Re: The **Official** nanoGroove thread v1.03 released (1.29.10)
This thing's not in stereo is it?
I thought I'd noticed this earlier but didn't think much of it at the time. But this morning on the drive in I decided to listen to some Clapton and when 'Lay Down Sally' came on I noticed it seemed to be lacking the lead guitar track. Then when it got to the guitar solo (~1:50 mark) it was readily apparent that entire track wasn't there. I listened to roughly 40 seconds of nothing but the rhythm section. I thought maybe it was just a bad/different version uploaded to Grooveshark so I tried several others (all of the same landmark studio cut, but from different albums) and had the same result. Then when I got into the office I verified those tracks were in fact in stereo and worked just fine on my computer's speakers. So essentially this thing is outputting mono sound to stereo? This isn't technically make or break for me as most modern songs are more evenly balanced and use the stereo effect more sparingly anyway. But it does take away a lot of the punch and depth from many songs (especially those from the mid-60/early-70s where they used stereo heavily for this effect.) I'm assuming this is a limitation of the underlying audio engine they're using for this? I realize this isn't a developer-created thread, but is the closest thing we have to that channel and I assume they're no doubt monitoring it. I still think a 'play all' from the playlist menu and a 'shuffle' on the player should be the two top priorities for future updates. But this wouldn't be far behind IMO. |

I'm not really complaining for the record. I just want to see this app blossom into the truly killer app it has the potential to be. A few tweaks here or there and it could pretty much mitigate the need to have music on your device at all (if you're mostly in an area with 3G coverage.) Well Grooveshark came back up and nanoGroove works fine. It was down for maintenance. Last time this happened nanogroove needed to be updated so I was simply giving a warning that there may be issues. I guess I should have been more clear. As for what is going on with lawsuit, I have been trying to find more information but have been unsuccessful. If anyone finds some more up to date information on these proceedings please post a link.

I am sure it has been said somewhere so i wanna say +1 to being able to have a random play. After (painstakingly) adding an entire playlist of mine then it would be nice to be able to play it back in random order.
