That is what I wanted to know. I think you have to insert them into the nb.payload file but not sure how to.

Try XIPPorterEx. Should be included in what ever kitchen you may be using.

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

Oops! I did something wrong. I managed to get to the "Tap the screen to setup your Windows Mobile Phone." screen. Looks like I may have missed something in the SYS files though....my touch screen doesn't work!!! ActiveSync connected though. Tried a hard reset, no go. Gonna look again and reflash. FYI: This is on my XV6800 that was previously running Mr-FREE's WM 6.5 Beta 5 just prior to this flash.

I'll post again with whatever I find out.

And yes, the XIPPorterEx is a good one to use, the only issue I am having is that the RUU still recognized the ROM (21176) as 21159 because that was the XIP I had in the XIP_Old folder. Gonna dig in some more and see if I can get an os.nb.payload out of the files posted above. I did get the boot.rgu, just gotta look at things again.

There are already a couple. However, they are out of my reach (of understanding). A lot of technical stuff :(

Go to your kitchen, in your system folder open Base_DPI_96, there should be 3 sub-folders there.
Shellres.96.dll is the one you are looking for, replace the folder with another rom's shellres.96.dll folder which has the okay button you like. Cook your rom and now you have an ok button of your choice.
Give me feedbacks.

Does anyone know of a Windows Mobile forum from Australia, UK, or Great Britain? The FCC does not have jurisdiction over them, so I am wanting to look in one of those countries for some builds.

I have the translator plug-in for Firefox, so that's not much of an issue. I was looking more along the lines of the fact that the countries listened above have some of the world's greatest developers. And the fact that they are typically open source and have English as a major language, it would be fairly easy to find a working ROM in a language we can read, but I am having trouble finding any sites directed at Window Mobile devices. I have been going old school and searching the IRC channels as well since you cannot regulate a person's hard drive, and that is how the IRC File xfrs work. Just a thought to get what we need while still dealing with open source software.

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

Guys I am at my wits end... I can't get 21176 running on my Samsung i780 :( Basically the device shows the Windows Mobile logo and the cursor (on the green backround), plays the sound (the one that goes off when the Welcome screen tells you to tap you screen to setup the device) but sits on the Windows mobile logo screen .. if I let it there for a minute the screen turns off and I can't wake the device up anymore (pressing the power button only makes the LED blue), if I keep tapping on the screen the device won't shutdown but still sits there at the logo screen..

I've tried replacing gwes.exe and the associated mui from a WM6.1 release (21109 build) and this resulted in a black screen.. my XIP is 21176 (ported), seems it's working OK (no !!!!!! when building it) since the device actually boots up.. deleting welcome.lnk or exe doesent help, the sound still plays and the Windows mobile logo is still there.. setting the welcome screen not to show (in the associated rgu file) doesen't help..

Anyone PLEEEEASE help, thank you in advance!

Well, that's rather too much of labour. Here is an easier way for anyone to over come inter overflow. Take out some folders from the system folder, (for no reason I'd always taken out the six browser folders, and it always worked) greloc, put back the folders removed, greloc again and you are done. Like I said, easy! Somebody give this a shot.

vickylife007,
Wow~~ Thanks a lot. The most boring & time-consuming part in ROM building became quite easy now. :)

Very Alpha SYS. I got it to boot once and I uploaded. Using MUI from 21169, Chome seems to be broken right now I am working on that. but this will get some of you started.

Also here is the orginal qvga 0804 files so you guys can get to work. its time for me to go to bed now.

I grabbed the 21185 VGA, XIP, and the 0804 QVGA as well. If M$ Deletes this, I also have a copy to share. Though I do not have access to an FTP Server....but I do have ICQ and NetMeeting....and about 6 TB to hang onto files :-D

very valid way to do it but much harder than using XIPPortEX I will try to make a tutorial later on how to port using XIPPorter. so far the only device I have done it for is the touch pro but the same method should work for those using the Diamond. I will work on porting for the mogul and the vogue later. hoping to have it done by the weekend possibly. Just look for the thread Ill put it in ppc software.

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

if you are using ppckitchen, you can set it up to insert it for you, with other kitchens, you have to insert it into your payload

aaronpoweruser 03-14-2009 12:24 PM

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

ok so with pppckitchen i just put in the build os folder

dan-htc-touch 03-14-2009 01:06 PM

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

it has to co in your devices core/rom, and the txt's have to point to it properly, you will need to add a line in devicebases, and create a new buildbases txt

Can you walk us through how to insert this into the payload? And what portion of the process differs between devices? (ie what do we have to do different for the Touch, Diamond, Titan, etc.....if anything)

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

ervius's kitchen will slap a xip_out.bin into a payload I think, but I've only used it once, I don't use anything but ppckitchen because it's more versatile, and easier to use if you have several devices
