Re: [2/27/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

Ok, @ LiquidX with your comment about the clock thing.

I have read in the past that Android and Windows Mobile do not save your clock information the same way on the phone. Therefore, some times when switching between the two, you will you will have your clock look off, it doesn't always happen, but sometimes.

Also, @ all the people saying that there are already other CDMA Android phones

The other phones may be on CDMA, yes, but they were originally built with the intentions of running Android. There are proper drivers for them, the hardware is put together in a way that will support the best Android experience. Touch Pro 2 has different hardware than phones such as the Hero or the Droid. Its almost like saying "If I take a Touch Pro 2 Rom, and Flash it on my Mogul, its the same thing." It just doesn't work, the hardware is different. The drivers are different, and the way the phone works on the inside is different.

With the whole WEP issue, you could always have a MAC authorization as mentioned above, that way, you know your devices are allowed to talk and you don't have to worry about your WEP being essentially unprotected.

true..though the CDMA Touch Pro 2 uses the same Qualcomm MSM 7600 processor as the Droid Eris.
which should lead to easier porting of drivers for video, gps, camera among other things..theoretically

Correct GPS isnt working... When I went into google maps in Android my location was a little off; very close but still a little off... With GPS atleast within windows google maps is on point.

The google map probably fine your location with my location. You can have your gps off and it will use the cellular towers to find your location.

But the processor has nothing to do really with the radio drivers.

Re: [2/27/2010] Google Android for TP2 CDMA [In Dev]

That's not entirely true, as the MSM7600 is a system-on-a-chip that includes the gsm+cdma radio as well as the processor(s?) and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm not sure that that means the droid eris source will actually be much help when it comes. We won't see the RIL, I gather, just the kernel; and I believe we already have kernel support for the voice and data channels of the radio (though this has not been definitively confirmed, as far as I know).
This post has been thanked 1 times.

As MrPippy said before:
