Re: opera 15529 with 3.1 flashlite

I tried installing this, but when it asked if i wanted to uninstall the previous version it told me that it couldn't. I read somewhere to kill the opera processes first (opera9 & operaL), so i tried that and still no go (i used sktools). I tried a build a while ago and i thought i remember it uninstalling the previous version without a problem...
Any thoughts on this? Thanks

try deleting the opera folder in Start>programs>file explorer>windows, but you will lose your favorites and such. then soft reset, kill the opera process, then try to install the cab.

thanks for the reply... i just decided to use the install anyway option and it seems to have worked without using up any extra memory. the weird thing is that after installation, it said installation was unsuccessful. the build date appears in the about section, so i'm not sure why it said it wasn't successful because everything seems to be working fine. anything i should look out for that could be messed up now?

yep, sometimes it say unsuccessful but still updates the build to the version you just installed. i would keep an eye on it and see if it works properly. It should be fine though. If not, try doing the same process, delete the opera folder in windows, kill the opera9.exe process and install again. By the way, you should try 15613 build sometime when you have time. I have found this build to be very fast rendering pages. now flash video content is always hit or miss in every opera build, but at least the speed is improved. good luck!

edit: sorry Darren gots you covered.

i haven't messed with any config settings in 6 months and i don't ever remember doing anything for cache (i think all i ever did was change to desktop view). please advise me how to change cache location and which setting works best. i'd appreciate it, thanks.

note: man, i never realized how many builds of opera have piled up over the past 6 months.... i came across this page over at xda and was shocked - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486502

i'm assuming the highest number isn't always the best or newest since they came off of different phones. after glancing through some pages, it seems people say the omnia builds are the speediest - so the one you posted must be one of the more popular builds. is there a reason why you posted this particular build?

here are instructions to move the opera cache to internal storage.

1. open opera, clear out the address bar and type opera:config, hit enter
2. on the next page, scroll down to user prefs, select it
3. scroll down to cache directory4, change \windows\ to \internal storage\ (just change this part only).
4. scroll to the very bottom, hit save and wait for it to save. then exit opera.

when you open opera now, all cache will be saved to your internal storage. there will be a folder called opera9 listed now. additionally you can install cleartemps which you can use to free up cache for various programs including opera, ie, livesearch, googlemaps, etc. good luck.

also, regarding the opera versions, its not always the case that the higher number is better although most show improvements. I have found 15613 to be my favorite but that's just my opinion.
