Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!

I spoke to soon, back to the "No Service" again. It's booting up in Airplane mode and when I try to toggle it off it attempts it then reverts back. Tried booting using Haret.exe from the sd card and the Project Android icon. What should I be choosing in device selection? I tried Rhod500 and Tilt2 with the same results. Thanks, Tommy.

You should be choosing Rhod400 if it's a Sprint TP2 but I believe that choosing that is only related to the keyboard layout. Are you clicking on the cdma box in advanced settings? You need that to have internet connection IIRC. Or if you're using a manual startup.txt you need to change a 0 to a 1 after cdma. Boot back to WM, make sure you're checking off the appropriate boxes in advanced and let it boot again to android and let us know what happens.

Tommy,

In addition to what fish recommended, copy the atached file to your sd card

ProX, isn't that needed only if not using the advanced settings from the startup app (like clicking the box for manual startup)?

Force CDMA is selected. Where would I find IIRC? CDMA=1 was already there by default.

Copied over the startup file.
Still no service and stuck in airplane mode.
If I reinstall project android everything works the 1st few times of booting into android then once it boots with airplane mode it stays there until i reinstall.

IIRC means if I remember correctly, lol, sorry about that. If CDMA is already set to 1 and you copied over the startup text and the "1" stays there when you boot, I'm at a loss. Wait for some of the big guns to show up and maybe they'll have a better idea. I'm on Sprint just like you and as long as CDMA is set to 1 or I'm using the startup app and I've clicked the box for cdma, I haven't had an issue. Stupid question, but is your SIM card still installed? I removed mine because I never needed it and I remember something being posted/said about removing the SIM card. Just wondering if maybe that's it.

Maybe try removing the SIM card, unless you need it for overseas, it may be the cause, but then again, might not be. I've been tinkering around with the OC due to not waking from sleep sometimes, but I found that max Oc has been most stable for me for some reason. And I can't see why that would impact your service, but I'm also not a developer, lol. Good luck!

Turned Overclock back on and no service again, turned it back off and i have service again. I'll leave it off for awhile and see if it really was is causing it. If so I'll try it with the lowest clock spped 1st until I find a happy place for it.
SIM still in....for now.

Take out your sim card...I had the exact problem until i took out my sim. I know there is a way to boot w/ ur sim card in but I cant remember where it was posted on here.

But like stated unless you need ur sim for overseas travel then take it out and it should boot right the first time.

Android can only use one radio or the other, so you have to chose between GSM or CDMA. I don't have a SIM card to test with, but I've heard that you do have to remove the SIM card if you want to use the CDMA service. Do you use both simultaneously in WinMo...?

Get droid to work with the sim card.
I can't take credit for this but it worked.
1. Make sure droid is up and running and working fine.
2. Shut down, remove SD card, insert sim card, restart.
3. After complete boot, got to settings>personal>phone and set to cdma only.
4. shut down again, insert sd card and reboot.

does this still not work with the indaGROOVE roms? i've tried everything to boot into android running this rom, i deleted all the folders (andboot and program files) from my sd card, extracted the latest 10/13 rar onto card and still haret just freezes after the progress bar fills about 85%, i've tried launching haret itself and also the boot utility in program files....:(

ROM shouldn't affect (effect?) Android whatsoever. Try formatting your SD and start with a fresh, clean build. Make sure you have the correct startup.txt for your phone as well.

If you're on Sprint, you should select Rhod400 in the Startup utility. Also remove the SIM card from your phone, if you haven't already. In my experience, I could sometimes boot with cell service when the SIM was installed, but the phone would eventually go to "No Service" and stay that way. Since removing the SIM, I've had no problems getting & keeping cell service. Good luck

Maybe with the upcoming global Android devices from VZW, there will be info that can help the devs get our phones to be true global phones in android as well. Based on a recent pic I saw, they have a few global smartphones with Android being released this quarter.

thats about the last thing left i can do is format my sd card :(....gotta back up my 8gigs later tonight then

what startup.txt should i use? i've tried the startup app and selected rhod400 because i do have sprint, i've also tried every combination on the overclocks all levels and off....i was wondering if it was having issues with the indaGROOVE rom cuz this rom uses a very new 4.x us cell base, i havent seen a tp2 winmo move so fast

