had serious sluggishness and was able to adb in and check top... it was that damn system_server process taking as many processor cycles as it can grab. Very frustrating. Some said going to places/maps fixes it. Seems hit-or-miss for me, but then again so is the issue in general...

hi, guys i just want to share with you guys info on sleep_mode

first test. pm.sleep_mode=2. the phone wake up good and fast.

second test. pm.sleep_mode=1. gone sleep of death

third test. this is where it get interesting pm.sleep_mode=1,2

"BATTERY TRICK" CHARGE YOUR PHONE TO FULL 100%. PHONE MUST BE OFF. The trick is simple. Turn off your phone, plug it into the charger WHILE IT'S OFF, and wait for the charging lights to show up. When you see it, turn on your phone (into winmo) and boot android via haret. Wait till android boots up and the battery logo is showing charging.let it sync in for about 2 minute. Then you can disconnect the charger.
I'm using FRX03 with the driver 11.26 and gralloc 11.30

i did not touch my phone for about 29 hrs with a full charge doing this. when i was finish i had 15% left. impresive

now im going to use it normal and see what happen. thanks

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/221] FRX03 Reference!

OK, I tried using tiad8's files with the latest kernel/modules (1240) and it's very sluggish. Not sure if the libraries posted by tiad8 are not compatible with the latest kernel. I get these on boot up:

"mdp irq already on 4 4 "
"mdp_dma: busy "

but ACL said to ignore them.

Anyways, when it boots up, everything is just so sluggish and I kept get crashes from the launcher (kept getting "force close" window). I tried restarting multiple times with the same sluggishness.

I haven't tried the new kernel without tiad8's files yet; I will continue using tiad8's setup because it's very fast and stable and fluid.

OK, for those of you who have sluggishness using tiad8's files with his posted kernel/modules or my all-in-one package (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...ml#post2017935), make sure you launch haret manually; also make sure your backlight settings are set to auto (enable the 3 checks in the backlight settings); when I do this, my TP2 always comes up running fast and smooth. Most of the times when my TP2 first comes up, it will score a 604 or something like that under Quadrant but when I re-run a second time, it will score 640+; maybe the phone needs to settle out like what tiad8 said.

^ auto backlight is checked? in windows right? just dl'ed your package and will give it a go later tonight. the bootanimations got changed...to what? the nexus X? is there a way back to that xdandroid boot (i really liked that one)

i dont have a spare sd for just android so i use the same for windows and android, a 4gb class 6. (went to best buy/walmart/radio shack and none have class 6) should i backup all files and re format then replace all files (both win n and) would you think it would make improvement speed wise/prevent lagging or just a waste of time?

Yeah, I had all the boxes checked in the Backlight settings under WinMo. I'm not sure if there's any correlation to Android working smoothly, it worked for me; maybe tiad8 can explain.

I like the flying Android animation better than the Nexus One too. I was just copying what tiad8 had on his post; I'm going to revert it back and re-upload the package.

Yes, if there are issues with your SDcard card (fragmentation, previous corruption issues, etc), I would just back it up, reformat it, restore you data. For me, things seem to work more smoothly once I did that; I probably do this every month as a "manual defragmentation" process and just to clean out any corrupted files.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/221] FRX03 Reference!

I just tested the update kernel (build 1245) and it's pretty smooth and fast also; however, I can't register a good score on Quadrant; only in the 550's. I tried this with tiad8's 3D drivers and still the go the same sub-optimal score in the mid 500's. However, the response is good and fast.

Has anybody else experienced the brightness dimming on its own? I always have Automatic brightness Unchecked and have the brightness slider set to 100%, but sometimes the phone goes really dim on its own (not the screen timeout) and when i go back into the display settings it still shows 100% on the slider but i have to move the slider to the left and back to the right to actually get the screen to go back to 100% brightness.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/221] FRX03 Reference!

Well I finally made the plunge. Following the directions, I used Reference, all went well but I did have to manually load the startup utility. It took a couple of tries with startup.txt, placing force_cdma=1 in order to get my service to work. Once I downloaded the Startup Utility, it has the option to force CDMA on. Also took several tries to get Wifi Hotspot (tethering) to function. Found that turning on Wifi first then the Hotspot it would work, even though it then turns off Wifi. The phone was very fast until I loaded it up with apps. Using Fancy Widget for the HTC Clock and that slow down bootup and possible slowed the phone down. I have had the Wifi Tethering on for over 3 hours while using the phone apps and Wifi with no great battery drain. A great surprise from what everyone else has stated. My computer will not recognize the phone (can’t find driver) even though it does charge it. Three thing that I have found not working are known (mic with speaker phone, camera, Bluetooth and only getting free apps in the Market. I know there is a fix for it but can’t find it now.) What a great job everyone has done, donation coming. I would use this full time but need to use Bluetooth. In at least eight hours of use it has been very stable.

The GPS lock takes a few minutes at first, then they are much quicker. Just let Google Maps sit there and after about 5 minutes it will get a lock.
