you might try and update the sync SW plugin i went from ver 1.4x to 1.57. 1.57 seems to be working!!! i am able to sync contacts, calender, and my to do list. one thing i did notice I could not update from 1.4x to 1.57 in 1 step. i had to sync have the plugin run it have it freeze then about an hour later run the update program agine its a pane in the *** but after 3 or 4 updates it works

your using thunderbird tho right? ill have to see. if i can get it to work ill conver my stuff from evolution to tbird.

yeah im using thunderbird 2.0.0.1with lightning .7 and sync SW 1.158 (its taken 3 days of updating to go from 1.4xx to this ver.) the hole thing is kind of a pane in the *** but it works.

ok ive done it. now Evolution syncs with the server then i sync the treo. i started to set it up for outlook as well and i added the office calendar there too. the outlook plugin keeps dying at the end of the sync so it never completes, if i could get it to work (and im sure i shall) everything will be synced. i gotta go back now and click thanks to the brother that hooked us up!.

its the same problem with the outlook plug in you need to make sure u have the latest ver. and you cant just download it you have to keep updating.

ok i have the latest funambol and i found a newer redemption.dll. im not seeing a update feature, any ideas ?

I am using SynCE on several GNU/Linux computers with very few problems. I am just using SynCE for DTPT though there are reports that you can sync with evolution just fine.

You do need to install the usb-rndis-lite module with Subversion. All of this info is on the SynCE wiki.

I can post my personal how-to and a zenity script I wrote to manage the connection if anyone would like.

i would like to see that Bobby. i have tried all the how to's i have found, plus different forums/wikis etc. im using Ubuntu 08.04. Before upgrading Ubuntu i had a nextel i930 that synced just beautifully however now the new phone and the newer version of linux and nothing works. having the phone sync to the pc would be optimal. thank you.

Sorry for the delay. The following are my scripts and instructions. Unzip the scripts and put both into your home folder. You may need to restart sync-engine on the PC occasionally. You also may need to restart odccm on the PC once in a while. This script helps you to do that and more. You will need zenity installed on your GNU/Linux PC to run it.

1.Enable advanced network functionality on Device

2.Connection internet settings set to 'My Work Network' on Device

3.As root, enable ipv4_forwarding
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
(allows routing of packets between network interfaces)

4.Add to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
blacklist ipaq
(a precaution against accidentally not setting advanced network functionality on device)

5.Add to sources.list
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/synce/ubuntu hardy main
(extra repos for drivers and libraries)

6.Note: for Kernel 2.6.24-19 (at the moment available in hardy-proposed) and newer this step should be skipped.
sudo rmmod rndis_host cdc_ether usbnet
(unload old kernel drivers)

7.Note: for Kernel 2.6.24-19 (at the moment available in hardy-proposed) and newer this step should be skipped.
sudo rm /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/net/usb/{rndis_host,cdc_ether,usbnet}.ko
(delete old kernel drivers)

8.Note: for Kernel 2.6.24-19 (at the moment available in hardy-proposed) and newer this step should be skipped.
sudo apt-get install usb-rndis-source cdbs
sudo module-assistant auto-install usb-rndis
(compile new kernel drivers)

9.sudo apt-get install odccm librra0-tools librapi2-tools
(download and install new libraries)

10.pls
(should list files)

11.Add to /etc/network/interfaces
iface <interface of your device> inet dhcp
(configure network-manager to ignore the new interface)

12.sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
(restart networking)

13.Add to /etc/resolv.conf
(DNS server address)
(to fix host network with network manager)

14.sync-engine &
(to background the process)

15.create_partnership.py "Linux desktop" "Contacts"
(uses sync-engine to establish partnership)

16.Test

17.Close everything and use script for everyday use