Here's the startup I use with Sprint. And the ROM shouldn't make a difference since you're not running WM, everything's running off the sd card so it really shouldn't matter. Try formatting the sd card, if you search back a few pages I believe there's a "recommended" app to format the sd card, although I've used that and my pc, didn't make a difference that I can find. But reformatting the card did make it run a little smoother with less lock ups, etc. Maybe try reformatting, reload up the cab or rar files, use the latest startup app from sovereign and see if it works. If it does, it should create a startup.txt to use. If you need it, just change the default.txt to startup.txt

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!

So lately my Android has been randomly booting on me. I decided to start with a fresh build, so I did a Quick Format on my SD card and loaded a fresh BLAZN build on there. But when Android loaded up, I couldn't select ringtones, only "Silent" was an option. And several apps wouldn't run (such as the music player) saying that I need an SD card to use that program. I fought with it for a long time, trying full formats, the stock Android build, and so forth, and could NOT get it working right again. Finally I tried the official SD Formatter tool I found in the FAQ post, and I can select ringtones again.

...however the reboots have come back.

Are the reboots a problem with the current Android kernels, or do you think my SD card is going bad? Or do you think a re-flash of my Windows ROM would help with anything? I know some things in Windows can indirectly affect the Android boot.

Any advice is appreciated. It was working perfect for a long time, but doesn't work good anymore..

Just curious

Does anyone know how to access the phone or sdcard while in android. Like we can through active sync and Disk drive when we plug in with a usbcable?

Thanks

Can't. Android needs the card to be mounted - as that is where the OS is running off of. USB works for debugging in the newest kernel, but that's about it. You can access the card within Android, since it is mounted...

At first I was just going to say format with the HP tool but it looks like you've already done that & solved your issue with the ringtones. The reboots... do they happen when you do anything in particular? I get random reboots every now and then, usually when I try to use the phone as a phone (of course...)

You may try a different SD card, I'd be curious if that is the cause. Doubtful. Do you install a lot of apps? There's a lot of apps that don't work for one reason or another & can/will cause instability.

With that said, the newest commits need some patches... there were some regressions, and we're still tryin to dig thru exactly what broke ;)

It does seem to happen after certain "events". Having lots of apps installed as it will happen after a completely fresh install (SD format, load BLAZN, perform update, boot). I've noticed it will crash back into Windows sometimes when pulling down the top notification pane. Sometimes when I select a text message it will hang for a second and then crash. But then, sometimes it works fine too. It is always when I'm actually doing something on the phone (pressing the screen). Which makes me wonder if the SD card is involved because maybe its trying to load something, fails, and bails out?

Not sure what you are talking about. Reefer is still here and providing updates. He is just really busy and I'm sure he can't handle all the questions that are being asked. And I don't think we want him too. We want him to focus on the updates. Others like arrghh have been extremely helpful but your comment about him managing this thread now is a bit off base.

Reefer doesn't need to show his face around, that's what his FAQ's are for, along with peeps like Arrrghhh and others to help answer questions. I personally would rather him spend his time developing rather than answer the same questions over and over as you can tell by reading the thread, many people don't bother searching or even reading the great FAQ's that would prob answer most of the questions.

You should be a VIP based on your assistance in this thread, but you're not even half way there based on Rep, it's based on post count. You clearly deserve a lot more thanks than you're getting around here... peeps need to show some thanks (you don't ask for thanks or donations, but deserve them!

Does anyone know how to get the microphone jack to work?

Microphone jack... as in just the mic, or do you mean with a wired headset...?

The mic *should* be working on the new kernel. It seems some devices may still be left in the cold, I'm not sure why tho. Are you having the incoming call issue where no one can hear you...? Calling voicemail in WinMo first while the phone boots should fix this.

There's a couple of other mic issues out there that I know of. The mic doesn't work on apps, and the mic doesn't work on the speakerphone. I believe the calling voicemail first trick fixes all of those issues - although I don't think I've tested the in-call mic w/speakerphone after calling vm first.
