Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
My data isn't working either on the new build, everything else seems flawless. I've tried deleting the data file and having it recreated, then deleting all the directories and uninstalling, then reinstalling and still no data. :(

Out of curiosity, does anyone have data working in the new build? The only other problem I've really had is that for whatever reason, the cab instantly fails on the Sense build for me. Didn't try the rar yet. So yeah, other than the data, everything is working as well as I would expect. A big thanks to everyone who has put in work on this to get it up and going. Edit: Whoops, meant to post this in the CDMA thread. |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
Hey all. longtime lurker, first time poster. Saw this and thought i could help
I believe you need to set up a mock APN under connections (i believe thats what it is, i dont have my phone on me) named whatever and connecting to internet.com. Make sure you save it and that should do the trick. It worked for me on the newest build. I learned the trick when i was playing around with sense 2.1 some time ago. Hope it helps! |

Setting up an apn worked for me. To do so, goto 'Wireless & Networks' -> 'Mobile Networks' -> 'Access Point Names' -> Press the 'Android Key' -> Name="aaa", Server="internet.com". Hit back, and enable it. It seemed to fix it right away. Thanks jtown for the tip! |

What is the difference between the launchpro build and the other two?
|
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
If you use the sense .rar package, the initrd file is missing its file extension. Rename it to initrd.gz or else haret.exe won't recognize it.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
Is there anything that can be done about my phone freezing up after starting Android? I've had like one successful install where it didn't lock up every time I dimmed the screen. I can get it started and do anything but as soon as I press the hang up button (to dim the screen) and press it again to turn it back on nothing happens. Sometimes my notification light turns green, others red (orange), and sometimes nothing at all...
thanks in advance for any help and thanks for all of the hard work done on this project. |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
I am using AOSP version and want to switch to the new version with launcher pro. Should I just download the latest installer and install (cover older files), or delete some files on the storage card and do a clean install?
Thanks. |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
Hey Guys, I'm just another thread stalker that never contributes- but I finally signed up, so heres to a start... I've been using android pretty consistently on here for about a week, and I am just entirely impressed by how well you all have this working. Thank you!
I noticed a couple of things in the different ports that I was curious about and I was hoping for some answers, but also hoping my feedback might be somewhat useful for the folks working on this: 1. The first port I loaded was the release BEFORE the June 1st update. I installed the CAB file directly to my memory card, and it seemed to work quite smooth. I was never able to get the GPS to work at all though. Maybe a fluke. Maybe I was doing something wrong? 2. Occasionally I would get the " process not responding" errors for numerous things- It was never a big problem, but it happened for quite a few different things. 3. I tried doing the update through that great looking boot program, however after I did it, my phone would not allow me to use the program anymore. Is there something that needs to be deleted from my card BEFORE doing the update? 4. The issue from 3 led me to wipe my card and try to remove it from my phone to install a different CAB from scratch. I chose 2.1 with Sense. When I would try to install it, it would tell me I still had the Application on my phone. Is there somewhere deep in the phone that I could have been missing some files that I needed to remove? I went through File Explorer and removed everything that I thought could possibly have anything to do with android, but to no avail. Eventually I just told it to install over it, and at the end, it said it was unsuccessful. Well, I ran it anyway. It seemed like it loaded ALIRIGHT, But it was HORRIBLY slow, and HORRIBLY buggy. Is that just how it runs with Sense?? 5. Frustrated with that, I removed that one, and Installed 2.1 with Launcher Pro (the newest update as well). I was able to get around the lack of data connection everyone is talking about by setting up that mock APN (Thank you whoever you are....!!!). It seems VERY smooth. Still getting a couple of " application not responding/force close" errors, but not so frequently as with sense, or even the first one I installed. 6. Phone power cycles everytime I try to open Google Maps with this newest release- Anyone else? Any ideas? 7. Paid apps in the marketplace- I know somewhere this came up- Could someone send me a link to that thread? Alright. Anything anyone of you can offer me would kick a**. Thanks again to everyone working on this. You guys rock.=D> Sorry if I sound like a nag, hopefully it doesnt come across that way, I just figured I'd let you know what I've found in my hours of screwing around with loading it up. Thanks again. -Steve |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
is usb charging working for people in the newest 6/16 ASOP release? I cant get it to charge, the orange LED shows up so i thought it was charging, but then it just shut off randomly. also
when typing a new text message- when going to messages, new then in the "to" field, can we not type in names..? I tried typing in a friends name and it kept reading it as numbers. for example. Sahil was 65656 ( random numbers) but for some people it showed up right away any one else have this? |

The Sense build of this is SOOO much more buggy than the AOSP version. It would constantly crash on me.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
ive looked all over the FAQ and what not and cant understand whats going on. I had the android working good off the sd card for about 2 days and it crashed and everytime i try to run it, i get to the Haret Version pre-0.5.3 window where i have to select a script file. when i click run it says, cannot open script file StorageCard\andboot\default.txt. id hate to reinstall android because I downloaded a lot of cool things and modified it. how can i fix this. my email is vivalajustin@gmail.com if you have any idea how to fix it please send me an email or reply to this post. thanks, Justin.

Is there a way to make the ear piece volume louder on the TP2? I am running this build and love it, just my ear piece sounds to quiet when on the phone driving. I search postings and have all the volume full blast.... Any thoughts/help appreciated.

I like the new prolauncher version.. However, the update function crashes...says that it finished ok..but it doesn.t.. then android wont boot..
guess I keep waiting for the major updates... keep up the good work.. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
Guys, I just wanted to pass on some love for the developers who put this latest build together. I'm running the Prolauncher version and it's amazing how much happier I am with my phone. You guys really need to keep it up, your efforts are very appreciated! I eagerly await the next builds to see what else comes out!
I get a few error messages when I boot up, but nothing that stops functionality if I just wait for it to finish. Some apps don't seem to like the build (trapster for example) but the important ones work just fine. |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
i hope i'm not asking anything that's already been answered.
I downloaded rar file w/sense. I unzipped it so that ANDBOOT is in the root of my sd card. When i run haret, it just says it failed to load file \storage card\ANDBOOT\initrd.gz Did i miss a step somewhere? |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/16] BUILDS REFRESHED!
think i might have just fixed it by editing the startup file - removed .gz from the initrd filename. Seems to be working now once i did that.
2 quick questions though - is there a way to turn off the phone other then pulling the battery? I know there's a program i can dump in the windows startup folder dealing with the backlight - will that fix the backlight being on all the time even when the screen is basically 'off' ? thanks p.s. big thanks to all the people who worked on this and made this possible. You guy rock! |

Hold the red end button until a menu pops up. Then select turn off phone. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [6/23] EXT2 BUILD ADDED!
Ok, maybe it's not fixed. I cant make or receive calls. I switched the phone to cdma only in windows and i also pulled the SIM card. I think the phone is trying to connect to the network but failing, because if i try to call my cell phone from a landline, i immediately, without a single ring, get a recorded message telling me that my call could not be completed and that my phone must be listed as a mobile phone on my list of forwarding phones.
Anyone know whats wrong? edit: fixed it - just posting this in case it helps someone else. I went into windows and switched it to CDMA only mode. I also removed the SIM card. Neither one helped. I had to edit the startup file in the andboot folder and add force_cdma=1 and then it was able to send/receive calls as well as connect to the net. |
