Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.1-update1; en-us; AOSP on XDANDROID MSM Build/ECLAIR) AppleWebKit/530.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/530.17)

Usually I start the maps app and it will sit there with a blank screen and no location dot. Then I start the wifiii and bingo, there I am. This is funny, just tried the maps app and got a fast lock without the wifi on. Maybe because android has been running all day.

No 3G here either after the update. Is it just Sprint users that are missing data after the new build?

Wait - i thought it could already write to the file system - how else is it downloading and saving market place apps and installing them if it's not writing to the file system?

I got it up and running 2 days ago... granted that was my very first day putting any type of Android build on my device.

After doing the APN trick, internet functioned for me but I still couldnt sync my contacts or access martketplace.

Then I tried the Network Search >Back out > Network Search again and BOOM everything is fine now: Data, marketplace, internet, gps.

You'll feel stupid for a while, but you'll eventually get it if you keep tinkering lol.

Question: how many Andro files REALLY need to remain at the Root level of SD Card? Is there any kind of cleanup I can safely do with some of these files/folders Andro is creating? My card looks mad unsexy right now lol. Plus it gets cumbersome when I need to browse to my WinMo folders like XDA_UC

I have been testing an Alpha of Froyo 2.2, its very far from usable, but it boots, and you can play around and see the new goodies. :) They are working on fixing a lot of things that are still wrong with it, but just wanted to let you guys know there is a build out there that we may be able to use in the near future! :)

thanks in advance for any help and thanks for all of the hard work done on this project.

Hi guys!

I have the same problem, my screen freezes every time it dims. I've already tried deleting my data.img file, reformatting my SD card but I still have the same problem. And it's not new for me, I've had it with previous builds too! And no, my CPU is not overclocked.

I'm gonna try to get my hands on a new SD card, just to rule out the one I'm currently using.

Any thoughts out there?

Seems to be something with the new APN list, but Im not completely sure. They will work on it tho. :) Even GSM is a bit buggy it will do things like leave out some of the APN settings.

Yup, they took it out of the official build, but its something i have been meaning to add back in myself. In the mean time, here is a .rar with the needed files. Just extract the content and add them into /storagecard/andboot/androidapps and then boot back into android.

Maybe we should focus more on Sound and Camera actually being available first, hrm? :?:

If you know how to fix it, then do it. Its considerably easier to port a new file system than it is to decompile windows drivers and read them to see what they do. If you can read code, reverse engineer, or hardware debug then I will point you in the direction to help, otherwise comments like these are unnecessary.

I got CDMA data working by first doing the APN trick (search this thread) then having the device begin scanning for the network until it times out, hitting the back button, then scanning again. Once you scan the second time it should pick up the signal within 5 seconds or so and then you're good to go. Again, all this info is found in the last 2-3 pages prior to this post.

+1 Reef! I for one will take all the breakthrus as they come since that's about all I can do. Thanks for your time and effort in driving this process on the CDMA side! :king:

I found that post and it is also on the Wiki on the main project andriod site but it didnt help me. I am verizon so im not sure if it makes a difference. I may just blow away the build, start over and see what kinda trouble i can cause from scratch. Ill keep you posted if it works for my verizon phone.

Keep at it, I've seen posts of other VZ users having success.

I took me the better part of the first day to figure it out even though it was simple once I saw what I was doing wrong. The best part is that you only have to do it right that one time and then the settings persist for each boot after that (so far in my case)

Trying to help a fellow virginian:laughing6:

Depends on what you want, its not gonna update the system file for you (yet). So if you want a new build, you have to reinstall, if you just want your rootfs, zimage, or initrd updated, then you use the tool.

Yeah, my bad. At any rate, hopefully we'll see something in those departments soon, but it functions just fine the way it is. So, I got my data working on Verizon by taking out my SIM card, Starting Wifi, and using the APN trick. You also need to go into the Network Search menu and hit Search Automatically. After that I just hit Force CDMA in the loader and it works every time :D

Perfectly stated. That's precisely the steps I took as well, maybe we should opt to post that info after every other post so that folks wont miss it? (cause you KNOW they're gonna ask without reading lol)

Any thoughts out there?

Ok, I fired up android in GSM mode (no SIM card installed) and my screen works fine. I can lock it and unlock it without a problem.

Once I boot in CDMA it goes haywire! Every time the screen locks (dims) it freezes!

Any thoughts out there on why it works in GSM and not in CDMA?

I can't get facebook to sync contacts, even adding it to the accounts page does nothing. (When added, nothing happens, no error either). Using the latest ext android version, and Facebook for Android from the market. Is there another Facebook version that would work better on my Touch Pro 2?

This may sound strange, but turn the backlight brightness setting from auto to 50% brightness or higher. When mine is set to the lowest brightness setting, I got that lock up, like sleep of death.

Great job guys, I am loving the builds of android, thanks for all the hard work you guys do. Now, before I get bashed to pieces, I looked everywhere here for the answer to this question. I know sound isn't working for the speakerphone or ringtones and you guys are working on it I'm sure, but is there a line I can add to my startup.txt to enable the headphones jack? If not that is fine I was just wondering if was an option or not. Thanks again.
