Re: sync and linux?

i used to be able to sync my nextel i930 with Ubuntu, and now i have a treo 700wx. I havent been able to sync it, and really havent had time to figure everything out yet as they changed the usb ports etc in Ubuntu 08.04. they are now labelled like usb1.1-3 or some dumb thing. anyway it IS possible. Your best bet would be to goto freenode on irc and join #ubuntuforums. ask there if google doesnt get you the answers quick enough. let me know if you find anything ill let you know if i have any success.

Re: sync and linux?

u could use a program like wm5torage, or card export to access files on your storage card. they make the phone act like a usb flash drive. then u can mount the drive. won't have access to files on your device though. nor no calendar syncing, phone numbers, emails, etc.

This is one of the reasons that had me rule out Linux as a competitor in the race for the best OS. another was the lack of a decent Music Library Manager.

Windows XP = Best OS
Windows Mobile = Best PDA
Sprint = Best Cellphone provider.

Re: sync and linux?

just tried http://www.ubuntugeek.com/pocket-pc-...in-ubuntu.html
and its not helping so, i tried http://wiki.flexion.org/PocketPC.html theres a link there for http://www.finchsync.com/docu_server.html so you can sync thru the internet wirelessly. ive started setting it up but i gotta goto work now. so ill have to try to finish later.
as the above comment to each his/her own windows mobile is the best now until android is done and or mobile linux. i guess you have never tried linux. its 100% more stable than windoze. anyway enough of getting off-topic. start another thread if you want to try to argue windoze.

Re: sync and linux?

i set it up as well. i got the phone synced to scheduleworld, but im still working on the evolution part. since i didnt figure it out quick enough i tried thunderbird and yes, it hangs there. also i couldnt install lightning as i run 64bit o i have to keep reading/trying for the other version.
the nice thing is the calendar and contacts from my phone are now on scheduleworld, and sync'd
