implementing a dumb phone feature to save battery

The two non pda phones i've had (samsung upstage and A900) had this feature where if the phone could not find a signal for too long, it would go in this idle mode where it would not keep looking for a signal until you woke up the phone

There's got to be a way to implement this for WinMo. Most of my battery drain comes from being in a room with no signal and the phone just racks up the amps looking for a signal like a mad man. Is there a way to tell it to stop after x number of minutes?

i think you mean airplane mode
when i take the subway, i put my phone in airplane mode, and it disables the search for a signal

Re: implementing a dumb phone feature to save battery

exactly what adrian said. The phone should be smart enough to stop trying after a while until you wake up the phone or something. any kind of app that puts the phone in airplane mode automatically would work perfectly.

Re: implementing a dumb phone feature to save battery

Yea it would be nice to work with GPS coordinate, if not move then stay in air plane mode. Good application to save battery.
