Just looking for GPS software that'll speak the directions to me

Is that what it means when it says TTS in the product description of the software? Does TTS mean it'll say stuff like "turn left at the next exit"?

Anways, I've done the research here, but I've seen a couple posts saying that one doesn't speak directions, then someone else will say it will. There's no trials of these either, so I don't know which one to go with.

I don't really care who makes it, or how much it costs (as long as it's less than $150 bucks or close to it). Also there's so many damn versions of each, that I don't know what to go with. Honsestly, if google maps would speak the directions, I'd just stick with that.

Anyways, any help? If you do say something like yes tomtom speaks the directions, could you include what version you're talking about? All helpful responses will be thanked.

Thanks, but why does it need text to speach? Is it just saying that the software can interpret the text directions and speak them out?
If so, which ones do this?

Re: Just looking for GPS software that'll speak the directions to me

Yes, TTS means it reads/speaks the text.

I use iGO8 (has TTS) and it works pretty well. I actually prefer TomTom7 but it doesn't have TTS so I stuck with iGO. iGuidance 2009 (and previous versions) also has TTS but I did not like the interface at all (outdated and not finger friendly).

Here's the link for iGO/OCN: http://www.oncoursenavigator.com/

cheaper here: http://www.buygpsnow.com/oncourse-navigator_64.aspx

Check out the videos and reviews on the net for detailed views.

BTW, what device are you using?

Both of those actually link to same site, but I still thanked you for that.
I'm on a Sprint Touch Pro.

See, now I thought TomTom 7 was one of those that did have TTS. Maybe this thread will get some definitive answers in it and help others out, too.

Fixed the link. TomTom7 is for multiple types of devices. TomTom7 for ppc has no TTS as far as I know.

AmazeGPS does turn by turn. Search Google for the site.
