The wife and I have had sprint phones for, er, forever. Way back in '02ish we had samsung VGA1000 "vision" phones and Picture Mail! And Vision! (wow, WAP on a tiny 6 line flip phone. That takes me back) Anyway, we could use picture mail. It was well integrated. It still did that weird web-based you have a PM thing, but it worked. We would send em to each other now and then... Then we upgraded a few years back to 6700s. No PM. But, you had real speeds, real internet, real email. You could email pictures to each other. We got over no PM... Now I'm on a mogul, she's on a touch.... and so the other day I'm all happy saying "Hey honey, we've finally got Picture Mail again!" She says, and I kid you not, "Why the hell would we want that?" "Uh. Well. It's neat?" Sigh. Yep. It is neat though. |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
Has anyone called about the G66 error? I get the error rather quickly, it's like the phone doesn't even bother checking the network even though the data connection is open.

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
Anyone else notice that when you send it they don't show up in sent items folder and it's not in the out box while sending? I can't find any way to verify it actually went out except to see if they respond.

I totally agree!... the only thing "Official" has going for it is Video, but it does not support .gif .... so for now im using both. and I also like the way sMMS recives. bitter sweet but better than nothing another half a$$ed attempt form Sprint, just what we have come to expect..... |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
I really wish there was an option to send new pictures captured from my camera through picture mail. I don't want to have to navigate to the image I just took to send picture mail.

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
With this New Picture Mail App, any time I receive Picture Mail...it will show a text box...indicating you have new picture mail but will not provide a link. How am I suppose to look at the pics...could find them through online photo album...however I send a pic to someone they can see the text message and link. Anyone else having similar issues??
|
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
you can send from the camera by selecting the envelope and choosing to send as picturemail
....and when I receive a picturemail it provides a "View Picture Mail" button when I open the txt. |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
working for me good stuff. i had been using sMMS before now so i hadnt gone without picture mail anyway.
|
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
I have not seen a picturemail button appear at all when I receive the text message. I have a mogul....and tried reinstalling the app...then tried sending a pic..and got the G66 error a few times and then it when through...was able to access my online album and send pics...but the text message does not give a way to access the pic via link or button...

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
Also....can someone explain this to me....Sprint is discontinuing it's pcsmail site on dec31st.....and this "picturemail" feature is still using that site as a portal. I just sent and recieved a few pics with this new "picturemail" feature...and BAM ..i see it in my mailbox online! (on pcsmail site).
So my question is....how will this utility work after Dec31st? :silent: |

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
Ok I have resolved the issue!!! with not being able to see either link or icon.... I had previously installed Cody Threaded SMS after upgrading to Windows 6.1 pro...this obviously caused a confliction with the built-in threaded sms new in windows 6.1.
After uninstalling it...I sent myself a picture mail test..and was able to see link and icon. :headbang: |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
I'm having a weird problem with my mogul... Sprint Picture Mail works fine, but then my phone goes into sleep mode and when I wake it up, the "START" in the top left says "PICTU...", the taskmanager icon in the top right is an "ok" box, and the softkey labels on the bottom of the screen are not visable.
Clicking "PICTU..." opens up the start menu, clicking on the "ok" box doesn't do anything, and I can access the softkeys by pressing the actual buttons but not the touch screen. I have to click on the start menu, select "Today" and it goes back to normal except for the softkeys... I gotta play around with the menus a few times to get them to reappear. Any ideas on what program might be conflicting with it? Currently loaded onto the today screen: Pocket Digital Clock Spb Phone Suite NueMinutes ProgramLauncher I still get the same problem when I disable all of the above, and I've soft reset the phone several times, and uninstalled/reinstalled Picmail atleast 3 times. |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
It works on my mogul but i have a few issues with the actual program.
1. When I get a picture/media mail message I too don't get a link. So what do i have to do? A. Dismiss message. B. Open messaging. C. Click on new message. D. Click on view picture mail. Does everybody have to go through all those steps? 2. Why didn't they create another account in our messaging category? There's no inbox/sent folders for me to view. Someguys sMMS program was great with that. 3. I guess when I send these guys I should assume they'll go through like a text message (no confirmations). All in all I still think Someguys sMMS is better. I'm sure sooner or later he'll figure how to send media. |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
I still don't understand creating an application to send picture mail instead of setting up a REAL MMS server..... Sure, it's better than nothing but lets get the real deal already. I'd have expected this app back in early 2000 not late 2008.
|
yeah, no record it was ever sent. Doesn't show up in the Outbox, or Sent box. uh, o-kay...

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile

no .gif support and a much cheaper interface sMMS=372k, no video, but a much more friendly interface. all in all I think ill stick with sMMS just for ease of use! on a side note if one guy with a little knowledge and a desire to make something work cas come up with a program like sMMS, why can't Sprint pull there heads out long enough to get it right? or at least a lot closer. |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
Finally!
So far works really smooth on my Mogul! Not giving me registration and memory errors like the Diamond leak from a few weeks back and overall seems pretty stable. Not as good as Arcsoft, but better than nothing I guess. I don't really care much about the incoming being stored on Sprint Side and not the phone (since I Hard Reset regularly). I cared more about actually sending MMS to other phones. At least I can actually do that... |
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
diamond worked for me and this one didn't

Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
SomeGuy sMMS is superior! works first time, every time. and im sure its only a matter of time before he gets video support. so for now im sticking with him! now if Sprint gets this mess fixed I will give it a try again.
|
Re: Sprint officially releases Picture Mail for windows mobile
eh, I don't see myself using this enough to justify another $5 a month when I'm using a get everything plan already.
