Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

I have found a problem with 23049 (6.1 nk.exe) and sending SMS. I am able to receive but not send. This isn't the "click the send icon and nothing happens" problem - instead messages sit in the outbox, or disappear from the outbox and are shortly followed by a pop-up notification like below:

"Text Messages Retry
{message #}
{message recipient and first few characters}
Error Class : Temporary
Cause Code : SMS Org.D.
Unable to send message.

I can click retry but the error reappears.

This could be a network or account problem from some research. I will be flashing to a stock ROM to check, then trying 23053. But if anyone has any ideas, I will appreciate any insight.

EDIT - confirmed the problem remains on a stock ROM as well. Definitely a problem with my account / carrier. Next step - call to customer service geniuses...

I have same issue from 23045 and it was because the Outlook enhancement. In a first time i solve it with a 21047 outres.dll.0c0a.mui
But now just eliminate the package and all works well. The sync is ok too.

Yes I am. Strange thing is that I deleted all instants of the file "EXCEPT" the standalone OSNBTool.exe archive (even though Norton said it was infected). When I scanned just that folder again... Norton said it was okay(?)

I've never had that problem. Were you ever able to get this resolved? My only thought is that it may be a NTFS permissions issue. I you verified that the user account you are running under has full rights to the folders?

yes idk what the heck it is. runnin win 7, which could hypothetically be it also i suppose, n have full permissions, but maybe i'll have to manually set them. that's what i'm at for the next try at least. really gettin on my nerves tho haha thanks for the next good idea bro

I've cured the problem but I'm not convinced. Turns out my carrier PPP username and password had been cleared out and this was causing SMS to fail. I hadn't noticed because the phone had WiFi and ActiveSync for data. Anyway, I reset this info and the problem went away. Maybe it was the solution, maybe it was coincidence. I had been on the phone with VZW as well.

so can someone please tell me if i got this right before i waste time cooking:

21857 seems to be fastest, but it has old look (smaller bars & not finger friendly)
23053 has new look with finger friendly UI and nice icons on drop taskbar
23414 also has new look & finger friendly + new contacts menu ...but does it have the nice icons on the drop taskbar too?

also in 23052 colume control had better graphics..52&53 for some reason went back to ugly circle graphics..is it better in 23414?

any issues / bugs / or good things in 23414 (other than better contacts)?
i am using 23053 now is it worth working on 23414?

thanks

I use Ervius Visual Kitchen on Win7, no problems. But I know Win 7 can do some weird permissions things to me sometimes. So in just in case you don't know how to reset permissions on all sub-folders and files, here's the how-to:

Try going to the properties on the root folder of your kitchen, then security. Make sure you account has full rights. Then, hit advanced, hit Change permissions and check the box that says "Include inheritable permissions....", then hit ok till you are done.

My experience with 23414 was not that good. It was sluggish. Though most of the GUI enhancements from the COM3 tree are present. But I only used it for a very short period of time as I wanted to get 23053 up and going instead since I didn't feel like redoing my customized shell icons (actually stepping BACK the changes I already made), so it may have been an OEM of mine causing the slowness. I didn't take the time to figure it out.

Slightly off topic but does anyone know if a 6.5 nk.exe will boot a wm6.1 OS? Was hoping for the extra realloc slots on wm6.1 and planning on modulating many of the files for faster rom hopefully. Just wanted to ask before I spend a few hours coming to a dead end if it won't boot a prior OS.

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

do a test, take a working 6.1 SYS and ROM, and then only chagne the XIP and if it does not boot then it wont work, if it does boot it will work. I dont see why it would not work, since when porting a XIP you dont change the nk.exe but if you already have a working base, old or new stuff it will be a good way to test.

joojoo,

I am having troubles getting a build either from 23414 or 23053.

23412 works just fine and I followed the same process in configuring PPCK as I have in all of the prior updates

These are the first two builds that will not go past the main splash screen on my Apache. I have not selected anything different in the builds from 23412.

any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

I can verify it is not in the common or dpi files. Can't verify the apache xip.
Might want to double ck build base and device txt files one more time.
Or post build status log.

Just a guess in the dark.

Yeah, we are going to need a better link. ;) If you suspect the XIP, use a slightly older one. I.E if 23052 XIP booted, use that for 23053. 23414, use the 23412. If they are bad, I will make you some new ones :D

Having trouble receiving files via bluetooth in 23052.
Can anyone confirm if they are also having this problem?
if so does it work in 23053?

I am using JDs 23052... did not cook it myself but will look into cooking if its fixable or just wait for a new build if not.

Have you tried to restart everything and build again?

Re: WM 6.5 Kitchen QVGA and VGA Developer Edition

I did not modify anything that I am aware of.

I copied the common and 96dpi files into the kitchen file.

Put the XIP file in the ROM folder of the Apache file

Made new build base folders and added the XIP line to the device base folder.

I did this just as I have done on probably 10 or 15 builds prior.

I will try the older XIPs and see if that does anything.

Thank you.

A Dumb Query :
1. I cooked my ROM with 23034 for Elfin.
2. Here I observed that, there is no setting for Power in Start -> Settings -> System. The only way to get there is battery icon on today's screen.
3. I am able to find it with 21851 for Elfin.

Has anyone observed this? Or this is an artifact of my ROM cooking technique which needs to be reviewed?
