music location

How do you change default location for your music? I have all my music on the storage card and not in 'my music' I am not figuring out how to navigate to my music from the music tab/option.

Re: music location

I too am looking for this. I have the music tab set on tf3d and it goes to storage card/ringers (which is where I have all my ringers stored) and I want it to go to storage card/my documents/my music to locate the files. I went to HKLM>software>HTC>AudioManager_Eng>config and changed both device_scan_path_path_0 and device_scan_path_path to storage card/my documents/my music but it's not working.

with sprint and sd cards, i thought the folder HAD to be called MUSIC, yes in caps, or your phone wont recognize the folder?? kinda like how u used to have the dcim folder on older phones to find your pics and stuff...

give that a shot.. rename the folder, but youll have to change the registry back to /Music as well now

Re: music location

I keep all my MP3 music in a folder called MP3 and my ringtones in a folder called Sounds both on my Storage Card and it finds everything even from day one. I even had to set a playlist to keep the ringtones out of my music

well dont you see then, if your ringtones were in ringtones folder and music was in music folder, then you wouldnt of needed a playlist to keep your ringtones from playing

were you able to set the playlist to a folder or did you have to add each song to a playlist?

I'll try the "music" option and see if that works.

edit: ok I tried it and now it says no music available. I moved MUSIC to storage card and changed the registry. No music found. Moved MUSIC to storage card/my documents/MUSIC and nothing found either.

I had MP3s on my storage card that I didn't want music to pick up, the mp3s are used to my ringers, I had it in a folder named tones and it still picked it up. I think it scans for the extensions because when I dropped the extension, it didn't find it.

if your ringtones r in the device in ringtones where they should be, you wouldnt have that problem... its happening because your just picking storage card in your media player, so yes, it scans the entir card directory..if u move the tones off the card, u wont have that issue

Re: music location

Mine picks up my music on the storage card and even pulls up the album art but has the track length at 0:00 and won't play. These same files play fine on my PC. Anyone else seen that?

well did it occur to you that people might just store their ringtones on their memory card and copy the ones they want to their device to be used for memory purposes. i dont know about other people, but my ringtones that i paid for the mp3 file and edited using adobe audition are around between 300kb to 1.5mb in file size. they take up a lot of space. i usually use them for a while and i dont keep more than about 10 on the device itself at a time. they use up too much memory and the phone starts lagging. anyways, is there some law saying we HAVE to store the ringers on the device when they're not in use?
