Holy crud! How freaking awesome is this?
And so far everything works.
Now I just need some sort of manual to help me figure it all out.
There's a lot of stuff here.
Anyone know if there's a way to set the links to alternative calendars and contacts? These still go to the OEM.

I've been using this and playing around with it for 20 minutes and I think it could do two things for me.
1. Stop me from having to worry about what ROM I'm using for quite some time.
2. Give me something entirely different to obsess about for quite some time.

go to launcher .. recently used...spb mobile shell.. system
override "start"
Use 3d accellerator

not sure what these options do ... anyone?

Override start will open the SPB launcher when you tap "start" instead of going to the wm default start menu. Not sure on the other...I was curious about that myself.

pressing the home button doesnt do anything.. i liked that with tf3d it would take u to main screen... also have to figure out how to get thumbcal to be calendar program...

I'll have to guess that "Use 3D accellerator" uses different drivers to improve 3D graphics performance.
Trying now to find out what the Override "Start" is about... resetting...
Nice.
It gives you a touch friendly Start menu.
So far- little things that don't impress me:

1. Weather only allows you to see one city at a time. (But the list is much more detailed than the Manila 3D weather!)
2. When you switch themes (really just colors) it brings you to the WM6.1 Today screen. MS3 is still running, but in the background.
3. It breaks SSMaHo so I'm going to have to figure out a way to link the calendar and contacts to PI8. :(
4. When a new SMS is received and I tap on the counter, it brings me to the list of messages instead of to the new message.
5. All the selected text is now highlighted in my theme color. In this case, blue. Strange, but not bad.

There is always one button somewhere on the screen to take you to the home screen... I think. The triangle on the lower left seems to do it.

It's working- but the server is overloaded. I just got it.
I'll post it if it's OK to do so.

i got it to work but is a .exe file how do i get it to work on my phone.? is gonna be free upgrade i have the 2.0 version?

Figured it out...apparently it didn't like the latest build of S2U2. Once I removed that it was fine.

Just an fyi for COZ, apparently it (files) got taken down by a mod over at xda because he said they were receiving complaints from spb. hopefully they dont look here.

interesting. I guess because I had the registered version on there, it says my 15 day trial is over and I have to register. guess my mobile shell 2 serial is not valid for this version. Oh well, back to MS2

It may not be set up to recognize your ms2 registration b/c it's not an official release. When they officially release it, it won't have the bugs that this version does.

Nope. If you go to their website it still shows version 2. It's cool to get it early though, bugs or not.


FYI...for anyone having problems adding a city to your weather, you will need to uninstall this version, install version 2, set up weather, then re-install version 3 again. Once you do that, your weather information will already be set when you open version 3 again.

How is the performance effect? Does it slow down your phone much?

I remember reading a description of MobileShell somewhere (don't remember what version or where I read it) and it said that it would have more functions for some of the modules if the complete versions were purchased from Spb.
ie. Profiles and message counters would be more customizable with Phone Suite installed. More cities available at one time if Weather2 was installed. etc.
Anyone know if any of this is true and to what extent?

I guess as long as it's coming from their (SPB) site then we have not violated our (PPCGeeks) rules regarding warez, etc. However, if the release is premature or violates some aspect of SPB we'll take it down if contacted.
