Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Just out of curiosity, am I supposed to have really horrible battery life? I can usually get about 6-8 hours of battery life, then the phone dies. Normally, I can go about 1.5 days via WinMo. What's normal for the android port?

Yeah I can vouch batt life has ticked up recently... arrrrrrghhh is right, for us long time users we're happy with any and all improvement in this area.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Should we expect the battery live to be not as good as windows mobile since we are running android from the sd card? Reading information from the sd card uses up more power am I correct? How do you expect it to be the same as windows mobile running from the phone's internal memory?

Yes, I dont think it will ever be the same or better than winmo running off the sd card. It might get real close but never the same |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
I agree with battery improvement, speed improvement, more stable. It works very good. I still have the "can't hear when I dial out" problem sometimes. But that's about it.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
I've been asked to point someone that has a HTC Touch in the right direction. Can it be Androided?
What is the general nickname for a Touch? (ie Rhod400 for a TP2 cdma) Is it the Vogue? Does this this Mod apply to the Touch also? |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Haha, I love how the boot text says "Welcome to Vouge Linux" =P I remember back in the day when I was getting the early builds of android working on my Vouge xD
</offtopic> EDIT: Actually, this is kinda on topic, to the person above me, if it is the CDMA Touch, then yes, there is Android for the Vouge. They have Full Featured ROMs and it is fully working. I have my Vouge running android as my backup phone =D |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Thanks for your response regarding battery life! I think it's pretty amazing that I have Android running on this phone as it is!
Also, are the lights on the buttons supposed to stay lit? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't (if it's on, I usually boot back into Windows and then into Android again.) |

I'm not OC in WM, using the most recent startup app, OC'ing medium in android, and with latest couple of updates I occasionally get the sleep of death? any ideas? Doing nothing different, just wont wake up.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
unistalled the anroid project cab and reinstalled it, when to boot and it just stayes at the linux boot screen with the scrolling text what seems to be forever...I just give up and go back to windows for the time being, but dont understand why with my older TP it did not take that much time to boot into android, but with my TP2, it just hangs and hangs...it does not freeze, but the scrolling just does not seem to stop and I cant make out what its saying.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
My rhod500 (verizon - running on gsm network) just hangs during the android boot (I've triple checked that I am not overclocking in windows).
It stops as soon as it says: 1.720001 misc_register(): OK Only solution is to reboot the device I've also trying formatting my sd card and doing a fresh install Any help? |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
This project has come so far and cant get enough of it. However, I'm still getting the in call issue that others have reported. I'm on the 10/10 update and have seen it for the last few updates after they enabled the adjustment of in call volume. I'll either hear the caller and they cant hear me, or when I try to adjust the volume of the call, the phone will lock up and android will reboot, but the call will stay active through most of the reload of android. This all seems to be random and not on every call, but I can reproduce the issue most of the time by calling into voice mail and change the volume up and down a bunch. Sprint RHOD 400
Thanks again to all the work on this! It's has been fun to watch it grow. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
I feel like I have been searching for a while with no luck so I am going to ask. My GPS is not working. I don't even know what to start with so I am hoping that someone would be willing to help me figure this out.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Hey guys. I have been keeping up with this thread for a while now.
I think i have a dumb question however with this newest release. I saw the newest release and read about 25 page after it was released. i saw that Reed was saying to use the update tool. So I did, not when i boot it goes through like normal and when It gets done it set up for about 5 seconds and then reboots. I thought i noticed that i saw people having the same problem but i havent been able to find out ther solution. Also i usually DL from Reefer's site and tyhe version that he has up is the 9/28. is the only way to get the newest from the update app? |

I have been using the newest 10/10 update and am seeing that everytime I try to download something from the marketplace it never fully processes. I know with the new update tool it fixed alot of glithces from previous updates but am not sure what I am doing wrong? I have tried rebooting back into Android after a soft reset with still no luck

@arrrghh - I deleted the data.img and went back into the marketplace and tried downloading another application and got the following error message "The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectledly. Please try again." I continue to try again with no success.

I'm not sure what you mean TBH, they're always pumping out new code... A new package as in what reef builds? Like blazn, reference, etc? He usually puts one of those out once a month. zImage (kernel) updates seem to be daily, sometimes 2-3x per day. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
thx arrghh and ya i was talking about reefs builds but I understand that patients is a virtue. Thx for all your guys hard work i really appreciate. If you devs need a tester for anything you can come to me i will do anything to help the progress of android on our phones.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Use the new startup program and it includes an update feature. There have been new kernal release just not on the sit only through the update utility

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [10/04] BATT UPDATES!
Sorry guys another 2 dumb questions. I HR reset my phone and for the life of me can't figure out how to get the boot utility to show back up under my program slist so that I do not have to go into the andboot folder everytime.
Also do i still need to change the cdma value for sprint from 1 to zero? TIA!!!!! |
