Re: [THEME] WeatherPanel Freaks: PhatPhinger - a "stylus-free" QVGA theme

I've tried searching but couldn't find an answer to this. I have a verizon 6800 with WM 6.1 Pro and the latest radio versions and ROM. I'm trying to install the unzipped Phatfinger III folder into the Marsware folder next to the WeatherPanel Folder and I keep getting an error that states:

" Cannot copy phat_9_pressed: The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." and it gives me options to skip, skip all, or cancel.

Every time it gets to this point the sync between the 6800 and PC ends. I've also tried to install both the zipped and unzipped file to different locations to see if it would copy, but I keep getting the same error.

First off, the PhatPhinger folder should be copied into the WeatherPanel\Themes folder - not "next to" to the WeatherPanel folder.

Here's some things to check:
  • Do you have enough room to copy?
  • On you PC, turn on "show hidden files" in your folder settings, and delete any Thumbs.db files that you find in the theme folder before copying. These files (automatically created by windows) sometimes cause issues when copying to your device.
As an alternative, you can copy themes and icons to your storage card. On your storage card, create folder WeatherPanel, then within it, create folders Themes and Icons. Just copy your theme and icons folders inside these and WeatherPanel will automatically pick them up...

Im sorry if this issue as already been reported, didnt saw all the posts...

I installed phatfingrz II layout and the cab for phatfingerz icons and icons do not display properlly...The big icon only shows the rain and the small icons are really small.

Using a HTC Polaris so it should not be a problem(QVGA)

With the stardock animated icons the small icons work perfectly but instead of a big icon i got two small icons, one at right and the other on left and i wouldnt mind that but the icon on the left side sometimes gets on top of weather degrees info.

Hope you have a simple solution and thanks for your work.

Sorry for the confusion: The PhatPhinger icons (cab install) are for PhatPhinger I only. You installed PhatPhinger II, which is formatted for standard icons sizes (found here).

The second issue - please post a screenshot...

I looks like you have an issue with your icon installation. Your folders for the VGA Stardock animated icons should look like the attached screenshot. These are inside the Icons folder...

I'm going crazy.............

I've installed all 3 themes and the GlassCandy Icon set.

I for the life of me can't get it to work.

The layout settings don't even give me any other option than the default stuff. Even after I change the display settings.

My current config is

Themes: PP I QVGA Theme
Layout: Only defaults show
Icon Set: GlassCandy QVGA Icons

But thos Icons are not the ones showing up.......HELP

I see all the files in WE and I am running WM 6.1 Pro don't know if that matters.

I re-installed and put themes and icon folders on my card and still nothing.

It will not show anything but the default selections in the Display / layout settings.

storyr - I've got a problem with all the VGA themes on my Touch Pro. When I go to a day, I get the screen I've attached. I never get the highs for the day. On some of the screens I get highs, but they're all in a font I can't read. I've tried PhatPhinger I, II, and IV and the same thing is happening in all of them. Any ideas?

I'm guessing your installation is not correct. Check these things:

From the theme readme file:

Code:

1.4  Copy the desired PhatPhinger folder (I, II or III) and it's contents
into the Themes folder on your device. Your folders should then look
something like this (you may not have all three PhatPhinger folders):

        - Program Files
          - MarsWare
            - WeatherPanel
              - data
              + Icons
              - Themes
                - PhatPhinger I QVGA
                - PhatPhinger II QVGA
                - PhatPhinger III QVGA

and (this applies to any icon set, not just the PhatPhinger I icons)

Code:

2.2.4  Copy the PhatPhinger QVGA Icons folder (and it's contents)
from your PC into the Icons folder on your device.
Your folders should then look like this:

              - Program Files
                - MarsWare
                  - WeatherPanel
                    - data
                    - Icons
                      + PhatPhinger QVGA Icons
                      + Default
                    + Themes

Note: If you want to put this stuff on your storage card, simply copy the theme folder into a folder named WeatherPanel/Themes, or the icon folder into a folder named WeatherPanel/Icons. WeatherPanel automatically looks in these locations on the storage card...

Looks like you're missing the background images - the background shouldn't be all black. That's why the black text isn't showing up. Look at the files in the theme folder - you should see files like those in the attached screenshot. If not, I'd reinstall the theme...

Thanks, as always. But I have the phatback files in all the theme folders - and I've reinstalled all the themes several times. I can live with it fine (some of WP is pretty redundant) but it's just strange. - sheureka

Storyr

Thanks for all you've done with this WP stuff it rocks the house.

I had all that set up the way you say and it did not work.
I took the original zip files and put them in those folders and unzipped em from there and then it worked. Is that instruction in your OP? Or is this just something particular to my phone. Who knows why it didn't happen the other way but now it works and I'm happy as a pig in poop.

Love this program.

Thanks again :thumbleft:

I just wanted to say thank you for all the time you put in to WeatherPanel and for all your hard work. Some of the themes, icons are just awsome. I just got my first Win Mo phone 1 month ago and knew that the first program I wanted was a weather app. Found WeatherPanel, installed (no problem) and loving it. Thanks again for everything.
