The mic *should* be working on the new kernel. It seems some devices may still be left in the cold, I'm not sure why tho. Are you having the incoming call issue where no one can hear you...? Calling voicemail in WinMo first while the phone boots should fix this.

There's a couple of other mic issues out there that I know of. The mic doesn't work on apps, and the mic doesn't work on the speakerphone. I believe the calling voicemail first trick fixes all of those issues - although I don't think I've tested the in-call mic w/speakerphone after calling vm first.

What Im talking about is Using Pandora and using an audio cable to connect it to the auxillary input in my car and listening to pandora through my car. If thats the mic then yes thats what Im talking about.

When I tried Updating Android it tells me server not available. So it looks like I have to download it again from the OP before I do can you confirm that we are talking about the same thing.

Thanks

I believe the work-around you're looking for is to plug in your adapter to the headphone jack and boot into android. If I remember, this was a work around previously but it will break your speaker working on the phone itself for a phone call, until you reboot to WM and then reboot normally into android without the speaker jack plugged in. Haven't tried this with any of the latest kernels though to see if it still works.

That would be the headphone jack :p

I know that Reefer is still doing the updates. When i started using android Reefer was 'managing' this thread, answering question as well. And lately I have seen arrghh taking in terms of help and asnwering question etc... I was just curious as I had not seen reefer around in a while. i am very grateful that reefer is still doing the updates and i love his work and will continue to use it.

Thanks for the clarification. I think that your previous post was just written in an way that seemed to be a bit negative on Reefer... judging from the way people reacted. Maybe it was late, but thanks for clearing it up.

Does anyone know why pressing the top power button puts the phone to sleep?(the same as the end key)

It used to bring you back to the home screen which was much better. Thanks.

Here we go again...

Go to spare parts & change the end key behavior to be HOME. Problem solved. You should probably read what's in the update, before you update.

This is the link to the thread that solved it for me:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/tp2-androi...t-working.html

I believe I had to use a combination of three things but now it works every time unless I format my SD card or delete the data image that stores your Android settings. I think one of the suggestions was run quickgps inside windows mobile before you boot into Android. Following are the two steps I do that work for me.

First click the hard windows button on the tp2 (second from the left). Then click the soft buttons 'settings' -> 'Applications' -> 'Manage Applications' -> 'Fancy Widget' -> 'Uninstall' -> 'ok' to uninstall.

After you have uninstalled the application you will need to reinstall in via your OI file manager than comes with the Blazin build by reefer or you can download OI file manager via marketplace if you are using the Reference build. For me on blazin I press the soft square looking applications button (with 16 smaller gray squares that make the bigger square; sorry don't know what this button is called yet), the I select 'OI file manager' -> 'andboot' -> 'AndroidAps'-> 'FancyWidget v1.3.0 apk' -> and then install it.

Once Fancy Widget is reinstalled then click the applications button again (with the 16 smaller gray squares) and the click 'FancyWidget' -> 'Set Location' -> and then type in your city here. Also in this same menu I turn off 'Use GPS location' and 'Use my location'. I think they said in the other thread the GPS or my location was currently freezing Fancy Widget.

Good luck.

I've been having the same issues, I went back to the 10/11 kernel and zimage and still having them occasionally. I'm wondering if the updated rootfs file may be causing it too, although the older kernel and zimage did stabilize it a bit more.

Bad idea with the key change. I like having a "Home" and a "Sleep" function.
We went from a system with keys that mostly functioned to now I have a button that does nothing. I greatly appreciate all the work but I got to give my 2cents on this and I cant see anything good in this change.

"Spare Parts" is not a fix.

The power button does not seem to work for me at all either (rhod100_uk) using the latest Blazin' version and the latest kernel. I have set my end key to do home, then sleep.
The power button does not sleep or wake-up my device at all, but I heard it did work for some other people. Maybe there is a difference between rhod versions, or maybe it has to do with Blazin' or an app overruling the button?

How can I test whats the problem? Are there any logfiles I could check?

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!

I have one problem. Everytime I try to use data(internet/maps/etc) my phone will reboot. Anyone have a solution to this?

Using "CAB - Android v2.2 Froyo: BLAZN"
I have used the SD Formatter program to format the micro SD card.
Using Energy's Oct 20th Cookie 21916 rom(have also tried Task29 and reinstalled the rom)
I have run the updater to get the latest update.

