Re: Updated WeatherPanel theme for 240x240 devices (Treo)

Am I missing something? I don't see an attached file to download.
Where's the file?

What's different about it:

Instead of designing a whole new them, I modified the Default theme files to fit the Treo 700 - while attempting to maintain the original look of the WeatherPanel detail screens.

How I did it:

I determined which files WeatherPanel was using to display the detail screens (both graphic and layout files). Next, I altered the graphic files the best I could - no flaming from graphics artists please! I then rearranged the layouts to fit.

What it contains:

It contains updated graphics and layout files, plus most of the Today screen layout files that have been posted in this thead by myself, Malatesta and Treonated.

How to install it:

Download the attached file and upzip it. Copy the Simple-240 folder (and files) to your device at \Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes. Then enter the WeatherPanel setup and change the theme to Simple-240 and, select on of the Simple-240 layouts (if you want - any Default layout will work too).

You DO have to be logged in to see that file, seeing as you only have 1 post did you happen to not see the file, log in and post that you can't see the file and not check that post?

Hey Malatesta,

Any screenshots with the Stealth theme by any chance? I installed the Vista theme from that Wiki but it took over the whole screeen (the ones that fit). Not really looking for something like that.

give me a day or so...sorry, real busy.

One thing I learnd from the Stealth theme is having it show the forcast in text e.g. you can get it to say "Partly cloudy in NYC" I then added "w/ x% chance of rain". Looks cool.

WeatherPanel New Site

For those of you interested in WeatherPanel a large group of the followers/developers moved to this site due to the spam/trolls at the old site. More images can be found here.

It's really the trial version, however, the developer of the application has been missing for 1+ years and it seems as if the trial never expires.

It is NOT recommended to buy this application since many people have reported no getting a reg code for it. As I mentioned, the app has essentially gone free... but anything can happen in the future.

How would you compare this to PocketWeather? I currently am trying out PW and I like the look of it...lots of info, clean looking icons and the today plugin fits nicely. However, there is the issue of having to eventually pay for it and also, it seems to not be able to update quite often. There is an option to display the last update time and often times...I can see that it hasn't updated for hours...sometimes half a day.

EDIT:

Well...instead of asking, I did what I should have done from the start and I installed ran WeatherPanel myself. So far so good. Seems to have a better overall look than PocketWeather with all the functionality that I was used to. Plus, the icon transitions when you change locations in the today panel is cool.

New WP theme: Stealth-240

Stealth-240 WeatherPanel theme

Thanks to Malatesta for turning us on to the Stealth theme. Here?s a modified version that looks better - and fits our device.

Based on the STEALTH theme, developed by Ken of WeatherPanel.net fame. The original theme can be found here.

Changes:

So many I?m not even going to go into it. If you?ve used the old one, you?ll definitely notice the difference. This package includes Malatesta?s Malatesta popup combo layout, plus a modified version of it called Malatesta popup combo_2.

How to install it:

Download the attached file and unzip it. Copy the Stealth-240 folder (and files) to your device at \Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes (Note: there's a readme file in the zip with more detailed instructions). Then enter the WeatherPanel setup and change the theme to Stealth-240 and, select one of the Stealth layouts.

What it looks like:

Malatesta popup combo_2.wpl layout on both a light and dark Today theme. As you can see, it disappears on the black theme (still looks good though):

-

I added little ?stealth? icons to perform the pop-up functions. Here?s a legend:

  1. Hidden settings button
  2. Change city (up)
  3. Change city (down)
  4. Information icon ? forecast pop-up
  5. Graph icon ? graphs pop-up
  6. Radar icon ? radar pop-up
  7. Refresh
Other updated layouts include Stealth and Stealth 4cast:

When you click on the date, it cycles through other variations:

-

This layout is included in Stealth 4cast (for those with REALLY good eyes):

Pics of the improved pop-up windows on the next post...
