Nope, definitely do-able.

CorePlayer does it flawlessly. Set up microdrive mode to buffer to an SD card, and you can pause and restart a streaming source without losing any program material, or audio quality. My guess is that they are simply buffering the raw stream, and keeping track of a playback pointer in the saved data.

With 16GB cards, there's no reason to compress as part of a "DVR" capability. Raw streams can be buffered for hours and hours without making a dent in the storage.

In fact, this is the reason months ago I suggested adding a local proxy source feature to C-apiSRO -- restream out a different port on the device, or even fake being localhost stream, so that any application could connect and then add it's functionality (filters, equalizers, buffering, etc.).

In this way, capi's application no longer needs to provide the UI and other functionality. It simply obtains the content, and brokers it to some other app to act as the UI and signal processor.

In this way one could use CorePlayer to get DVR-like features for talk streaming; Pocket Player can be used to apply filters, equalizer, and even fluff like visualizations while listening to music.

All "free" in terms of C-apiSRO development burden.

What about that, capi? Please, please, please? Pretty please?

That being said... it CAN be done. Looking forward to using the "record" function. Would LOVE to be able to pause and record Sirius, more specifically... Stern!

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

Well I love it, I got a friend who has a lifetime membership, he lets me use his name and password since Dec or Jan of 08, i was using the pc at work, then I got a mogul, then there was the WM5 player (ok, not great but ok) and then one of his players came out, no D-pad controls then but was so much better than WM5, and I have used it ever since. Thus the high data flow on my account!! He has made my days at work bearable and I will continue to beat the data side of my plan like it owes me money!!

Re: C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio for PocketPC (PPC)

Does anyone know if there are updated files containing all the new Sirius channels? I'm still showing the AC/DC channel which was replaced by the Van Halen channel. Or does anyone know how to go into the registry to update. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Nice app Capp

I had this issue since the last release and to day finally decided to tackle the issue. The channel I was missing was 65 BackSpin Old School Rap. It's simple. All you have to do is edit the xml file "channels" found under "Program Files\C-ApiSRO\Provider\XM" folder on your phone. If you don't have an xml editor, go here http://free.editix.com/download.html and find the right version for your computer's operating system. It's free.

Copy the channels file from your phone to your computer. Edit the file in editx to add the channel(s) you are missing. All I did was copy the info from a nearby channel, in my case Channel 66 Shade45. Paste the info in channel sequence and change the info of the line you copied to the correct info for your channel. Save the file then copy it to the "Program Files\C-ApiSRO\Provider\XM" folder.

I recommend you copy the original channels file to another folder in case
you didn't correctly input the info.

Enjoy
