Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Thanks for the info... took me a long time to find this one for "Standalone GPS". That is all I want, NO aGPS. As soon as someone adds info about aGPS to a fix, it kinda taints the results for me. Did they truly get "GPS" or are they picking up towers and reporting success because they get the "lock". It confirms what I have read in other excellent tutorials, BUT you made the point of not touching aGPS...
and for that I truly thank you!
btw I have not yet gotten my GPS to work... I needed THIS thread to fill in a few questions about doing the initial unlock and why I would be flashing "backwards". But since I've flashed to Alltel, then Bell, then custom ROM and back to Verizon without ever seeing satellites I am finally convinced.
Will report back.

Reporting Back

YES This is just incredible. "Standalone GPS" finally works on my Verizon xv6900/Touch/Vogue... and I understand what I actually did, thanks in large part to your excellent thread for Standalone GPS. The 1st lock took less than 2 minutes tops. All without aGPS.
Thank You!

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Glad to hear your Standalone GPS works. I always use Standalone rather than aGPS, because it can be inacurate for a few seconds when first turning it on.

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Well, I managed to follow all the steps and upgrade to the 6.5 rom here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432487

but now I can't make calls. *228 option 1 didn't work, said I needed to call Verizon's 800 #. I did that and they were clueless.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Pdaphonejunkie RULES!

I have spent the better part of a year trying to get the GPS to work on my touch. When I was a newbie, like an idiot I decided to upgrade the firmware from Verizon to have the latest and greatest. And that's when my GPS stopped working. I've tried almost everything suggested here to fix it - upgraded firmware, downgraded firmware, changed AGPS registry setttings - nothing...until I tried this guide.

Thank you sir. Check your PayPal account and go buy yourself a beer.

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

I just have one question about this:

Will google maps work with this and be ABSOLUTELY free of charges?

Sorry if my question seems kinda stupid, I just got my Vogue a few weeks ago and I wanted to make sure this wouldn't cost me anywhere @_@;

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Thank you!!!

Yesterday I got new Verizon Vogue and tried to make it standalone GPS.
I followed PDAJ's method. But failed. ( I tried over 3 hours )
I used NAFSAN's WM65 and his Verizon Provisioning CAB file.

Today I found incorrect registry settings finally.

I changed it like below and got correct GPS signal. ^^
[HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL GPS]
\EnableAGPS = 0
\EnableSmartMode = 0
\GPSMode = 0

I think it will be helpful others using NAFSAN's latest WM 6.5

Re: How to restore Verizon Vogue Standalone GPS

Glad you got it working but those registry setting don't seem quite right. Wouldn't a zero turn off that fuction? NFSFAN's should have all the correct registry settings & tweaks. I am not exactly sure what he did but I have never had to change anything. Infact I don't evcen need his provisioning CAB.

This is what I have:
EnableAGPS = 1
EnableSmartMode = 1
GPSMode = 2

Did you make sure your PRI was 1.37? Also, I think NSFAN's method uses aGPS, but from those reg setting that would disable aGPS.
