WeatherPanel has always been a neat program, but this new theme just raises its usability to a perfect 10.0. I can't believe how easy it is to use, how incredible it works on my new Touch, and how much I've come to depend upon it.

Not sure what you mean by too out of date? WP will work on WM6 Pro devices like the Mogul or the Vogue. :)

very nice theme!

I am trying to have a layout that has current temp, as well as lows and highs for the next 3-5 days, which this theme has. Except, I am trying to fit this in a Pocket Plus 4 tab which sits right underneath HTC Home. With this theme at 240x320 +116, I am about 5- 10 pixels over. The lows and highs are cut off. Can you make an additional layout that is about 10 pixels shorter yet still has these info, perhaps with only 3 day forecast if needed to fit.

You can make that change yourself quite easily. Here's some step-by-step instructions:

1. Connect your ppc to your pc.
2. On your pc navigate to your ppc and open Program Files > Marsware > WeatherPanel >
Themes > PhatPhinger.
3. From the PhatPhinger folder find the .wpl file that corresponds to what you're currenlty using (240x320 +166 .wpl).
4. Copy this .wpl file from your ppc to your pc.
5. On your pc open the .wpl file with note pad.
6. The first line you see after opening it is, "Height 116"
7. Change the "116" to "111".
8. Hit save and copy it back to correct location on your ppc.
9. Refresh WeatherPanel on your ppc and see if that made enough differnce.

If changing the height didn't fix it enough let me know and I can either walk you how to change forecast info.

it didn't work for me. I tried height at 106 and didn't see any difference. Tried 86 and it just cuts off more of the forecast icons.

the only way I think it may work and still keep the current big icon (which I like) is to cut down to current day plus 2 additonal day forecasts. Even then the icon to change to menu screen will probably need to be smaller and moved.

hi, first off, great theme.. but here is my problem, i dont see the two up, and down arrows to change city on main veiw, and also not seeing large weather icon, in top left corner all i got is current temp and conditions.. please help, i duoble checked folders and everything seems to be there and in right location...

Ok...Weather Panel has some hidden features.
To get at the arrows you need to go to Settings/Today/Items. Highlight WeatherPanel and click on Options. This will open up the WP settings window. Tap on Display and scroll down and uncheck the box that says, "Don't Display Arrows".

Now, go into WP setting and tap on Display again. Your theme should say "PhatPhinger or PhatPhinger II" (depending). Layout should say something like Phat (240x240+127.wpl (depending on how tall you want it), and Icon Set should say something like PhatPhinger (or whatever other set you're using). Note that not all Icon sets (unless you loaded the Larger or Huge Sets) are gonna display properly with PhatPhinger.

thanks for your response, i see the arrow option, how stupid of me ive looked at that a million times... im not sure what was going on with theme, it might have been due to the moon phase fix, DLL file that i forgot about, i have the file somewhere.. but i found the cab file with the fix built into it here i downloaded and reinstalled and all is good now, well there is one thing my radar images seemed to fanish off the net... see i had this all set up before but the other day did hard reset due to something being currupted... i donno to long to try and explain..lol but i had my radar text file saved, and now most of my radar immages show up as empty. they are traffic camera images..and before the hard reset worked fine now dont.. i took one of the inks from my radar file and put it in address bar on PC, and get page cant be displayed so im guessing something is wrong with site or something cause they all came from same place.. so finally to my question.. does anyone know where to get traffic camera images that work (meaning address dont change, just the image is updated), for Rochester NY. hope i didnt bore everyone with this long post that most people (like me, lol) just skip over lol thanks in advance...

What do you mean? No weather data for Ohio, or radars. It gets its weather data from weather.com, so surely, the weather channel is covering Ohio....

What city in Ohio?
Just go to open WeatherPanel settings. Under "Cities" select the "add new" tab. In the Name box type in what you want your city to be called (I titled my city, "Home"). In the "Search For" box enter your city (e.g. Dayton) and hit the search button. WeatherPanel will produce a list of "Dayton's" for you to select.

I would check with the New York State Department of Transportation...or Rochester NY Department of Transportation. If the DOT site is down then you're cameras won't work.

Yup I went through all that and did a search for "Columbus" and it didn't return any Columbus, OH... there were other Columbus but not in my state... I even searched for Cleveland, OH and didn't see that either!

Am I missing something?

in the search for box, type in "cleveland ohio" or "columbus ohio" it found them for me...

I see the problem. When you just enter "Columbus", the results are obviously limited to 10 entries.

As has been previously stated, enter "Columbus OH" and it will pop right up.

is there a way to use animated icons for the current weather icon? i have Doreens animated icons from her vista alive theme, if there is a way to trade out the icons can someone help me out...thanks...

Yep...I'm using Stardock animated icons.
If they're sized correctly they should work just fine.

All you have to do is create another folder in your icons folder and name it Doreens (or whatever you want).

Remember, PhatPhinger uses the "large" or "huge" icon sets so you'll want to make sure you transfer those as well.

It should look something like this:
Program Files/Marsware/WeatherPanel/Icons/Doreens/Huge

Then via ActiveSync you can transfer the icons to the folder you just created. Give your phone a soft reset and you should be good to go.

took a little time but i got it thanks coz... i just replaced all images of equal(or close to) size in all the folders and it worked now if i can only get doreen to animate the winter icons..

WeatherPanel not removing correctly?
 

i had to hard reset my phone tonight trying to install the trial 08 version of WP from the original version found on the MarsWare site. it asked if i wanted to remove the current version and i said yes and it locked my phone up.

has anyone else seen this?

Excellent! I know it seems like a lot of work...but it's worth it. And ultimately the more you learn about WP the easier it is to navigate within it.

all the images are numbered, does anyone know what weather senerio uses what number icon (example: snow flurrys uses image # 23) I have one image that is on the main veiw on one of my days that is wrong size but can't find it in folder, it is a lot smaller than rest.. a lot of images aren't exact but not as much a difference as this one if I knew what number it was it would help... someones got to know...lol

found someone (jhendriskon) who did a 95 pixel version that works perfectly on Weatherpanel.net

I must say that this is a fantastic theme for weatherpanel. I wish that it will not only display the weather but also the local time of the location as well. Any idea on how this can be done?

nevermind got it all figured out, ok, maybe not.... i replaced all the images so there all sized corectly now now my problem is the icons on the forcast buttons on main veiw are not animated do you know what image set phat phinger uses for that is it the large or the ones that are just in the main folder?

yeah really strange i had it working except 4 icons were wrong size, so i got rid of them and now some icons lost animation see page 23

im very confused... ive copied over all the right files the larger current weather icon animation is working fine... but only some on the week forcast are working i got the icons there but not the animation.. could something be hapening to the animation file during transfer? sorry if im turning into a pain about this...lol i recently hard reset my phone and this is the last thing left to get straightened out...

well ive got it all set now... i have learned alot about the text files for the layout, and what i have done is combined PhatPkinger with Dorrens Vista Alive theme, with the changing backgrounds, looks awesome. just need to reseze some of the animations, and adjust some placdement on some of the icons

Hey shaolin, I like that theme you have going there. Will the icons be clear? or did you need the HTC hme customizer to do that?

basicly alls I did was take Phatphinger 3 theme and messed with the layout, fonts and then I inputed some parts of doreens Vistaalive theme to make the bacgrounds change and animated icons, maybe ill start a new thread called Phatphinger Alive and post what I got and update it as I go... as long as there are no objections from storyr. as I give him full credit for creation, I just modified it to suit myself...
