Theme Update
 

UPDATE 10/21/2007: Added two new PhatPhinger themes:

PhatPhinger II QVGA

• PhatPhinger II has reformatted layouts to work with any standard weather icon set (other than Yahoo). PhatPhinger II does have one requirement: There must be HUGE icons in the set ( 128x128 ). All of the icons seen below can be found here.

• PhatPhinger III has an "HTC Touch" style - thanks to member poorlyduck, who provided the graphics. It also will work with any icon set, provided there are HUGE icons in the set ( 128x128 ).

Hey, thanks guys. These "variations" should address some of the additional features people were asking for - namely the use of other weather icons and animated icons...

That's actually kind of common knowledge to WP users as it happens with every WP theme. It's the way the app is designed.

BTW, speaking of radar images. I forgot that I added "phat" buttons to the zoom in, zoom out and play buttons on the image screens. I don't have a screenshot right now, but check it out (I think :scratch: I added it to all three Phat themes)...

Update 10/28/07: Added a new 116 pixel layout size to PhatPhinger III: Phat(240x240)+116 / Phat(240x320)+116. Download on 1st post...

Has anybody else experienced this:
I have downloaded and installed theme and the icons according to the readme. When I go to change the settings, I changed the them to PhatPhinger I QVGA theme and the Icon Set to PhatPhinger QVGA icons. However, when I go to change the layout, only the defaults are listed with no phatphingers to choose from. How do I fix this? I did 2 soft resets just in case, but still nothing. Any ideas?

To me it sounds like you copied the whole PP folder extracted for the zip over to your device, so you esentialy have 2 PP folders (one inside another). Look in your PC for the PP file, once you find it click on it. You should see another PP folder, that is the one you want to move over to your device. :)

That fixed it, thanks! I knew it was something stupid. I always do something dumb. I know someone else already asked this, but I don't know if any progress has been made. Is there any way to turn off that wretched beep every time you push one of the buttons? that would be a great help.

With any updates on the beep, you will have to wait for storyr to chime in.

is there a version of this theme that fits better on the today screen with the HTC big home plugin?

it cuts off just a bit at +124

Using ActiveSync, go to \Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes\PhatPhinger (or PPII depending on the theme you're using) on your phone. Copy the Windows Media Playlist (file icon has a blue arrow) file for the screen size you're running. Paste this onto your pc desktop. Open with Notepad. The first line you'll see is the height of the plugin. Change that value to maybe 120. Save this file and copy it back in the directory from above (replacing the old file).

You're WP plugin should now be smaller on your today screen.

is there any way to change the size of the htc home plugin height?

Make sure you didn't accidently change the WMP to a Notepad file before pasting it back into \Program Files\MarsWare\WeatherPanel\Themes\PhatPhinger.

And make sure you select your "changed" theme file in WP settings to have the changes take effect.

I just noticed that the 240x240 +116 that came with PP3 does the same thing

and I didn't edit that oue

Nope. The plugin is a static height.

Try this one (for PhatPhinger II only). It's 112 pixels tall, and looks like this (shown here below the PhatPhinger phoneAlarm skin):

Just unzip and copy the two files into the PhatPhinger folder on your device. I'll add this to the downloads someday...

Stupid Question, but....
 

I can not find instructions on the forum to install a CAB.
Am I just stupid, blind, nontechnical.....all of the above?

I read higher up to install phat phinger I need to have WeatherPanel installed first.
Is that correct. I have the cab download that storyr linked to but am at a loss after that.
Should I be using PP1, PP2 or PP3?

Someone please take pitty on me and point me in the right direction.

Mr. Shoe...here's the simplest way to install a cab.

Hook your phone (ppc) up to your computer (pc) via ActiveSync. Now, on your pc move the .cab file to your ppc. It really doesn't matter where you put it...but just get into the habit of putting them in the same place...that way you'll always know where to look.

After the .cab has been moved to your ppc...go to your ppc directly and navigate to the .cab. Using your stylus tap on the .cab to install. For WP you'll want to install the application to your main memory (device) not the storage card.

After successful installation you can delete the .cab.

Now...for WP. Yes, you must install the basic WeatherPanel program. Everything else (PhatPhinger 1, 2, 3, etc.) are themes that lay on top of and use the components of WP.

So...first install WP to your ppc's main memory. Then install the PhatPhinger cabs (themes and icon). If you have a storage card you can install the icons there...but for sure install the actual WP program and themes to main memory.

This should get you on the right path...do the above and let us know what happens.

I finally got this completed. Thanks to you and the readme storyr included things went smooth. All I need to do now is play with the various setting for display and icons to find what I like the best.

Would this replace the weather in a Touch? The one that come with it is quite lacking compared to this.

This wouldn't exactly replace the weather on the Touch, as that is the HTC Home Plugin. This is a different application that is completely independent and much better in my humble opinion. You could use this to supplement the HTC Home Plugin, but you will not be able to replace it as a tab.

Hey Storyr, first I want to say great theme. Don't know if this has already been answered? i just encountered this today. Today in my area I had light snow showers when it showed up it came across as

The showers on the the first line were just fuzzy black, and the showers on the second line were just white with no glow expand. It looks like it might be a small glitch were the glow expand stays on the first line and doesnt follow the word down to the second line. Hope this makes sense. Been using your themes since stealth. Keep up the great work

Is there a layout that has the Time AND date?

I'm using PhatPhingerI QVGA
Layout = phat(240x320)+145.wpl

If so that would solve a few headaches for me.

can someone help me please! I just finished uploading helmi's wm6 rom and I always install wp after rom upgrades. I have wp on my device and not storage and I have the pf icon folder and pf theme folder where they should be. I also downloaded the cab file to my device and installed like I did before the rom upgrade. Now... all of the icons are there and the themes are there BUT, I don't have any of the layouts. Will someone please take the time to help me troubleshoot this problem, thanks

This sound simular to what BustedNuts1 posted. Read post #97 for a possible fix. :)

Excuse me..quick question..is it best to install this app on ur sd card or memory..I dont think this was stated, if it was..i do apologize.
