What is the problem out there that is preventing Flash from working on the TP2? If it's something as simple as tricking the phone into thinking its more then it really is I would think that's very achievable (even if it meant the flash content would run slowly)

I'd really like to see it working though. I need to get this .... Online Poker at Full Tilt Poker - How to Play: Rush Poker Mobile

Also I have seen this .... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...deo-clips.html and I can say pretty confidently it doesn't actually get 10.1 installed.

The devs have pretty much chalked it up to hardware limitations but i know better than to ever count them out!

So that thread doesn't work? I've been directed people to it, but I at least put a disclaimer that I didn't try it :p

It might make you feel better knowing that both Flash 10.1 and Skyfire seem a bit crippled on XDAndrooid. They work, but not nearly as well as Skyfire on WinMo (before they killed it.) I can't watch streaming video from sports games or run most flash apps. So you are not missing out on much.

To be specific, I first installed flash lite 3.1 on in winmo. Then I put the flask 10.1 adk in my andoid apps folds befoer the initial boot. And Flash was installed and working after that initial boot.

I'm surprised that the old Skyfire 1.5 on my Vogue/Winmo was more powerful. But maybe skyfire has scaled back their servers that push the flash content. I used to be able to watch Hulu (albeit jerky) on Skyfier. This does not work in android.

As for Flash 10.1, it seems almost identical in usability as flash lirte 3.1 on win mo. So it plays videos on sites like youtube, but not as sharp or fluidly as using the youtube app. But maybe its a better solution on a higher spec'ed phone. Since I notice some apps like Flash TV that don't seem to work at all on my phone...

Basically, you are not missing much by losing out on flash 10.1.

Did you try WinMo with Mighty Rom or Energy ROM? It's not Android, but nothing like the stock WinMo either!

Sometimes a longer press/hold will wake mine up when it does that... I've never resorted to a reset/reboot for that.

Oh and +1 for NRG roms!

Hey folks. So what is the status on the remaining features missing from FRX03?

  • BT - I've heard that it works somewhat, but not sure how much - can I pair my phone with my car's bluetooth yet?
  • Camera - anyone working on this at all?
  • Headphones - I believe you can force the speaker to come out of the headphone jack, but is there a way to have it automatically detect that you plugged in headphones so I can listen to Slacker Radio?
  • Speakerphone (no mic) - any progress?
  • Battery Meter (about 75% fixed now) - what's not working with the battery meter
  • HW3D - will I ever be able to play Angry Birds (full version)
  • EDIT - my phone will also not vibrate when a call comes in (when set to vibrate)
  • Is there anything else that is not working yet?
Can someone update the first post to show status updates?

Fyi.. even if we get 30fps working using hw3d.. angrybirds still might not work. Rovio stated they are having performance issues with older hardware. Nothing we can do if the game developers themselves cant do it. There is a hacked version of the game that performs better.

Unfortunately that is the best method to see progress... With that said, answering every item in your list is a little ridiculous. You want others to read the logs and update you? There's really only one I know I can definitively answer...

It's fixed, just need the commit from WisTilt2. Holidays have been rough.

As for the rest of the stuff you asked for updates on, it is ALL being worked on but it's sporadic. Camera seems to be making some good progress, and the headphone jack seems trivial... Just need someone to take a good look at it. Battery code probably needs to be cleaned up, and there's probably some other power management improvements that will help with drain. We need to get camro a device so he can finish his battery driver :p

I'm really curious what they did to AB Lite then, because it sure runs faster than AB Full.

Google it.. Rovio is still making changes to make sure they can cover more phones.. turns out phones far more powerful than the tp2 couldnt run it.

ive been talking to alex and bzo about the camera. It's apparently working with code written by jbruneaux. No one really bothered to look into it but im sure bzo is already pillaging code to get it on our kernel.

Trivial? Come on arrrghhh I and I think a lot of other people really want that headphone jack working, is there any progress on that or is there anything a noob like myself can do to help its progress?

In any case, I really appreciate everyone's hard work on making android fully functional on tp2.

USE THIS. YOU NEED TITANIUM BACKUP TO USE IT. IT WORKS REALLY GOOD. I WATCH MOVIES ONLINE ALL THE TIMES. I DON'T GET 3G IN COUNTY AND IT VERY FAST. RESTORE THE FILE WITH THE DATA OR IT WON'T WORK. GOOD LUCK. FRX03

what he means by trivial is that none of the main devs plan on spending time looking into it since it only applies to a small subset of devices. That being said, I had been looking into it, but I have been absolutely swamped the last few weeks. Holidays are when IT implement all the new server tech and all that because it is the lowest impact time of the year.

