Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I haven't tried Parlingo... but SLICK is great so far! I Love it!! I recommend it. I have Yahoo, AIM, & MSN logged in ! all in one program - I just switch tabs .

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
I use live messenger.. the send audio clip functionality makes getting a point across REALLY convinient & efficient. Login, say what I got to say, quick w/o having to make a phone call at the wrong time, wait on hold nor get involved with lengthy verbal dialogue.
Its the #1 thing I appreciate most while out of town. Can anyone suggest besides octrotalk WM ppc software that has good audio or video conferencing capabilities? |
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Do any of you guys have this problems while on slick on the HTC PRO? IT only beeps once on the first IM and never again untill u close out the IM. Is there a fix for that?
|
Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Palringo....u will never go back to slick...

Best IM Client
What's the best client for the Touch Pro.
I do not like OzIm and AIM+ and BeeJiveIM both look distorted because of the screen resolution. |
Re: Best IM Client
It might not be the best, but I use "Slick" for IMing.
Supported protocols: ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, Jabber http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/In...ck-51485.shtml http://screenshots.en.softonic.com/e...66651/4_k1.jpg |
Re: Best IM Client

Re: Best IM Client
Palringo is very, very nice.
|
Re: Best IM Client
I like Beejive, the screen isnt distorted, atleast not from what I see, but...its a battery killer, if you leave it on it'll rape your battery in a few hours
|

|
Re: Best IM Client
Just curious what is it about the stock messenger that people don't like?
|
Re: Best IM Client
i didnt like that it didnt support google talk which is waht my fiance uses exclusively on her blackberry.
|
Re: Best IM Client
I like the IM client that came standard with the TP on Sprint. It works server side, as opposed to clientside like most of the other AIM clients, which means that even if you are out of service, you are still considered online and IMs get sent to the AIM servers. When you get reception again you receive all the IMs that were queued up for you. I find that this saves the most batteries for me since the client doesn't have to be constantly logged onto data.

Re: Best IM Client
Palringo, Fring, or Nimbuzz for the free ones. I also like to use the native Skype application for Skype communication. Jivetalk WAS awesome, but then they stopped developing the WinMo client...and now I hate them.
IM+ or Agile for paid ones. |
Re: Best IM Client
Palringo! Even on 1x it will perform fairly well. I like how it always reconnects after your done with a call. A lot of other IM apps I've used had issues doing this.

Re: Best IM Client
so fring or palringo...which one is better?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?
Got a question...do any of these messengers actually WAKE your phone for a new IM? I use OZ Instant Messenger that comes with Sprint and it only gives me the new IM's if the phone is actually awake...kinda sucks to have to keep turning the phone on to see if new messages have come in...

Every time you get a new message, it puts a big box in the middle of your screen asking if you want to view the message. GO AWAY, DAMNIT! Anyways, the way OZ is SUPPOSED to work, is yes, it will wake your phone--from stand-by. Not totally powered-off, obviously. In fact, you don't even have to run OZ for it to wake up on IM. OZ works with 'system' SMS messages, that your phone see and open up OZ and display the IMs. Easily the most power-conserving IM program. You might want to see if there is an updated version of OZ for the Touch Pro. -Steve |
