Now you notice pppd is the last step. Funny thing is we arent even getting there, we are failing at least once on 1 and then we keep failing on 2. Only reason i know this is because of the rils i made. They are very verbose so we get to see everything

Unfotunately we cant copy because android is natively setup this way. /etc will always be a link for /system/etc. But thats where it ends. We decide about the internals. So we can move ppp to data if we want to and link it back to /etc

The other method is to recompile pppd and have it look somewhere else. Now arrg was able to bring up data once after much hacking which was manual. But it was also short lived.

At this stage i say we try anything.. i finally got a boost mobile account and will try to activate today. So we will continue this through the weekend.
Great information. I think that if we have it working with rootfs, we should have no issue porting that over to initrd or elsewhere and using symlinks or whatever we need to do. I'm slowly testing out changes at the moment to see what breaks what. Next on my list is to try swapping out android.init and see what changes I need to make to get that one working.

Just wondering why data works on the Full Package build from 1/9 from (post #1), but not the later builds? Shouldnt that help figure out where it broke by comparing the two?

Because It's still running off the SDcard and using the Rootfs, Jjust like Haret.

But yes it will help in comparing them.

With the latest nbh that is posted together with the androidupdate.tgz files fails to install the update and it keeps saying theres a 120 second timeout is it because it's trying to write to early in the NAND but u guys r running the new version which starts later eg sometime after block 18000 and if yes I'm assuming ur not releasing that nbh anytime soon although all we would need to do after that is install a tgz update either tia

Yeah, we are still working on ironing things out. I will try to post a working NBH with everything for you later today. Just going to be tied up for the next 12 hours or so...

Check the autobuild. Looks like ACL just made one.

Re: NAND Boot Testing - 01-07: Panel power on/off fixes

Yu.. lmiller is right. Check the autobuild for fresh NHBs.

The following should be all you need. NOW i lost track of what ril is inside. So let me know what issues come up.

http://htcdevs.wirelesstcp.net/files...16-RHODIMG.NBH
http://htcdevs.wirelesstcp.net/files...roidupdate.tgz
http://htcdevs.wirelesstcp.net/files...oidinstall.tgz
http://htcdevs.wirelesstcp.net/files...install-seq.sh

Thank Boominsvx for getting me a data plan ..lol.

Using the latest files from above and still no data. Not even the 3g icon.

Can you do a quick dump

What i do is put the phone on airplane mode and begin a "logcat -b radio".

Take the phone off airplane mode and lets see what your logs are saying. I'm not sure exactly what ril is in there but one of the rils emwe or jonpry gave us work.

Also check the following.

1) ifconfig and make sure ppp0 is coming up
2) dmesg to make sure permissions are properly set
3) logcat to see if ppp is getting the ip it needs.

Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: also make sure you get the latest android update from the link above. that now has the ppp directory inside data which is needed.
