Your phone should wake up since it's getting that hidden SMS...

I might suggest this... your battery will die like crazy if you have your phone wake up on every IM... You can set S2U2 to not activate while the IM window is open. This makes things easier--like if you are in the middle of a conversation. Your screen can still go dim, and you can check the messages with little hassle.

Other IM clients let you pick the IM sound, which can be helpful too. As far as I know, the only way your phone will wake up is when it receives the hidden SMS...

So I've been using Parlingo for a few days now on my touch but it loves to lock up. The only way I can get out of the lock up is to hit my END Call Key and get back to my touchflo interface. Everything works fine after that except I can't get back into parlingo without rebooting the device.

Any known compatibility issues?

I am currently using EQO mobile. Its simple, clean, and allows a plugin on the start page. Doesn't have as many features as the others, but i found them so buggy that i got annoyed.

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I've had Palringo on my old Titan and now on my Touch Pro and for some reason, every time I try to log in, all it says is "Reconnect Pending > Logging in > Reconnect Pending" and that just goes on and on and on and on..... i once let it sit for twenty minutes, and it still does it. Is this a common problem?

And to answer the OP. I typically use AIM and Live Messenger on my phone. Until I can get Palringo to work.

I use beejive, its a tiny bit buggy, but its nice and I like it

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I love beejive, but lemme tell you, it drains a battery FAST. Within 3 hours, my battery was drained 40% just on standby. I always keep it on

Which one supports google talk and aim, and has the best battery efficiency?

Nimbuzz all the way... used to use Palringo but Nimbuzz includes Skype and has a cleaner way of displaying the protocol icons.

That happens to me once in a while. Here are a few things to consider:

1. Make sure you have the latest verision of Palringo. Go here for latest beta: http://beta.palringo.com/

2. If you have the latest you might want to uninstall, soft reset, reinstall and do another soft reset.

Nimbuzz 2.0 will be released soon for WM

"Hello,

We will announce it as soon as it is available to be downloaded.

Thanks & Regards"

Nimbuzz/Palringo scrolling doesn't work with wm6.5 for me :(. I actually prefer the beejive interface but the service isn't as stable.

it cost $ but the new version of im+ is working great for me, same best battery life as palringo

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

I don't understand how/why my battery dies within a couple hours of running an IM program. I've tried Palringo/Nimbuzz/Slick and they all kinda bring me down from 100% to atleast 50% in 2-3 hours of sitting idle.

Just so you guys know, I like to just stay online and be available for anyone who wants to message me (co-workers). For this, running the app and being online is a big thing for me. If battery takes such a bad hit, then how do these apps expect to gain a user's confidence?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

Devileyezz, I've never used an IM program that didn't drain my battery rapidly. I usually see about 10% per hour. But it really depends on how much you are messaging. I think this is just the reality of using a program that constantly uses data. Personally, I use AIM the most so I forward my IMs via sms when I'm not logged in on a client (desktop/mobile). I also use AIM2TXT when I'm not having a lengthy conversation, that's when I switch to Beejive/Palringo. If you need other services, maybe try OZ messenger or whatever app uses sms instead of data (that is if you get unlimited sms).

i dont think there are anymore im clients that uses strictly sms or sms at all. If there was I would use that primarily.

Yeah, haven't heard about any for a while. Thought maybe the old ones worked? I know when I tried OZ a while ago, it just didn't work very well.

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

SMS is a good idea, however I would want it on an "enable only basis" meaning when I leave the house, I want my IMs via SMS. Then when I'm home, I can "turn it off".

AIM2TXT is sort of like that. It's enabled to turn on when you are not logged in with a client. So if I'm logged in at home or when I'm on a laptop/mobile client, it's disabled. I believe there is something like this for yahoo as well.

Too bad it's only for AIM :(

Is there such thing as a VGA version of OZ Mobile?

Or is it the one that exists already VGA and it just looks that ugly?

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

palringo here its just better than the normal messenger offered in most phones as its free it lets u log in to all of them and even has gps how cool is that :D

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

Does anybody know why and how OZ starts by itself randomly?

I like that it uses SMS and it's not using data constantly but I think I am going to uninstall it... Not only do I immensely dislike applications doing things on their own but if on top of that they are not that aesthetically pleasing the decision's not that hard...

Any other messenger like that?

EDIT: Apparently you have to exit through the menu, selecting sign out and exit or it will keep popping up.

Re: Instant Messaging -which one are you using?

It just loops Pending Reconnect. All other data services work.

I'm on the Snap it's a Smartphone not a PPC but this should still work.

I like Nimbuzz, it's free and it works with several clients, like AIM, GoogleTalk, and even Facebook.
