When you connect do you have data enabled? are you sure its using the Sprint connection and not the work connection?

Also I am going to move this to Software forum so that others can help you if I am not on at the time..

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

Wow I enabled data and it seems to work. Thanks gTen you were helpful. I am just not used to having data enabled manually lol. When I open opera mobile or opera mini data enables by itself and when I close it, it disables on its own.

Thank you! I am happy now.

Also just curious about what domain is?

Also will it matter if your connection is dynamic or static?

Yes..if its dynamic you won't know what IP to use..so use that URL or another similar service I gave you to create a hostname..so instead of using the public IP you will use the hostname instead in the computer field..this hostname will be static..

And yes some apps are not able to get data on their own..happens all the time and its annoying >.>

As for Domain..usually when you have a network you specify a domain...with this domain you can set group polices and etc...nothing to worry about..

but if you really want to know here is the wiki:

Windows domain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So I guess that my IP is static since I know it? I think I only have 1 public IP, does that mean it's static?

Dynamic IP means it changes..usually when you log off or after X amount of time..

Static means it never changes..

My home connection for example is generally a static IP..BUT it does sometimes change once a year or 2..

My cellphone connection, my IP changes every time I connect for the most part..thats dynamic..

So you can see in general if your public IP changes or not..some hosts also allow you to request static IPs too...

As a mod I can see IPs and from the looks of it your IP hasn't changed since the beginning of this thread except one post where you seemed to have accessed from elsewhere..so from the looks of it your IP is static enough for a week..but on 01-02-2011 you had a different IP so doesn't look like its static enough for a month..

I would suggest to just in case setup a hostname for your IP so that its static..

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

Yeah I did use a different PC to reply to some messages.
I think my IP is permanently static unless the modem is restarted.

Also do you have a hostname setup since your IP is Static? I mean I do not see I really need one that much. Does it improve performance?

I am also curious why some hosts allow to request static IPs and what it does (Yeah they change dynamic to static.); does it change static to dynamic?

By the way my remote desktop connection is setup so that like anyone can access it (the less secure one), is there anyway to limit it to just my phone to be more secure?

I generally don't remote desktop to my home pcs..I use it for my servers (which are static ips forever)..

your phone uses a dynamic IP as it changes every time you connect..if you want to limit it I guess you'll have to look up the IP range of Sprint and set on the RDP port to only allow that range and block all others in your firewall/router..

some hosts allow people to have static IPs if they need it..such as in your case..

It offers no performance increase..it just gives you the reliability that if you leave on say a trip..it won't change mid trip...

Re: Anyway to connect to your pc with winmo 6.5 wirelessly?

Since it is not that urgent to me to actually have the need to access my PC then I don't think I need to worry about hosting.

Well thanks, I will do some of my research on how to keep it private access and allow for only my phone.

As for look up the IP range of Sprint, IDk what you mean?

You misunderstood me..a hostname is not hosting..a hostname is a name that resolves to an IP..you can get one of these hostnames for FREE