Could it be a overclocking issue? Android is useless for me if data does not work or if I try to use it and it reboots on me. Tried the Angry Birds game and the games lags too much to be playable for me. Yeah, the white background screen is there.

Update. The new rootfs/kernels should fix this issue.

Sure it is. You get the home button back... Sure long press doesn't work like it used to, but I think that would require changes to the base system which is highly undesirable.

Keep your versions back if it's that big of a deal to you.

There's a rootfs dated 22-10 - do you have it? For the kernel that appears to be the newest. Why can't you just check the autobuild site...?

Mr. Medic is close. Here's the full trick, it's pretty cumbersome - you have to add snd.force_headset=X, where X is - 1=USB headset, 2=3.5mm headset.

Now you also must plug in the headphones while in WinMo, and I believe you also have to make a call so the headphones are being used, while booting Android. I don't think I tested it both ways, I always just did the test call first.

Be warned, this will break ALL other audio. So only audio going thru the headphones will work, regardless of whether or not you have something plugged into them ;) As if that wasn't a bad enough downside, I noticed some very odd noises coming from the speaker (not loud) when I was playing music thru the headphones. So it's not ideal by any means, but it does work. I'm working with the devs to get 3.5mm up (it works for the Blackstone) but there's other more pressing matters ATM unfortunately. Too much to do!

I tried this using the usb headset and it worked perfectly. Also, once I removed the headset I was getting all audio normally. The phone rang thru the external speaker and when I answered the call the audio came thru the internal speaker. For the hell of it I plugged in the ext usb adapter that came with the touch pro to try the 3.5 jack and it worked perfectly too.

So you made the changes as arrggghhhh noted in the startup.txt and used it manually (along with the other changes he noted)? I'm thinking I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend, that would be great if it works like that!

Yes. Added the line to startup, plugged in the usb headphones, made the call to vm and then ran haret. I don't know if it matters but I'm using the Blazn from 9/29.

Blame the Android base for making the end key sleep...

Our phones weren't meant to run Android, so things are going to be wonky. Suck it up, or stick to WinMo - not trying to be a ****, just real.

Do you have a dead button? No. Sleep function? It's the power button. Of course it's lame not to update, you're the one whining about something not working how you think it should work. This is how the devs feel it should work. Don't like it, keep your phone back. I'm just giving you an option to your stubbornness, take it or leave it.

That answer would totally make sense if they didn't already have it working in a way where we have a home button we can hold down and a sleep button.

I must have missed something, what was the impetus for this change?

And please, don't think I don't appreciate what they've done, for free, to get Android going on our phones. I'm not demanding any changes, merely voicing my concern for a change that appears to be taking a step back rather than forward. If it gets changed back great, if it doesn't, I'm not asking for anyone's scalp!

I don't get it, I just tried and I get the same behavior - I'm not using extUSB, I'm using the 3.5mm jack.

I get the same behavior - all audio breaks except for the jack. What exactly are you doing to get it to work...? Anything special?

That answer would totally make sense if they didn't already have it working in a way where we have a home button we can hold down and a sleep button.

I must have missed something, what was the impetus for this change?

And please, don't think I don't appreciate what they've done, for free, to get Android going on our phones. I'm not demanding any changes, merely voicing my concern for a change that appears to be taking a step back rather than forward. If it gets changed back great, if it doesn't, I'm not asking for anyone's scalp!

Unfortunately I think they should've made power=power from the beginning... I think someone finally decided to take it upon themselves to fix that silliness. Since we were used to power=home, a bunch of people freak out. C'est la vie.

So is there any way to get the top button to function as home? That way we can hold it down and access the recent programs list.

I am using the usb headphones that came with touch pro when I run haret not the 3.5mm jack. Once android boots up I can use the 3.5mm jack that is on the ext usb.

+1 for not getting the 3.5mm working
here is what i did
1) changed the startup file with snd.force_headset=2
2) while on wm dialed voicemail with 3.5mm headphne jack connected
3)while on vm use haret to boot to android

the sound on headphones works perfect but once the headphone is taken out i get no sound from the phones speaker....same behavior that we had before.

Uhm... Ok. When you unplug the extUSB crap does the audio transfer back to the speaker...?

Seriously?!? Dude... at least read what's going on before posting. Either a) you hack up the rootfs or b) keep your phone back - don't update. I even mentioned this on this page!!

Yes. Are you using usb headphones when you boot into android or are you using headphones plugged into the 3.5mm jack on the extUSB?
