Re: HTC_CM_Killer

How does this differ from just removing the service from startup, rebooting with it not running, then deleting the registry entries associated with the CM Guardian service?

another (required?) service will launch the exe at boot. if you delete the file, the rom will promptly replace it, thus replacing the file with a dummy.

I don't have one of those, but it should. it can't hurt since it only messes with the specific guardian file.

let me know.

This seems not working for my TP2 either. The "killer" installed without an issue but didn't do its job. my phone network still shows Sprint. I tried to delete it or change the setting. it jump back almost right away. Any thought?

I am running Energy Rom 28011 dec 31 version. I tried your fix & it did not work on restarting the phone everything was over written with default rom settings in reg files.

Any advice?

It is a fully automated cab file to completely remove and replace the stock HTC_CM_Guardian.exe with a dummy file.
it should work on any HTC device, but let me know your mileage.

***Please terminate any active data connection before running***
**this will reboot the phone when finished.

more info; (htc_CM(carrier modifications)_guardian(prevents change)
HTC_CM_Guardian is process locked into stock HTC roms (carrier specific???)
this process appears to only monitor certain registry/phone settings, reverting any change back to factory default.
removing this file is futile as another HTC file will regenerate this one, however if it is replaced with a dummy file the system cannot execute and the watcher thinks it exists.

'Killing' this process saves memory and lets you tweak to your hearts content.

this cab will kill the already running process, replace it with a dummy file, and reboot when finished.

you can uninstall, but the dummy file will remain.
to revert (not sure why) just delete the dummy file from \windows

I'll get a chance to look into it soon, I'm assuming there's a newer version of the guardian.

Hello shaggylive

I have a Verizon TP2 with the stock WM6.1 on it.

I've installed your file and it indeed has replaced the factory one with a 0 kb file in the windows directory but it is still showing up in services running menu of FdcSoft's Task Manager.

Unfortunately I really don't know how I can test this so all I can do is ask but is this normal that is still shows up there but as it is a 0 kb fie its not actually doing anything or is the fact that is shows up there mean it actually is somehow running?

I guess what I'm asking is, if your file is actually working, will it still show up there?

Thanks

Re: HTC_CM_Killer

no, it's simply an empty txt file renamed to exe so will never execute.
what is the exact file name of the guardian running? location?
