In order to get the CDMA World phones working (Sprint, Verizon, ect) you NEED to either take your SIM out or in WinMo put the phone on CDMA Only. That can be found in Settings - Personal - Phone - Network tab. |

Thank you very much I have everything working. Do you know of an easy way to import my WM contacts to android?

Re: [CAB] GSM Project Android Port and Startup Utility [03/31/10] NOW SUPPORTS CDMA
Just wanted to let everyone know that charging is working for me and I am on energy rom 6.5 sense ui 2.5 version. The thing is that my battery meter says 8 percent - 23 percent but it still charges. I have left it unplugged for over 4 hours and its fine and then i just plug it in to the wall while in android and it never goes over 23 % in the status bar but it stays charged for over 5 hours.

I can make and receive calls but I am unable to get data. I am on sprint. I have cdma only selected and have remove the sim card. The 3G symbols shows on top but i get the message when trying to sign in to Gmail that i do not have a network connection.
Any suggestions on getting it to work? edit: I can go to the browser and sign into gmail but I cannot sign into market place. It say i do not have a network connection |

WOW great Job it works great and is very nice change from windows!
I have Mightyrom with cookies, and this Android easy to switch and play. |
Re: [CAB] GSM Project Android Port and Startup Utility [03/31/10] NOW SUPPORTS CDMA
I really think this should be considered for a sticky at the top of the page. This is by far the easiest, most efficient way to do Android on the TP2. I am noticing that the thread is slowly creeping down the page and soon might end up on the second page. That would be a shame in my opinion!
Having a built-in updater like this makes it much easier for us to update our Android. |

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Ok guys, I updated the first post, there are no download buttons yet, but the links for the new downloads are directly below the button for the 2.01 .cab.
The difference is the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) has no Sense UI, but is VERY fast, and minimal. This is built by phh using stinedb's new 2.1 kitchen. After booting and using ATK to close all apps, you have about 120MB free RAM!! The Klinux 2.1 does come with the Sense UI, its a huge, fat file. Around 160mb I believe. Once you boot and use ATK to close apps, you will have about 60MB free RAM to work with. Not as much, but you gotta remember you got that fancy, pretty UI running. :) Enjoy guys, the Sense UI .cab is a bit buggy when it comes to data, but wifi works great. I can personally fix my AT&T data connection by following these instructions, but I have had reports this work around does not work for everyone! Quote:

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
I've got a problem. I downloaded the 2.1 with sense cab into my memory card. When i open file explorer and click on the cab from my storage card, it starts up but then says the installation was unsuccessful. Any help?

120MB free RAM without Sense, vs 60MB free RAM with Sense perhaps try to delete your data.img and start over again? The 2.1 builds are both buggy right now & w/ sense its WAY worse. |
Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Been runnin this for the last 2 or 3 days and it's just amazing how much faster android is over WinMo... The few things that I see that's holding it back is sound, battery, GPS and power management... My two biggest concerns would be sound and proper battery reporting. If it had those two things, I would use it regularly. Not being able to know when it's going to take a crap is just not workable. And no sound... is like the dark age... lol I use my sound notifications for everything, even my alarm clock. Oh and USB interfacing would be nice too, especially for internet sharing, but not really necessary. Camera isn't very important to me... it's not a very good camera anyways to be quite honest...
If they fix the above few things... I think it'd be worthy of cooking into a ROM by itself and toss WinMo all together, this way it could be on the internal memory and you could pull the SD card when necessary. |

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
I just put it on my TP2 and I got it to load fine, but after about 1 minute it just resets and goes back to WinMo. :( very frustrating. What am I doing wrong here? (it resets after a minute or less of running android). I keep trying to sign in to my google account and it won't get there before doing a soft-reset.

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
So far on the non senseui one I can't get it to load, it just repeats the error "untracked pid (number) exited" over forever. I'll go back and read and see if I missed something. :(

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Okay, this is very annoying!
When ever I boot into Android w/ SenseUI, there is an error that keeps telling me that android.process.acore has stopped responding! How do I fix this? |
Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
for those stuck in the start up loop. (its a tease when the android robot peaks at you and it just blinks out and restarts the start up animation isnt it?)
after you first boot after it makes the data.img. reset to winmo, delete data.img once again and let it boot haret once more. this time it should get past the start up animation. If data isnt working go to wireless / add apn user verizon or sprint for name, select as default, and for apn use internet.com VZW Touch Pro 2 / Energy Rom / Android Flavor of the week, Sense UI build , 3g working on vzw Its still a bit sluggish, but boy is she pretty with sense ui! |

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
I get both of the common errors mentioned above. Repeated PID errors on boot when using the non-sense package and repeated crashing of android.process after boot when using the sense package. But, I do want to say how much I appreciate everyone working hard on this port...truly amazing stuff.

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Everyone having issues, delete your data.img and try again. The 2.1 builds are very buggy, as you guys see. Also, if youre using the .rar you need to include both folders that are in there on the root of your SD card. Both Anboot folder and cache folder.

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
How long does it take to boot into Android the first time? I installed the no sense UI one and it was still loading for about 20 minutes. It was just a screen with a bunch of numbers after the calibration. Do I need to have a different thing of android already installed or something before I run the cab?

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Can't install Sense UI 2.1 cab. Goes right to unsuccessful.
Are you going to add rar versions for these 2.1 builds?? |
Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
Sense 2.1 cab worked first time starting up. Its slower than non sense but works. Also data worked immediately without having to make any changes. good job guys! sense to me is as good as sound or gps working :)

Re: [CAB] Project Android Port and Startup Utility [04/23/10] 2.1 BUILDS AVAILABLE!
I have possibly found a temporary workaround for those of us getting the PID error on the non-Sense UI build.
Like me, I imagine most of us have downloaded the .cab file. Go ahead and DL and install the .cab file and if you get hung on errors try this: Download the .rar file, expand it, and replace andboot and cache on your SD card with the ones you just expanded. Run Project Android like normal and presto, Android! It worked for me, I hope it helps for others. |
