Cool Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

It seems that windows mobile automatically starts closing programs. This problem has been annoying in a lot of the newer 6.1 roms. Been looking for a answer for a while. And found the below info over in xda. Works great in Pre 8. I can finally open navizon, internet explorer, iguidance and xmradio in the same time once again. Without worrying one of them would autoclose on me.

"HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager" key
then created a binary-dword for "Autokill" with Decimal value "0"
then created a binary-dword for "MemoryThreshold" with Decimal value of "943718"

I have rebooted my phone several times and have not had any close issues.

Interesting thanks!

I actually started having that issue in the preview 2.2 builds long ago, but my problem was fixed after I quit using any memory freeing apps such a Oxios. I wonder if applying the above will let me start using those again...

We'll see. Thanks again.

Any chance you would be willing to export that key and upload it here and/or give the xda forum link, please?

This is the link where I found the info

http://forum.xda-developers.com/arch.../t-373128.html

And yes works great with memory apps like oxios and the latest wktask.

I have attached a export of the reg key I created. I had to change the extension to ".txt". To use it just rename the extension to "reg"

So far so good with that autoclose fix!
Finally!
I've had three memory hog programs open all night without any closing on me. That's a first. The big test will be today.

Thanks for posting these!

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

Well i've been mia for a while (got sick) but!

#1 That dude was eh, brain damaged, saying no one cares! Darn right we care, especially if we donated because we appreciate n2c's work.

#2 Still running pre-8, not 'buggy' for what i use it for

#3 dl and installed nonuebar and it works great no "problems." On reboot (twice that i've done it) phone notifies me of VM's and a txt msg its trying to send from who knows when lol! but at least it asks instead of doing so i just say no.

#4 yeah yeah can't wait for NR3! I do use the camera, but since it's able to be turned on and off more or less easily, it's ok!

Keep going n2c!! I'll actually buy the phone he decides to develop next although i perfer the the pro i think it is. dunno haven't seen them in a while.

PS I forgot to add that if you have donated to n2c's cause then you are privy to things non-doners aren't. Beside having access to the newest of goodies and whatnot you also have the ability to ask for fixes and other things as well! It pays to donate!#!@#!

Re: nueROM 2.2 Bleeding Edge General Discussion Thread

I read thru the 2 threads at xda a few time after trying this for a coupledays and did not see muc of a difference in my real life experience/typical daily usage. I am leaning toward a comment someone made in the thread u posted, that the problem is a threshold issue managed by WM. For example, if I open three programs right after reboot and get the memory to drop down to 16MB, then it seems that WM wants to close programs to maintain that level of free RAM.

If I open 10 programs that drop memory to 8MB it will do the same.

Changing the registry value for the memory threshold doesn't seem to make a difference. Which means there must be another or a few more reg. values that need changing. The posted values do seem to help keep things open a bit longer, just not a complete fix.

Maybe No2 can look into it some more? Maybe it isn't an issue with his upcoming build?

I hope it isn't !
