Help Guys. I Need A Pep-Talk

The question of all questions: Should I purchase the Touch Pro 2 or the Droid?

I know there have been other threads on this, but after reading them all I was still set on purchasing the Touch Pro 2. That is until this past weekend when half of my family was trying to talk me into the Droid. Their arguments were convincing and now I just don't know what to do anymore. Plus there are other threads on PPCG from Droid users bashing the TP2 and saying how superior the Droid is to it.

Here's my situation: I currently have an Omnia and would consider myself a "power-user". I flash to custom ROMs all the time. I make over 60 registry changes with each flash as I like to customize my phone to fit my exact tastes. I like using GPS navigation with iGO8 and I absolutely MUST HAVE WMWifiRouter or equivalent.

So here's the question: Can the Droid meet all of these needs? If so, can they do them better than the TP2? Is the droid faster or slower? How does RAM and processor speed differ between the two phones? Does the Droid have better battery life? Is Android more customizable than WM 6.5 with a registry editor?

I really need a pep-talk, guys. I've been a WinMo user for life and am now doubting my religion Any input is appreciated because I just don't know what to do anymore

IF I just didn't get a TP2 and IF my contract was about to expire I would switch from Sprint to Verizon just to get the Droid.

IF Sprint had the Motorola Droid, I'd get it

My cousin got a droid, I got to play with it for a few hours and I was just not really that impressed. maybe it’s because I have been using WM for like 9 years but it just did not have that feel of sophistication that WM does. It seemed very disorganized and no real direction, things were scattered and no structure to it. The only thing I found interesting on it is how fast the GPS was and had a nicer camera, and we are not getting phones for camera’s. just my 2 cent’s though.

Heh.

But it still doesn't answer the questions I asked above... Is the Droid better/more capable than the TP2 in the areas I asked above?

Re: Help Guys. I Need A Pep-Talk

Unless you want to keep SERO and/or Sprint I'd get a Droid in a heart beat.

My understanding is Droid has been rooted (kinda like unlocked) and that is required to run WifiRouter like app. If a WifiRouter app does not exist it will soon.

Re: Help Guys. I Need A Pep-Talk

I have a touch pro 2 and i know people with the droid. I be honest thier phones are faster. Going in and out of applications is much quicker. You can have my applications running all at one. Then 1 day you want to switch roms but realize the droid is not compatible or bricks even with official Updates. Then the battery power after 3 hour on net is zero. Wow the droid looked sexy now she has lost her makeup. Touchpro2 bro
long live the king!!!

Iam an up and comming developer if i though windows mobile was dead i be making stuff for droid , but its not next year be a great year.

Re: Help Guys. I Need A Pep-Talk

if droid had sling and sero capable, id go for it, but it looks like you are on verizon and the monthly fee will be the same between the 2... deal breaker for you looks like the internet sharing which i have no clue on droid.

Re: Help Guys. I Need A Pep-Talk

okay...I just came back from the droid to get a touch pro 2...for me it just was ehhh okay.

#1. Logmein is something I use for my work, and with the droid it didnt work, that was a deal breaker for me, might not be for you...but remember this Android is still a young operating system, where as WM has been around for a while, I am 100% sure you will find a solution to everything you need with WM...for Android it might be a while but I am sure they will get there.

#2. I LOVE touchflo 3d, and while the droid "homescreens" were nice, I felt constricted with their widgets...where as I feel alot more free with what I can do with my phone with the TP 2..a lot more customization.
#3. Google Nav was nice but I had garmin so again the big selling point for me was a wash because i Had a GPS program.

#4. The keyboard is cramped...you do get use to it, but once I used the touch pro 2's keyboard I once again realized how small they keyboard was!
#5. Dont get caught up in marketing! the Droid is a VERY nice phone and really you cant go wrong with it, but in the same breath the TP 2 is one the same playing field as the droid.
