awesome, *hits thanks key*

Would love to see this intergrate with facebook, I could update my status and let everyone know where I am when I choose to. I guess it will just be a matte of time before google gets an app for fb client.

add me as well brandonwentland (at) gmail {.com}

From what I can tell it updates when you open the GM and it refreshes automatically without you having to hit menu and the latitude option. Which i was under the impression that it would update by itself without me opening the app. It still is very cool and i will continue to use it. Thanks to everyone who has added me to their list and for those who have accepted my request. The idea if one of us ever travels and we happen to be near by that we can meet for a brewski or coffee is just another way to make us better as a community.

It won't update in the background until sprint allows developers to access tower triangulation. This is why My Location doesn't work for Google Maps without turned on GPS in our phones, but does on other networks.

So instead of latitude showing where you are, latitude shows "Here's the last place I had google maps running"

Sprint requires the developers to work with Sprint directly if they want access to tower data, where as GPS is just a piece of hardware and a driver that anyone can develop an app to access the data from.

These are the requirements from sprint to access location services (which include triangulation)

partnership.
