TF2d does not disable the touch scrolling, so far in my experience anyway. This is with both cab install and ROM OEM.

Is it just this key that you can't overwrite?

I have been able to overwrite other reg settings for TF2d and used Resco reg editor with no problem. I'm not using MSVC though.

Great!

SOD --

The first thing that I did was to disable any auto-off settings on the device. I NEVER deploy laptops or PPCs (well, PPC 6700) with sleep, hibernate or auto-off settings enabled. -- I've had too many support issues from my users - whether its Windows or hardware problems --

I recommend disabling the auto-off settings or other stuff that makes it sleep and manually turning the device off, when you want it to be off.

I'm only now allowing the screen to turn off -- but not on external power.

I think that all this sleep stuff requires programs to poll the clock. Thus, it adds load to the processor, slowing down the computer.

-- Just a personal preference --
Turning off sleep on these phones is simply not an option.... The battery will not last anywhere near an acceptable amount of time... I've never had a problem with sleep except for 1 bad rom flash and I suspect this is the same with most other people on here. Turning off sleep just is not acceptable.

This is not a laptop These phones remain in sleep stage 90+% of the time but cannot be off since they must still receive calls.

It may be... it seems to cut mine down a bit as well.

BTW: How did you get the digital clock in your sig? And is it animated? [does it flip when the minute changes?]

That's why I have the extended battery, so i can exercise the option of disabling auto-sleep etc. I can't afford to miss calls. When I used the xv6700 with STOCK ROM - it failed to come out of sleep - on occasion. It happened enough that once I disabled the sleep -- auto off crap, it worked.

I'm on call 24X7 -- I can't afford to miss a call. And, unfortunately -- with STOCK ROMs -- I've had a 6700, and this 6800 go to sleep WITH STOCK ROMs and fail to wake for a call -- FACT, not something I will argue about.

I plug the PPC into power in my car and at my desk. So, disabling sleep or auto-off is a very useful option.

I am here because I can't deploy PocketPCs to managers because of the inherent unrelaiblity of PPCs as compared to Blackberries. However, if they could be more reliable...

The only phone that I deploy without that modification is a Blackberry.

My years of experience of managing the deployment of portable Windows OS devices -- And while a PPC is not a laptop - it does use similar technology for auto-sleep, etc. -- has taught me to disable those features.

So, what else is not a laptop?

Like I said -- personal preference -- I'm sure that you meant it wasn't an OPTION that you want to consider -- not absolutely for others - right? I can guarantee that others exercise the option I described.

If you want to disable sleep that's fine but you certainly cannot say it is a fact that it would not have missed that call if it had been awake.

Other phones have certainly missed as many or more calls for me than this one and I always let my phone sleep.

To say that phones and laptops use similar technology for sleep is also somewhat nonsense.

I tested it and it is fact --

I guess we'll disagree with what is an option and nonsense.

I recommend that anyone with SOD problems disable the sleep option as a work-around.

Is that nonsense?

Others don't agree with you.

So get over yourself.
