Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [7/01] FROYO BETA ADDED!

Not working for me (Sprint TP2):
browser - closes before I can do anything
messaging(SMS / MMS) - can view, cannot send / receive
sound - we all know about this one
gallery - takes a while to load
gps - cannot find location
marketplace - will not load

Everything else seems to be running nicely. This Froyo build is incredibly fast!!!!

Google NAV use to work, now can't find GPS, however Google maps works. Uninstalled & re-installed latest maps.

this Froyo build is the best Android build I've used to date. GPS works and locks super fast, the battery indicator works, charging works. i have been using it for 3 days as my primary OS with no real issues besides a little lag every now and then.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [7/01] FROYO BETA ADDED!

Agreed, this build is awesome! It finally puts me over the edge where I'm using Android more than Winmo.

About the GPS functionality...

Google Maps and Google Maps Navigation both work for me, but when on the Google mobile site, location service doesn't seem to work.

Below the Google search box it says "Location unavailable" and clicking Update just flashes "Acquiring location..." for a few seconds, but quickly goes back to "Location unavailable". This is at the same time Google Maps gives me an accurate lock.

Anyone know if this is fixable?

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [7/01] FROYO BETA ADDED!

I got a apk for Visual Voicemail from another site. I installed it and it allows you to record messages and send them, but when you receive one it doesn't go through the VVM app.
Any developer dealing with Xandroid now how to correct this. On the site I got the apk from the device they are using is the HTC Hero and they have to flash the vvm.apk to get it to work.
Anyone???
I know we don't have audio when not on a call, but this may be useful in the future.

This Froyo build is f**king awesome it I could get the phone to ring. I would never back out of android.....I think I'm going to pick up the epic when sprint finally decides to release it.

Thank you all for the great work on the project for Android. I have installed the Froyo on my Verizon HTC Touch Pro 2 which I have with Simple Mobile in the GSM network. Prior to that I was running the previous build where everything worked fine. With the Froyo the I'm not able to get the WI-FI to work. I get the following error message "Unable To Scan for Networks" In addition, it turns off my wifi in the settings. Any ideas? Thank you

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately that's one of the reasons why Froyo is still Beta. :) The next release WiFi will work, and it shouldnt be long.

This release has been the best one yet, the phone feels operable enough for me to use daily.

I have one question -- if anyone uses RunKeeper, has anyone got it to work? I get an error as soon as I hit "start workout". It recognizes the GPS and in Google Maps the GPS is working fine there too. Any ideas?

Reefermattness 07-10-2010 04:00 PM

Just for fun. :)

This might not be for everyone...

It was about 4am last night when I came up with the idea, but I still think its a good one. ;) Remember it is highly overclocked, I first off take no responsibility for any damages (although Ive been running this way for months, with no ill effects). This also means a bit more battery drain since it is only doing sleep-2 instead of sleep-1. I have also added the apk files for Auto Memory Manager (my replacement for Advanced Task Killer) and Clocksync.

Its Froyo 2.2 Beta v1, overclocked to 787Mhz. Glossy Black theme, w/ grey highlights instead of orange, and white progress bars. Themed and overclocked for your pleasure. Blazin fast.

Ooo... this looks awesome! one question: can we edit the startup file to back the overclock down so we don't drain battery so fast? Or have you noticed that it doesn't make much difference in battery life having it oc'ed from 650mhz vs 787? Also, how abysmal is the battery life compared to stock clocks? I really want to jump to the new froyo build, but I have a lot of stuff done to my latest 2.1 AOSP build that i don't want to lose. I know it has been asked, but is there a way to carry over my installed apps and sync'd accounts? :-/

Thanks for this! it looks amazing!

Yes you can even remove the overclock line from the startup.txt completely. :) Not too sure about the accounts/apps transfer, I personally dont know of any way, but that doesnt mean there isnt one. Your data.img file is where all of your personal settings are saved. I suppose if you dont end up in an endless boot loop (big if) then as long as you don't delete this file you should be able to keep your settings.

I tried searching so I wouldn't have to look so incompetent, but, will this work if I have a ROM already installed on my phone? Or will I have to have my phone stock (and locked?) to make this work? I'm a bit new to the whole PPC scene and this looks really interesting to me.