+1, we're knee-deep in a new call center integration project...

Hopefully it's an easy fix, but easy is a relative term here. What's easy for the devs isn't so easy for a lot of us. I don't expect a self-proclaimed "noob" to go in and even try to fix it.

Correct. You can have them always on if they are on when you boot haret. Otherwise they're always off. Yet another thing on WisTilt2's list.... Hopefully when he gets back into the swing of things we can finish up his work on the speakerphone stuff and go back to focusing on the lighting. He seemed worried that it would be significantly different for each individual RHOD, and based on how the autobl commit went... His worries definitely seem justified ;)

Which is why I believe we need to move away from froyo.user.conf for keyboard layout and other variant command lines. We have machine_variant working on NAND, and I think Wozzer's code for that needs to get committed to the main tree. This would allow them to target specific variants in the code in a much simpler way.

I haven't followed the IRC logs in a while, but I was curious if cell tower triangulation is being worked on at all, even sporadically?

Also, any movement to integrate the new 3D driver/gralloc/build.prop into XDAndoird? They've worked really great for me.

Cell tower triangulation works great on GSM... I haven't had anybody willing to troubleshoot the issue with me. CDMA isn't so liked among most of the devs. It's kind of a bastard child.

I haven't noticed a difference whatsoever with the new driver, so I doubt it. I know ACL is taking a good hard look at it and fiddling with some settings related to it... so if he figures out the right combo and it does have an effect, then I'd imagine it would make it in. We'll just have to see what happens with it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's already put this into his NAND git tree...

There's an absolute difference when using the driver. I havent seen added results from gralloc & build.prop... but I'm not sure I mounted them properly in the first place. The 3d driver is the real deal though.

Definitely the real deal. Attempt to run Angry Birds Lite, observe it does not run. Install the new build.prop, observe that Angry Birds Lite runs.

Also, run OpenTyrian, with detail set to low and sound and music disabled. Observes it is as if the game is running through molasses. Install the 3D driver and gralloc, observe that a logo now displays when you start the game, and the game runs at normal speeds.

Spoke to stinedb about incorporating the gralloc and lib into xdandroid. Unfortunately it does not work for vga devices (raphael and diam) so im not sure if this will make it in unless those devices are fixed first.

If you're desperate for BLAZN, try this. We're having a really simple but maddening issue with changing a color and the whole system becoming unstable or even unbootable... Shame on you for asking about NAND progress in here, there's a freakin sticky thread on the topic...

A dev willing to troubleshoot. I have no clue where the issue is occurring, and I haven't been able to get anyone to work with me... because CDMA is the bastard child, and none of 'em really seem to like working with it. Most likely because they don't know how it works as well as they do GSM, so I can't really blame them.

I don't play games, but my Neocore scores went down...? I don't get that, if 3d performance is better, why are my Neocore scores worse?

InvincibleLiving 12-03-2010 01:14 PM

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/221] FRX03 Reference!

all of my benchmarks went up: neocore is now 19.x w/sound and 21.x without sound. prior to that I could never get past 16-17

quadrant is up, fps2d is up. like I said I only showed noticable results with the 3d driver alone, when I threw in build.prop and gralloc I saw no further performance increase. I hedge that by saying I'm fairly certain I didnt mount the commands properly or something...

I'm certain ACL wouldnt even mess with it if there were no evidence of performance boosts, and even he seems pretty excited by the possibility it holds.

I agree with that last statement, but I was getting 18-19 without the fix, and it went down to 16-17 with the fix. I need to try the new gralloc fix tho, haven't given that one a whirl. Just the .so swap.

I agree with that last statement, but I was getting 18-19 without the fix, and it went down to 16-17 with the fix. I need to try the new gralloc fix tho, haven't given that one a whirl. Just the .so swap.

Yeah i know some people are having good performance with the 11/26 version which is close to the original but the reason i got involved is not really because of performance. But because memory allocation on the old driver is incorrect. Since its incorrect we cant allocate 2 buffers for proper page flipping. Without it you can get garble and some tears

Also thumb rule is that gralloc must match the lib and this is why they are deployed in pairs. Officially if this does get applied to xdandroid, they will go in pairs.
