Whats up there Caddieguy. Well, i was using mobile shell from day one, but i just cant stick with it. I like your custom icons too much to ditch P+ :) i really really wanted to like MS 3.0, and i think i did for a couple days. But there's just too much goin on with it. This is gonna sound super stupid i bet, but i like the simplicity of MS 2 more, and went back to it. I dont know, maybe i didnt give it enough time, but i just wasnt "feelin' it" with MS 3.0. Im sure ill give it another go, one of these days.

Can you pic items in there? I haven't attempted that yet....I really like that launcher though.

Another thing...has anyone found a My Menu-type od area like on the old Shell where we could add apps to the different folders (Media, Games.....)?

I was reading more over at SPB, and there is actually a sub-forum for widget requests....I am thinking if there is enough interest for specific type of widgets SPB would be open to at least thinking of releasing more!!

I believe this issue was mentioned before in this thread:

I'm running NFSFAN's winmo 6.5 V7 rom, with MS3 installed. Has anyone experienced when recieving a call that it doesn't show contact information or pictures until you answer the call? Any fix for this?

Why wont the start bar go away? Is that a trial version limitation?

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 3.0!!

Nope....this version of Shell doesn't cover the upper task bar like Shell 2 did!! A big step back for SPB in my opinion.

Same in leaked and official though!!

If Inactive doesnt exist, just create new DWORD Inactive = 1

Changing Index will change the order the shortcuts are displayed.

You can also enable/disable other Internet tab content in:

HKLM\Software\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\Menu\Root\Internet

I hope this wasnt posted already...I searched Opera in this thread.

Looking around in the threads on SPB's website, it apparently only supports OEM Opera installations. Since my phone (Treo Pro) didn't come with Opera, I'm out of luck.

That's kinda bizzare tho... you'd think they'd be installed in the same folder regardless.

first of all kill the mobileshell.exe process using a taskmanager
open sktools and go to the ALL Category.
Find Move Data and Select Move Folder
browse to the Mobile Shell Folder and Select it
now it should ask where do you want to move it Select \Storage Card\Program Files
Let it do its Work
Restart Mobile Shell

P.S. Still no go on ThumbCal integration with Shell!!!

Sorry it should be Inactive = 0. No it wasnt enabled when istalled...It works for me. I wondered why it doesnt work. Again sorry for the wrong values to you and anyone else that tried this. I updated the post with the values.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 3.0!!

GOT IT!!!!

OK.....integration of ThumbCal with MS3 is a bit different than it was for MS2 and not quite perfected yet.

unzip the file I posted earlier, and drop the .dll file into the MS3 Program folder on the device (used to go into the ThumbCal folder...not with 3 though) and then hit the reg file to activate it.

The imperfect part (from the tweaker of this file):

"Yes, the calendar widget doesn't work with this plugin. I'm still watching at this but all menu in the launcher and in organizer menu are mapped to Thumbcal instead of Outlook. Sorry for calendar plugin but I haven't v.2 so I didn't know this worked with this widget too before."

Sure enough, the widget brings you to the WM screens, but when you go through the launcher menu you open ThumbCal.

The strange part is I now have two options for Calendar and Tasks, but two have "(ThumbCal)" after them and the other two are in French (everything else in English). Not sure if it is due to the tweak or if it was that way before!!

I'm loving this right now on my VX6800, but I have one question.

How can I get a button in my volume control like in HTC home that will allow me to put my phone into silent mode, but still let the Alarm sound?? I miss that so much and hate it when get a call when I'm sleeping.

Covering the start bar in Mobile Shell 2.0 caused a bug where if you missed the audio notification for an appointment you wouldn't know it by looking at the screen since the notification icon is on the start bar. By having it visible in Mobile Shell 3.0 they have alleviated the problem. If they cover it up then they would need to find a way to deal with this situation. Maybe a reminder widget.

If you mean on the moving Shell to a memory card, the original author didn't do it, and I didn't really plan on it either, I just wanted to keep you guys up on the latest tweaks. As for the ThumbCal integration, I posted a few above, but it does work...not 100%, but if you use the launcher to get to calendar, it works fine.

I was wondering why so many people didn't like the top bar covered, that makes sense. I use S2U2, so all my notifications show there. I have seen they are working on new widgets, I think different types of notifications are the most requested, so hopefully soon.

What version of ThumbCal are you using? If you are using the earlier free version, I am not sure if this will work at all, but if you have the recent pay version, and think(understandably from the wording) that this file is asking you to register (AKA pay for a code) just for this tweak, not at all, all you do is click yes and it makes the connection between ThumbCal and MS3, nothing else.

asapelectric 04-23-2009 06:08 PM

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 3.0!!

Syrguy 1969- I clicked yes and closed it, got pulled off to do somethingelse. That was just the impression I got when it ask yes for registered. I was gonna see what this file did, exactly. I thought maybe it put ThumbCal as one of the pages or something, that would be cool. Because I could just put the shortcut as a widget on the page, but that wouldnt be as cool as having it already replacing the calender as whole, or is that even possible.

I agree having these 3rd party apps as separate widgets would be cool!! I am adding the new English file to fix the menu for calendar + tasks from being in french!!!

Yes, mine did come with Opera, maybe that is why yours doesn't. I am not sure, but maybe if you import a reg entry (assuming you have Opera installed on the device, otherwise it would need tweaking) like I have on mine to include Opera in the menu.

Go to HKLM\Software\SPB Mobile Shell\Menu\Root\Internet and see if you have a folder named Opera....if you do, open that folder, and change the DWORD value of Check to 1.

If you don't have an Opera folder, I am adding my reg file for it. Please have a backup done before you attempt either meathod, and if anyone here knows about reg editing pretty well, please look this over first...I am no expert!!!!

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 3.0!!

hbenz2008.....The ThumbCal integration file I found on the SPB thread must have been written in French to begin with because when users installed it, we wound up with a couple french terms on the MS3 screen (nothing major), so it isn't a french site, but I will post the link to the thread here if your interested in getting in touch with that member.

P.S. The English 'fix' doesn't seem to do anything, I will try a reset and let you guys know.

will the thumbcall plugin for v2 work?

syrguy1969 04-24-2009 12:26 AM

Re: SPB Mobile Shell 3.0!!

Apparently the version 2 patch doesn't work as well (if at all). The version I posted works pretty well if you access calendar and tasks through the launcher. There is also a difference in installation. in the MS2 version you placed the .dll file in the ThumbCal program folder...in the MS3 version, you drop the .dll file into the Shell program folder.

The English fix file I posted just a couple posts ago really didn't do anything for me, maybe with a new install it will work. I went through the reg editor and changed the text values for calendar and notes and I am all set now.