Its just like any other installable cab. Put it on your SD card, install it to your SD card, reboot. Its going to boot back into WinMo every time you reboot as this is the OS that is on NAND (internal storage), however now you will have a shortcut in your start menu called "Project Android". This will allow you to choose which handset you are using, choose cdma or not, select the apps you want it to install automatically, and update your handset (although at the moment the zimage update feature is currently broken, rootfs and initrd updates do still work). Your next step is to make sure that 3d is DISABLED (it currently does not work on the rhodium) click the "Run Android" softkey, and wait about 5 minutes for it to run haret and boot up.

Hi All!

I want to thank you all for this - this is excellent.

I take it you can overclock on any build (using Froyo) using a line in the start-up? Can someone provide that line?

Depends on if your apps are Froyo compatible as well, usually if you are using nearly identical "builds" and files it shouldn't matter in Android, but even if it does work and everything transfers over, don't expect it to be running smoothly lol, sometimes your older files will have older data in it and it will contradict the coding of the newer data. That's the case for going from 2.1 to 2.2

For the life of me I cannot get Active Sync to connect to my phone anymore. Are there any tricks you guys use to get it to work? This happened with my Touch Pro also, after a while i couldn't sync with my computer anymore. Is there any other way to back up contacts besides Google sync?

Edit: Solved

787MHz, and its a possibility. You can find the overclock line in the startup.txt. Just reduct the # that is currently at 800000 Khz.

Youre using satellite view, and the reason it has a blank image is because you are out off the coast of africa somewhere!! Switch back to regular view, or zoom out about 15-20 times and you will see whats going on. If you get a lock in WinMo first, or make it so your screen doesnt shut off for 10 minutes or so you will eventually get a fix for your real location, and not for the party us XDA users are having with google buzz out in the ocean.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [7/01] FROYO BETA ADDED!

Thought I'd add in my 2 cents

Finally tried it out and its working great. text a few people, downloaded email and twitter all worked fine. battery meter was visibly jumpy but i wasnt worried about it dying since i had just charged it before, but it was definitely bouncing up and down. the battery ran very warm, i tried disabling a lot of the apps i had because i didnt realize almost everything is set to auto refresh every few minutes so hopefully the next time i try it out it will be cooler, but i had to switch back to WinMo for a while so my hand could cool down/:

basically this works fine for me, the only other thing i would like to see is a working camera application, i mostly use my phone for sms, internet, and twitter, so bluetooth and things of the sort dont affect me. Also an accurate battery meter would be nice but i'm pretty used to my phone that i can guess when its going to die before hand. Sometimes i couldnt get the on screen keyboard to pop up and i really tried not to open the hard keyboard as much since the G-Sensor seemed buggy

Main reason i switched was due to the realization that i could run Android 2.1 with Sense, i always saw people running 1.6 and really am not attracted to that build. this sense build is beautiful though, may try out 2.2 next.

Overall i give it a 7.5-8.0 rating. if battery and camera were working i would give it a solid 9, the bugginess i can deal with. But that's just me.

Again thanks for all your work to the developers. Trying out things like this makes me really appreciate my phone and the online communities

Wait until you try 2.2, you wont care about sense anymore. LOL

Sense is my least favorite, and the most buggy of all the builds. I personally give it around a 4-5 rating, and consider it more of a novelty build, than a day to day user. I guess Ive been using sense back when it was called Manilla3d, so its nothing new to me, but it almost takes away from Android, and REALLY slows it down. Almost makes you feel back like you are running laggy WM again. Just an example, Sense build when in normal use has about 40mb free ram. Use ATK to "Kill all tasks" in the Sense build and you are lucky if you have around 60mb free ram. Do the same with 2.1 or 2.2 w/o SenseUI, youre at about 70-80mb free ram during use and after ATK you have close to 100-110mb free.

is anybody else getting massive battery drain from reefermatts froyo cab version? I removed the overclock and put the sleep mode to 1 instead of 2, an put the line about the proximity sensor (Enable Proximity Sensor - board-htcrhodium-proximity.on=1 Enable Wake on Proximity Sensor - board-htcrhodium-proximity.wake=1) could these be the issue? I am barely getting 6 hours with minimal usage.

Weird scenario-

This is my first time trying android on my sprint CDMA TP2. I just installed the latest build [Froyo]. Currently I'm in Singapore for the summer and I am using a GSM SIM card on a local singapore carrier (SingTel).

I can boot into android but can't get any connectivity from the phone network or from Wifi (even though I have WAP at home). I tried the force cdma option and without it.

Does anyone have advice as to how to get this cab to work correctly if you're on a CDMA TP2, but using a GSM SIM card?

I checked the threads a couple of times, but am unclear as to what to do. Thanks
